The wait was long and terrifying. The axe outside the door had already chopped a hole in the wooden door. Just as a pair of hands reached in to try to unlock it, Ye Youge raised the baseball bat and smashed it down.
This completely enraged the thugs, and they violently slammed the door.
The defense line in Ye Youge's heart was about to collapse completely, just like the tattered and crumbling door.
Just as I was about to turn 20 tonight, I heard the sound of a fierce fight outside.
Ye Youge looked out through the big hole and saw four masked men being kicked to the ground, and then being beaten wildly by a group of people.
"Master Qi... spare our lives..." Several people held their heads and begged for mercy, but were still beaten into a ball by the intensive punches and kicks.
Qi Ye said to the assistant behind him: "Tie him up and take him back and interrogate him slowly..."
Ye Youge saw that the danger was temporarily over and just as he breathed a sigh of relief, Qi Ye's half-smile appeared outside the doorway.
He bent down and looked at Ye Youge, smiling gently and gentlemanly, "Miss Ye, the trouble is solved. Can you open the door for me?"
Ye Youge looked at the door which was useless. It was difficult to guard against a villain than a gentleman. What difference did it make whether she opened it or not?
When she opened the door, she saw Qi Ye and his assistant, as well as a dozen bodyguards standing on both sides of her door.
Qi Ye instructed Yi Feng, "Fix the door and replace it with a new one for Miss Ye."
"Yes, boss." Yi Feng immediately ordered two bodyguards to dismantle the iron door that had fallen to the ground and the wooden door that was hanging precariously on the door frame and carry them away.
Qi Ye stood by the door and looked at her boudoir curiously. "Would you please invite me in for a seat?"
Ye Youge glanced at the bodyguards standing in the hallway, led him to sit on the sofa, and asked, "What would you like to drink? Tea or coffee?"
"Tea, thank you."
"Is black tea okay?"
"Can."
Ye Youge turned around to make tea. Qi Ye spread his arms and leaned lazily on the sofa, looking up at the warmly decorated living room.
Although the space is not large, it is carefully tidied and is not only neat and orderly but also cleverly laid out.
He looked around twice and was about to look away when he saw a familiar kettle on the table.
For a moment, his breathing hitched, and he stood up and walked towards the kettle unconsciously.
After reaching out to take it, he turned over the bottom of the pot and saw that most of the red seal had fallen off due to the erosion of time, but he could still recognize it by the general outline. It was his grandfather's seal.
He printed it himself when he was a child...
Bitter yet sweet memories surged through my mind like a floodgate opened.
The year his grandfather was seriously ill, he and his mother returned to the mainland. The kettle was given to him by his grandfather, and he also made a mark on the bottom of the kettle with his grandfather's seal.
When returning to Hong Kong from the mainland, he and his mother encountered a shipwreck. In a panic, he left the kettle given by his grandfather in the restaurant and forgot to take it with him.
When he got back, he saw a disheveled but pretty little girl holding his water bottle and drinking water.
He was a little angry at the time and spoke in a harsh tone, but after the girl was scared and started crying, he panicked again.
He later discovered the girl had no family, so he and her mother took her aboard an escape boat.
When they were on the boat, the little girl held his hand fearfully and dependently. Her hand was so soft and small that he was very panicked at the time, but he still calmly comforted her not to be afraid.
He always remembered the girl's name, her name was Pei Sining.
The boat was finally overturned by a big wave. He couldn't hold her hand and could only watch her being swept away by the waves. He remembered that the water bottle was on her back at that time.
A shipwreck changed the trajectory of his life. His mother died in the accident, and he became seriously ill. He stayed in the hospital for three years and then stayed at home for another five years.
When he finally stood up again, his father had already trained his twin brother to become the heir of the Jing family.
He became a useless person supported by the Jing family, an abandoned child with no status.
However, his younger brother Jing Yi Bo still regarded him as a potential threat and repeatedly framed him to death, which eventually led to a complete break between him and the Jing family.
He changed his surname to his mother's and started his own business. After a few years, he had the strength to compete with the Jing family, while the Jing family had been stagnant.
What's funny is that Grandpa Jing actually remembered his grandson who had been abandoned by them long ago, and even wanted him to merge his property with the Jing family, and then let him sit in the position of the head of the Jing family again.
It's extremely naive.
His 'good brother' must be wishing he could eat him alive right now, right?
But why is this kettle here?
"Mr. Qi, here's your black tea." Ye Youge handed him the steaming teacup.
Qi Ye took it, sat back down on the sofa, and then asked about the kettle.
"Miss Ye, where did you get this kettle?"
Ye Youge looked at the kettle that had been with her for more than ten years, and the corners of her lips curved up: "This is my lucky kettle. When I fell into the sea when I was a child, it was this kettle that saved my life."
Qi Ye's pupils trembled, and his shocked eyes were full of expectation and disbelief. "You fell into the sea? Was it sixteen years ago?"
Ye Youge couldn't understand his expression, so she just said truthfully, "Yes, when I was a kid, I was on a boat and it sank..."
Qi Ye suddenly laughed, "It's you... I knew it."
"Mr. Qi, what do you mean by this?" Ye Youge was confused.
Qi Ye was at a loss for words, "Don't you remember anything at all? We met before the shipwreck, and your lucky water bottle was snatched from me. You weren't called Ye Youge at that time." He just thought she had forgotten because she was young, which was not surprising.
