Xu Yuehuai and Yan Qing were skilled swordsmen, and the guards were well-trained. They used their wisdom and courage to turn danger into safety time and time again.
"Everyone be careful!" a guard suddenly shouted.
A huge black bear appeared before them, its eyes wide with rage, looking malevolent.
"Form ranks!" Yan Qing decisively issued the order.
The guards quickly formed a defensive formation, surrounding the black bear. The bear roared and charged at them, its massive claws slamming into the ground, making their ears ring.
Xu Yuehuai and Yan Qing stood in front of Xia Sen, their longswords gleaming coldly. They used precise swordsmanship to repel the black bear's attacks time and time again, but the black bear seemed endless, charging forward again and again.
"This can't go on!" Xia Sen shouted. "We have to think of a way to distract it."
At that moment, a guard swiftly picked up a stone from the side and threw it forcefully into the distance.
The black bear was attracted by the rock and turned to chase after it.
Xu Yuehuai and Yan Qing seized the opportunity and led their team to a swift retreat.
"Run!" Xia Sen shouted.
They traversed dense forests and crossed mountain ridges, finally leaving the black bear behind. "That was really dangerous."
Yan Qing said, panting, "That black bear is really not easy to deal with."
"As long as we are united, nothing can stop us," Xu Yuehuai said firmly. "We are not far from our goal now, and we must go all the way."
Xu Yuehuai and Yan Qing exchanged a glance, both seeing the determination in each other's eyes. They knew that successfully traversing the mountains to find that rare medicinal herb was the little princess's only hope.
"Xia Sen, you're injured. Why don't you rest for a bit?" Xu Yuehuai asked with concern.
Xia Sen shook his head, gritted his teeth, and said, "It's okay, I can still hold on."
Yan Qing nodded in agreement with Xia Sen's opinion: "Let's move on, it's getting late."
Thus, Xia Sen was wounded in the middle, Xu Yuehuai followed closely behind, while Yan Qing and the other guards protected them, and the group continued to venture deeper into the mountains.
The mountain path was rugged and uneven, but they were undeterred by the hardships and followed closely behind Xu Yuehuai and Xia Sen. As darkness gradually fell, they did not stop.
Yan Qing looked up at the sky, a hint of worry in his heart, but he didn't voice it. He knew that the most important thing now was to keep moving and find a safe place to rest as soon as possible.
As night fell, the group found a relatively flat place to rest.
Xia Sen leaned against a large tree, his face pale, clearly unable to sleep due to the pain from his wounds.
Xu Yuehuai sat silently to the side, her eyes filled with worry.
“We need to find a safe place as soon as possible to treat your wounds,” Yan Qing said.
“Okay,” Xia Sen coughed lightly, “We still have to move forward tomorrow, let’s rest first.”
The other guards also found a place to sit down and rested quietly.
In the night sky, the stars twinkled faintly, as if illuminating their path forward.
The next morning, the group continued deeper into the mountains. The mountain path became increasingly rugged, but they did not stop.
Although Xia Sen was pale, he continued to move forward resolutely. Xu Yuehuai stayed by his side the whole time, protecting him.
The group had been trekking through the mountains for a day. The journey had felt like an endless ordeal; though their steps never faltered, their hearts were filled with exhaustion and unwavering faith.
"We've finally arrived," Xu Yuehuai said, her voice tinged with weariness, but even more so with determination.
She looked up at the cliff in front of her, a steep precipice that resembled a sharp sword piercing the sky, inspiring awe and fear.
Xia Sen nodded silently. He was a man of few words, but his eyes were full of determination.
He looked around and found that the terrain was extremely treacherous, as if nature had deliberately set up an obstacle for them.
"Everyone be careful, the terrain here is dangerous," Xia Sen warned. Although his voice wasn't loud, everyone heard him clearly. "We need to go down into the valley; we might be able to find some medicinal herbs there!"
Yan Qing nodded. He was a shrewd and capable person. Although he was not as strong as Xu Yuehuai and Xia Sen, his wisdom and quick wit benefited them a lot on their journey.
The group began to descend the mountain path, carefully avoiding dangerous areas, fearing that they might accidentally fall off the cliff.
The rocks on the cliff were loose, as if they could slip and fall at any moment. Xu Yuehuai, Xia Sen, Yan Qing, and the others felt a surge of tension. They knew that if something unexpected happened, they would have a hard time escaping.
Just then, a mountain eagle flew overhead, letting out a sharp cry. Yan Qing looked up and saw the eagle circling in the air, its gaze fixed on a patch of grass below the cliff.
Yan Qing's heart tightened; he sensed something was amiss. He carefully examined the patch of grass and discovered that something seemed to be hidden within it.
"Watch out!" Yan Qing shouted as he rushed into the bushes.
Xu Yuehuai and Xia Sen also realized the danger, and they followed closely behind Yan Qing, rushing into the bushes.
Just then, a gust of wind blew, and the loose rocks on the cliff edge began to slide down.
Xu Yuehuai, Xia Sen, Yan Qing, and the others knew that if they didn't leave this place soon, they would have a hard time escaping.
They rushed towards the bushes, eager to find out what was going on. But just as they were about to reach the bushes, a huge snake darted out and pounced on them.
Xu Yuehuai was startled. He looked up and saw a huge snake coiled on the edge of the cliff, its eyes gleaming with cunning.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm her panic, and then said to Xia Sen, Yan Qing and the others beside her, "Everyone be careful, this is a life-or-death struggle."
Xia Sen, Yan Qing, and the others nodded solemnly upon hearing this. They knew Xu Yuehuai was right; at this moment, they had to do everything in their power to survive this life-or-death struggle.
Just then, the giant snake suddenly attacked them. It opened its blood-red maw and lunged at them.
Xu Yuehuai and the others quickly dodged, but several guards were still bitten by snakes and fell to the ground.
"Don't scatter!" Xu Yuehua shouted.
She knew that if they split up, they would be more easily picked off one by one by the snakes.
Upon hearing this, Xia Sen, Yan Qing, and the others immediately gathered together and launched an attack on the giant snake.
They brandished their weapons, trying to drive the snake away. But the snake seemed to possess boundless strength and cunning wisdom; it constantly evaded their attacks while simultaneously launching its own.
