"I will personally lead the hunt tomorrow, and I won't let you suffer here." Xu Yuehuai's voice rang out in the silent cave, breaking the silence.
Upon hearing this, the leader quickly declined, saying, "How could we trouble the Holy Maiden? It should be us who go."
"I was just thinking of stretching my muscles, no trouble at all." Xu Yuehua smiled, a smile that seemed to dispel all gloom.
No matter how difficult the road ahead, she will stand with this tribe through thick and thin.
That night, the tribespeople sat together in the cave, sharing the limited food, as well as each other's warmth and courage.
Xu Yuehuai's decision was like a shot in the arm, rekindling the flame of hope in everyone's hearts.
They firmly believe that Xu Yuehuai, this mysterious and powerful saintess, will become their strongest support and lead them to a brighter future.
As a new day begins, Xu Yuehuai, along with Yan Qing, Wang Mang, and a group of eager tribe members, sets off for a hunt in the undamaged mountains.
Along the way, their hearts were filled with anticipation for the day's harvest.
However, as the sun rose high in the sky and continued to set, their baskets contained only a few skinny wild rabbits and a few inconspicuous small animals, making them look particularly meager.
Wang Mang frowned, his rough voice tinged with dissatisfaction: "This... this isn't even enough to fill my teeth. Wild beasts used to roam freely in these mountains, why is it so desolate today?"
Xu Yuehuai's gaze was deep as he looked into the distance: "It seems that the extinction of the beasts began at this unusual moment."
Upon hearing this, a glint flashed in Yan Qing's eyes, as if he had thought of something, and he said urgently, "Then where should we go! Perhaps we can find clues at the place where we found the beast carcass before."
Upon hearing this, Xu Yuehuai nodded slightly, a hint of approval flashing in her eyes.
So the group quickly changed direction, with Yan Qing taking the lead, his steps agile, like a keen cheetah, leading everyone toward their destination.
Soon, they arrived at that chilling wilderness, where countless wild animal carcasses were scattered on the ground, and the air was filled with a faint smell of blood and decay.
Upon seeing this, Wang Mang was enraged. He clenched his fists and his voice was low and furious: "Who on earth is so wasteful as to let these innocent lives die so tragically?" His anger seemed to burn away the gloom of this wilderness.
Xu Yuehuai calmly observed the surroundings and instructed, "You guys, first move these beast carcasses back to the cave as food reserves. Also, leave two people here to keep watch and pay close attention to the surrounding movements to see who is causing this trouble."
"yes!"
Upon hearing this, the people of the tribe immediately sprang into action, with clear division of labor and orderly conduct.
"And what about us?" Wang Mang asked anxiously.
Xu Yuehuai pondered for a moment before speaking, "Let's go look for other wild beasts and see if there are any survivors. It's impossible for all the wild beasts to have been wiped out overnight."
“Yes, we can always find clues. Now it’s my turn!” Wang Mang immediately sniffed the scent around him.
"Your nose really is a compass; I hope it'll be of the highest use this time!" Yan Qing smiled faintly.
The three then continued deeper into the mountains to search for other clues.
"Hmph! Hmph!"
Suddenly, a deep growl rang in their ears. They followed the sound and saw a huge, fierce-looking wolf lying in the grass, very similar to the wolves they had dealt with in the tomb.
“This wolf looks familiar,” Xu Yuehuai said in a low voice, the dagger in his hand flashing coldly in the sunlight. “It seems similar to the grave wolf we encountered before, and it may not be easy to deal with.”
Yan Qing gripped his longsword tightly. "We have to try. We can't let these threats continue to exist."
"Then let's go!" Xu Yuehuai waved his hand.
"kill!"
As soon as they finished speaking, the three of them launched an attack simultaneously!
Xu Yuehuai moved nimbly, her dagger weaving through the wolf shadows like a dragon; Yan Qing's swordsmanship was fierce, each strike aimed straight for the vital points; Wang Mang wielded a heavy stone weapon, using brute force to overcome skill, repeatedly driving the wolves away!
Half an hour later, the wolves all fell into pools of blood.
However, a large number of strangely shaped insects gathered around, seemingly attracted by the smell of blood, and were eager to move.
Xu Yuehuai's expression was grave: "The appearance of even these poisonous insects means that the manipulator behind them is about to reveal themselves. We cannot allow these insects to go back and report; we must completely eliminate them!"
The three figures weaved through the swarm of insects, each swing of their swords and each throw accompanied by endless carnage and sacrifice. Sweat and blood mingled, blurring their vision, but could not extinguish the belief and determination in their hearts.
This battle is not only a test of physical strength, but also a test of willpower.
As the last chirp of an insect faded away, blood dripped continuously from the weapons in the hands of Xu Yuehuai, Yan Qing, and Wang Mang.
"What kind of hell is this place?" Wang Mang complained gruffly, trying to shake off the sticky filth and exhaustion on his body.
His gaze swept around, and he saw that the ground, which had been fairly solid, suddenly began to tremble slightly. Then, a deafening roar came from underground, and the entire area seemed to be torn apart by an invisible hand, with a huge crack spreading out from beneath their feet.
"Run!" Xu Yuehuai reacted quickly. She grabbed Wang Mang beside her and used the momentum to leap onto a relatively stable rock.
Seeing this, Yan Qing quickly followed. The three of them used their extraordinary skills to traverse through the collapsed rocks, each step teetering on the edge of life and death.
However, just as they were about to escape this land of death, the sky suddenly darkened, and several enormous birds swooped down at incredible speed, their sharp claws gleaming coldly, aiming straight for the three men's vitals.
Xu Yuehuai drew her dagger, ready to fight back, but the birds were too fast. She could only barely avoid vital points, and was grabbed by the ankle by the sharp claws of one of the birds of prey, instantly being lifted off the ground.
"Yan Qing! Wang Mang! Be careful!" Xu Yuehuai's voice faded in the wind. She felt dizzy and the scenery around her rushed by.
Moments later, she fell heavily onto an unfamiliar wilderness, the pain causing her to almost lose consciousness.
Yan Qing and Wang Mang were not spared either; they were captured by different birds and left in this desolate place, far apart from each other.
Wang Mang struggled to his feet and looked around. He saw a vast wilderness he had never seen before, with bare rocks and sparse bushes all around. In the distance, he could faintly hear the roars of wild beasts, which sent chills down his spine.
"Let me out!" Wang Mang roared, but no one answered. An unprecedented despair welled up in his heart, but it was quickly replaced by a strong will to survive.
