They were made to sit together, their hands tightly bound together, unable to move freely.
The carriage bumped and swayed as it traveled through the alleyways.
Xu Yuehuai kept her eyes tightly closed, trying her best to remain calm.
Finally, the carriage stopped at the back door of a tall building. They were led into the building and locked in a room.
The room was simply furnished, with only a worn-out bed and some basic necessities.
The man's henchmen stood at the door, their expressions cold and wary.
Xu Yuehuai stood by the window, looking at the bustling crowds and busy streets outside, a strong longing welled up in her heart.
She knew she had to find a way to escape, or she would never be able to get rid of this nightmare.
What are we here to do?
"If we can do this well, will we gain our freedom?"
"This might be our last chance!"
The girls next to them started talking together, imagining their wonderful future lives.
Xu Yuehuai listened to their conversation from the side, but felt that this operation must be very unusual.
She then began to observe the patterns of the man's men's movements, looking for an opportunity to escape.
"Knock knock knock..."
One afternoon, Xu Yuehuai suddenly heard a strange noise coming from outside the room.
She walked to the door and cautiously peered out through the crack.
There stood a heavily made-up old woman, smiling broadly, outside the door.
Xu Yuehuai sensed that this person had ill intentions, so she immediately retreated.
The elderly woman pushed open the door and entered, exuding a strong scent of perfume. Her gaze swept over Xu Yuehuai and the other girls, revealing a satisfied smile.
"Your looks are quite good, and your figures are also good. I believe that after my training, you will definitely become the strongest dancers in the imperial city!"
Xu Yuehuai and the other girls exchanged glances, all feeling somewhat uneasy.
They knew that the old woman had come to teach them to dance, and that there was often a deeper purpose hidden behind the act of learning to dance.
Sure enough, not long after, the old woman called over several women, all of whom were experienced dancers, to teach Xu Yuehuai and the others dance techniques.
Every day, Xu Yuehuai spends long days and nights in her room, constantly practicing dance until she is completely exhausted.
She dared not slack off in the slightest, because she knew that only by mastering the dance techniques could she possibly escape this terrible place.
While practicing the dance, Xu Yuehuai constantly observed the guards and the surrounding environment.
She discovered that the security here was extremely tight, and there was almost no chance of escape.
However, she did not give up. She believed that as long as she observed carefully, she would eventually find an opportunity.
One evening, while Xu Yuehuai was practicing dance, she suddenly noticed that there seemed to be fewer guards outside. An idea struck her, and she decided to take the opportunity to test the waters.
So she deliberately fell while dancing, taking the opportunity to observe the guards' reaction.
The guards heard the noise and immediately came over.
He saw Xu Yuehuai lying on the ground and frowned: "What happened to you?"
Taking advantage of the situation, Xu Yuehuai pretended to be weak and said, "I feel very dizzy, I might have heatstroke."
The guard frowned, hesitated for a moment, and said, "Then I'll call a doctor to take a look."
Xu Yuehuai was overjoyed; she knew her chance had come.
Next, the guards arranged for Xu Yuehuai to go to a separate room.
A moment later, the guard brought in a doctor.
The doctor examined Xu Yuehuai and prescribed some medicine.
After the guard saw the doctor off, he said to Xu Yuehuai, "You should rest well and continue practicing dance tomorrow." With that, he turned and left the room.
Xu Yuehuai secretly rejoiced, knowing that she had to seize this opportunity.
After the guards had gone far away, she carefully observed the situation outside and, finding no one guarding the door, she quickly took out her hairpin and pried open the lock.
After slipping out of the room, she jogged down the corridor, her heart filled with tension and anticipation. She didn't know if she could escape successfully, but she decided to take the gamble.
Xu Yuehuai carefully walked up the stairs, each step filled with tension and unease.
She dared not make a sound, for fear of alerting the other guards.
Finally, she arrived at the door on the rooftop. She took a deep breath and gently pushed the door open.
Outside the door was a pitch-black night sky, with countless stars twinkling faintly.
Standing on the edge of the rooftop, Xu Yuehuai felt a surge of unprecedented freedom. She knew she was getting further and further away from that hellish place.
She took a deep breath, opened her arms as if to embrace the whole world.
Just then, a hand suddenly grabbed her shoulder.
Xu Yuehuai's heart skipped a beat. She turned around in horror and saw that the man's strongest subordinate was standing behind her, his face twisted into a ferocious expression.
A cold light flashed in his eyes, like two sharp blades piercing Xu Yuehuai's heart. A cruel smile curled at the corner of his mouth, like a cheetah eyeing its prey.
"Trying to escape?" The henchman sneered, his voice filled with endless mockery and contempt. "Do you think you can escape my grasp?"
Xu Yuehuai's heart sank; she knew she had no way out. She forcefully broke free from the guard's grasp, her body springing up like a spring as she charged towards the henchman.
The two figures intersected in the air, stirring up a gust of wind.
That subordinate was extremely strong, swift and ruthless. His hand gripped Xu Yuehuai's arm tightly, like an iron clamp.
Xu Yuehuai felt a sharp pain, but she did not give up. She struggled and tried to break free from the subordinate's control.
Then, Xu Yuehuai took a deep breath, and with a sudden burst of strength, she broke free from the subordinate's grasp. She seized the opportunity to take out a hairpin, her only weapon.
"Whoosh—!"
She thrust her hairpin fiercely at her subordinate, the hairpin tracing a sharp line in the air.
The subordinate was caught off guard by Xu Yuehuai's sudden counterattack. He took a step back in alarm, but it was too late.
The hairpin pierced his chest, and blood instantly stained his clothes. He stared wide-eyed at Xu Yuehuai in disbelief, as if he couldn't believe he had been defeated by this seemingly weak woman.
Xu Yuehuai gave him no chance; she suddenly pulled out her hairpin and stabbed at the subordinate again.
This time, she showed no mercy, and the hairpin pierced directly through the heart of her subordinate.
"ah--!"
The subordinate screamed and collapsed, motionless.
Xu Yuehuai was panting; her body was utterly exhausted. She knew she had to leave this place as soon as possible.
