Chapter 783 The One Who Breaks the Game

The food here is even worse now than it was back then. What's going on?

She took a deep breath, trying to make her voice sound calm: "Why is the food here so bad?"

The little girl put her hands on her hips and said disdainfully, "Who do you think you are? This isn't the capital city; we're lucky to have anything to eat here! Take it or leave it!"

After saying that, she turned to leave.

Xu Yuehuai hurriedly stopped her: "Wait a minute! Tell me first, what exactly happened here?"

The little girl stopped, turned around and looked at her, sighed and said, "In recent years, the whole country has been in turmoil. First, there were years of natural disasters, and then there was war. Food and supplies are very scarce, where would we find anything extra to eat?"

Xu Yuehuai remained silent for a moment. She remembered that when she left the Mingyue Kingdom, the country was still prosperous. She never expected that so many changes would occur in just a few years.

It's all the fault of the new emperor of the Mingyue Kingdom for launching a war against the Wuling Kingdom, which has led to this situation.

Her gaze fell on the bowl of dark rice on the table, and she felt a mix of emotions.

Seeing that she didn't speak, the little girl impatiently urged, "Are you going to eat or not? If you're not going to eat, then go hungry!" After saying that, she turned around and walked out of the room.

Xu Yuehuai stared blankly at the empty room, feeling utterly lost. The world had changed too quickly, catching her completely off guard.

She slowly sat down at the table, picked up the bowl of dark rice, and put it in her mouth, chewing slowly. The taste was unfamiliar and bitter, but it only strengthened her resolve.

We must restore the Dark Moon Kingdom to its former state!

And perhaps Ah Qi is the key to all of this!

After all, Ah Qi is the child of the former ruler of the Mingyue Kingdom's biological daughter! The blood of the Mingyue Kingdom's royal family flows in his veins! He could also become the new ruler of the Mingyue Kingdom!

When Ah Qi returned home that evening, he was completely drunk. He stumbled into Xu Yuehuai's room, and a strong smell of alcohol hit him.

Xu Yuehua frowned, looking at the usually calm and composed young man in front of her, who now seemed like a wild beast out of control, and a sense of worry welled up in her heart.

"Ah Qi, what did you go out to do?" Xu Yuehuai tried to keep her voice calm.

Ah Qi didn't say anything, he just mumbled incoherently, his face was pale and his eyes were filled with fear.

“Everyone lied to me, they all wanted to harm me…” His voice trembled slightly, as if he were telling of endless fear.

Xu Yuehuai was startled. She didn't know who "they" Ah Qi was talking about, but she could sense the unease and fear in Ah Qi.

She looked up at the window; the moonlight spilled onto the ground, casting a silvery glow. Yet, within this silvery light, she seemed to see some dark shadows moving about, and a sense of unease crept into her heart.

She knew she couldn't let anyone discover that Ah Qi was here. She quickly took out her silver needles and skillfully inserted them into several of Ah Qi's acupoints.

Ah Qi's body trembled, and his eyes slowly closed.

Xu Yuehuai breathed a sigh of relief. She quickly closed the doors and windows to make sure no one could see inside.

She couldn't help but feel nervous; she sensed that this matter was more complicated than she had imagined.

Time passed second by second, and Xu Yuehuai remained seated in the chair, her eyes never leaving Aqi.

Her mind was in turmoil, and she didn't know what to do. All she could do was wait, wait for Ah Qi to wake up, and wait for the truth to come to light.

Night fell, and the room was completely silent. Only Ah Qi's breathing and Xu Yuehuai's heartbeat mingled in the air.

Xu Yuehuai held silver needles in her hand, ready to react immediately to any movement from Aqi.

After an unknown amount of time, Ah Qi's body suddenly moved. Xu Yuehuai immediately became alert, seeing Ah Qi slowly open her eyes, her gaze now clear again.

"Ah Qi, how are you?" Xu Yuehuai immediately stepped forward and asked.

Ah Qi was stunned for a moment, then looked around. "How did I get here? What happened?"

Xu Yuehua briefly told Aqi what had happened, and she saw a hint of doubt and fear flash across Aqi's face.

"I don't know why I feel this way, but I always feel like someone is watching me," Ah Qi said in a low voice.

Xu Yuehuai was startled; she knew what Aqi had said was true. She sensed that something was amiss in the atmosphere around her, as if an invisible pressure was gradually approaching.

She knew they had to leave as soon as possible, but she also knew they couldn't just leave in such a rush. She needed more information, more clues.

“We have to get out of here,” Xu Yuehuai said. “But before that, we need to find more clues to make sure we’re on the right and safe route.”

The two moved cautiously, avoiding the guards outside, and quietly arrived at the camp where Ah Qi had been. The camp was quiet, with only the soft rustling of the breeze through the empty tents.

Under the cover of night, Xu Yuehuai and Aqi quietly moved through the camp. Aqi came to his tent, took out a silver needle from his pocket, and gently fiddled with the knot on the tent flap.

It was a special mark, known only to him and a few close friends. Xu Yuehuai observed from the side, noticing that A Qi's expression had turned serious.

He untied the knot and lifted the tent flap. The tent was pitch black inside, with only moonlight filtering through the gaps, casting dappled shadows.

Ah Qi groped his way to a box, opened it, and took out a thick stack of letters.

Xu Yuehuai leaned closer to take a look and found that all the letters were addressed to Aqi, and the recipient was a person called "Wizard".

She was startled; it seemed that the relationship between Ah Qi and the wizard was indeed not simple. Ah Qi quickly flipped through the letters, his expression growing increasingly grim.

Suddenly, he stopped what he was doing and pulled a map from a letter. Xu Yuehuai leaned closer to look and found that it was a map of the Mingyue Kingdom, marked with some red symbols.

A thought struck her: what exactly do these markings represent?

Ah Qi frowned deeply. "This is a map the wizard gave me. He told me to follow this route to find someone."

Xu Yuehuai was stunned. "Find someone? Why would you do that?"

Ah Qi didn't answer her question. He looked up at the outside of the tent, a resolute glint in his eyes. "We need to get out of here quickly," he said. "It'll be troublesome if these letters are discovered."

Xu Yuehuai didn't press the matter further; she knew that leaving safely was the most important thing right now. The two quickly left the camp and disappeared into the night.
