Chapter 1502 Don't Kill Him

Xu Yuehuai's room was simply furnished with a bed and a set of table and chairs. There was also a window in the room from which one could see the street outside.

She stood by the window, observing for a while. Counting the time, she had been here for a full half month, from initially just getting by to now wanting to find out the origin of the jade pendant.

She wasn't sure what she would experience along the way, or whether she would ever see Qi Guze again.

As Xu Yuehuai stroked the surface of the jade pendant, all the restlessness in her heart dissipated.

"That's impossible. I don't think Senior Brother is that kind of person. Maybe the two of them just have something to talk about?" Ding He remained skeptical of his junior sister's guess.

After all, he personally really liked his senior brother.

Yu Er slammed her hand on the table and stood up. "How could you think of things so simply? A man and a woman alone, late at night, isn't it obvious?"

Ding He frowned, not wanting to continue the topic. He didn't speak. He felt that Xu Yuehuai wasn't that kind of person, and there was no such feeling between her and Shi Zhiyu. Instead, they seemed like old friends of many years.

Ding He realized he couldn't reason with Yu Er, so he simply stopped talking and stayed quietly to the side.

Jin Nan listened attentively without saying a word.

Seeing that her two senior brothers didn't care about what she said, Yu Er became furious and went back to her room in a huff.

As she passed by Xu Yuehuai's room, her eyes darkened.

...

The next morning, Shi Zhiyu knocked on Xu Yuehuai's door, but no one answered for a long time. Shi Zhiyu found this strange and worried that something had happened to Xu Yuehuai, so he opened the door and went inside.

But what came into view was a clean room, completely empty, without even a package; clearly, the person had long since left.

Jin Nan and the others waited downstairs. When Shi Zhi came down, Yu Er thought Xu Yuehuai hadn't gotten up yet and said sarcastically, "We agreed yesterday that we would all leave together and leave early, but it's already so late and we still can't see anyone."

Shi Zhi did not answer her question, but only said, "Let's go."

Yu Er was stunned for a moment, not expecting that her two simple sentences would directly lead to Shi Zhi not taking Xu Yuehuai with him.

Seeing this, Ding He disagreed, "Isn't it a bit inappropriate for us to just leave Miss Xu here? She could easily encounter danger if she's alone here."

Shi Zhiyu glanced at him with a dark and unreadable expression, then said, "You should worry more about yourself. If a fight breaks out, Xu Yuehuai will still be the one protecting you."

Ding Heyi choked. His strength was indeed good within his sect, but if he were outside, it would be completely inadequate.

Shi Zhiyu looked at the group, and it was clear that if he didn't give them a reasonable explanation today, they would keep arguing all the way. "Xu Yuehuai left on his own."

After saying that, he turned and left without paying attention to the expressions of the people behind him.

Of the three, Yu Er was the happiest.

*

The night before, Xu Yuehuai thought a lot. She didn't think Shi Zhiyu was a bad person. She and Shi Zhiyu had barely spoken a few words, but there was a kind of inexplicable tacit understanding between them. But she didn't remember Shi Zhiyu. So, could it be that she had forgotten something?

Xu Yuehuai didn't understand, so the next morning she hurriedly got up, packed her things and left. She wanted to find out what was going on, and before she did, she wanted to stay away from Shi Zhiyu for the time being.

As for the Ghost Forest, Shi Zhiyu had told her a lot about it along the way yesterday, so she should be able to get through it smoothly.

Xu Yuehuai lay leisurely on the blanket, using her spiritual power to move forward.

Some cultivators on the road saw it, and a few with ulterior motives wanted to rush up and snatch it, but they were unsure of Xu Yuehuai's strength, so most of them did not dare to step forward.

"Hey!" Suddenly, someone appeared in front of Xu Yuehuai to block her way. Helpless, she originally wanted to walk over the person's head, but unexpectedly, the person directly made a move and blocked her way.

Xu Yuehuai stopped, displeased, and asked in an unfriendly tone, "What?"

"Hand over your magical artifact, and I might let you go." Xu Yuehuai looked at the thin, unshaven man and wondered where he got such confidence.

"What will you do if I don't give it to you?" The man's face darkened.

"Then leave your corpse and your magical artifact behind!"

A large crowd had gathered around, some there to watch the show, others hoping to profit from the chaos later.

Seeing that Xu Yuehuai didn't seem to want to cooperate, the man pulled out his large machete from behind and charged at her.

Xu Yuehuai stood motionless, which, to outsiders, looked like she was terrified and didn't know what to do.

"Ah, what a pity that this woman has such a beautiful face, she's just a pretty face. If this knife comes down, she'll probably be cut in half."

"Who says otherwise! I want to play around with her some more! Don't kill her, leave her alive so I can play with her until she's dead! Just thinking about it is so satisfying!"

"Haha, you still want to do this kind of thing in this kind of situation, you really have no taste."

Xu Yuehuai listened to the foul language around her and couldn't understand why Aunt Pu thought this place was so nice.

However, in Xu Yuehuai's eyes, it seemed as if the man was wielding the knife in slow motion; just as the knife was about to strike her, she dodged to the side.

The crowd was somewhat disappointed that they did not see Xu Yuehuai splatter blood on the spot.

"Are you holding back? You can't bring yourself to touch such a pretty girl? You're such a man who only thinks with his lower body!" Several other voices chimed in.

Everyone began to doubt the man's abilities.

The man glanced at the knife in his hand, then at Xu Yuehuai, and frowned.

He raised his knife and attacked Xu Yuehuai again. He assumed it was just a coincidence that Xu Yuehuai dodged the first attack.

But what happens next?

First time.

The second time.

The third time...

Unable to even touch the hem of Xu Yuehuai's clothes, the man began to panic.

His hand gripping the knife turned white, and his steps became unsteady. "I...I don't want it anymore...I'm leaving now."

The man then fled in panic, fearing that the people behind him would catch up with him.

People around him saw him like that and began to mock him.

"Tch! I thought he was something special. I was with him the whole way, and he kept bragging about how amazing his swordsmanship was, but this is what he's like."

"It's shameful that you can't even beat a little girl." One of the burly men, with a fleshy face, said, "Watch this!"

"Little girl, I'll say it again: if you can't withstand one punch from me, hand over the magical weapon!" The burly man looked at Xu Yuehuai with a serious and determined gaze.

Xu Yuehuai said casually, "By the way, do you guys always talk so much nonsense before you fight?"

Xu Yuehuai's words were tantamount to a provocation against the strong man.
