The passersby were trembling with fear, hiding in a corner, afraid to make a sound.
They watched the sudden fight and chase, their hearts filled with fear and unease.
Xu Yuehuai's heart was like a small boat struggling in a storm; she tried her best to escape the clutches of the Wan Hua Lou.
Suddenly, she caught sight of a carriage speeding by, and without hesitation, she crawled under it and clung tightly to the crossbar.
The carriage jolted and bumped, carrying her away from that perilous place.
The guards of Wan Hua Lou and their secret agents chased after him, only to find that Xu Yuehuai had already disappeared. They were furious.
"I can't believe she managed to escape!"
"Expand the search area immediately!"
"Don't let her leave the capital alive!"
Both sides immediately sent their men to search everywhere.
...
The carriage drove into a bustling courtyard and stopped to the side.
Xu Yuehuai's heartbeat gradually returned to normal. She cautiously peeked out and looked around.
The courtyard was brightly lit and bustling with noise, clearly a grand banquet was being held. She dared not relax for a moment and immediately sought a secluded place to hide.
Her gaze fell on a secluded corner, where some odds and ends were piled up, seemingly a perfect hiding place. She tiptoed over, afraid of making a sound. She moved slowly against the wall, as if performing a silent dance.
Finally, she reached the corner and quickly slipped inside. Her heart raced again, as if it would leap out of her chest.
She closed her eyes tightly, trying to calm her breathing. The thrilling scene of her escape kept replaying in her mind, as if the guards who had been chasing her were still relentlessly pursuing her.
She didn't know how much time had passed before Xu Yuehuai dared to open her eyes. She looked around to make sure she was safe. She breathed a sigh of relief, and her tense nerves finally relaxed.
However, she did not let her guard down and continued to carefully observe everything around her.
Suddenly, a burst of laughter broke the silence of the courtyard. Xu Yuehuai immediately held her breath, listening intently. She heard someone approaching her hiding place, and her heart leaped into her throat once more.
Fortunately, the man didn't notice her. He simply lingered by the pile of junk for a moment before leaving.
Xu Yuehuai breathed a long sigh of relief; she knew she was safe for the time being.
She remained vigilant, prepared for any potential danger. However, as time passed, the noise in the courtyard gradually subsided. She realized that the banquet was likely nearing its end.
Xu Yuehuai decided to take this opportunity to leave the courtyard. She slowly crawled out from the pile of clutter, looked around to make sure no one was paying attention to her, and then quietly walked towards the courtyard's exit.
Her steps were light yet firm, like those of an elegant dancer. She weaved through the crowd, avoiding everyone's gaze, and finally reached the exit of the courtyard.
Xu Yuehuai's figure once again blended into the bustling street. The bright lights under the night sky reflected on her face, adding a touch of determination and resolve to her appearance.
She stood in the crowd, feeling the cool night breeze gently caressing her cheeks, as if the breeze could carry away the fear and unease in her heart. She took a deep breath, her heartbeat gradually calming, and her eyes hardening.
However, just as she was about to leave the bustling street, a luxurious carriage came from the direction of the banquet hall, catching her attention.
The carriage was exquisitely decorated, shimmering with light and color, and looked exceptionally luxurious. Xu Yuehuai's gaze fell on the carriage window, and through it, she saw Qi Guze sitting inside.
Qi Guze's face remained cold and stern, but his eyes revealed a hint of fatigue.
A beautiful woman sat beside him, her makeup exquisite and her smile radiant, a stark contrast to Qi Guze's coldness.
Xu Yuehuai's heart pounded instantly, as if it would leap out of her chest. She stared at the carriage in disbelief, a renewed surge of unease and fear washing over her!
The woman in the carriage seemed to sense something. She turned to look at Qi Guze and asked, "What's wrong?"
Qi Guze shook his head slightly and said softly, "It's nothing."
His gaze inadvertently swept towards the outside of the carriage curtain, but he did not see Xu Yuehuai. However, the unease in his heart grew stronger, as if someone was secretly observing him.
Xu Yuehuai dared not linger any longer. She quietly followed behind the carriage, carefully keeping her distance. She passed through bustling streets and narrow alleys, finally arriving at the gate of the General's Mansion.
Qi Guze and the beautiful woman got off the carriage together and walked into the gate of the general's mansion.
Xu Yuehuai stood in the shadows, watching their figures disappear through the door, her doubts growing ever deeper.
Why did Qi Guze suddenly appear here?
Why is there a woman accompanying him again?
She stood in the night, her figure appearing somewhat lonely. The streetlights reflected on her face, adding to her melancholy.
Xu Yuehuai pressed her lips tightly together, as if trying hard to control her emotions. She didn't know how to face all of this, nor how to deal with the doubts and unease in her heart.
However, she knew she had to find Qi Guze and find out what was really going on. She couldn't let her heart remain suspended in mid-air, unable to settle down.
The night was as dark as ink, dotted with stars. Xu Yuehuai stood on the quiet, deserted street, taking a deep breath, as if trying to absorb the power of tranquility and darkness into her body to help her face the challenges to come.
Then, her figure gradually disappeared down the street and into the night, like a black cat, agile and nimble.
Her gaze was firm, and her face revealed an unwavering determination, like the brightest star in the night sky, shining with a unique light even in the darkness.
She decided to go to the General's Mansion to find Qi Guze when it got late at night, determined to find out the truth of everything.
...
In the stillness of the night, Xu Yuehuai gently adjusted her clothes and veil to ensure there were no oversights, and then quietly walked towards the General's Mansion.
He walked each step carefully, as if afraid of disturbing the tranquility of the night.
The guards at the General's Mansion were a little lax in the dead of night, and Xu Yuehuai took the opportunity to climb over the wall and enter. Her movements were swift and agile, like a swallow dancing in the night.
"call out--!"
However, she did not expect that there were traps in the general's mansion. She accidentally triggered a hidden trap, and a burst of sharp arrows shot towards her.
Xu Yuehuai's expression changed. She quickly dodged, but unfortunately there were too many arrows, and she was still hit by several of them!
