Chapter 1439 Disaster Strikes

In the deep darkness of the night, Xu Yuehuai suddenly awoke from her dream, a faint, almost imperceptible smell of gunpowder lingering in the air—a harbinger of disaster.

She quickly got up, put on her coat, and hurried towards the door, her heart filled with unease.

"Yuehuai, what happened?" Yunshang followed closely behind, her voice trembling slightly.

The sight before them shocked them both – the once magnificent palace was now half-destroyed, with firelight and smoke mingling among the broken walls, resembling a living hell.

"It seems the fake ghost doctor made his move sooner than we expected." Xu Yuehuai's temples bulged with veins.

“Then we…” Yunshang.

"I'm going to find out the truth. You must leave here immediately and go to a safe place," Xu Yuehuai commanded without room for argument. She then summoned a member loyal to the Transmigrators' Organization and entrusted Yunshang to him. "Take her away, the farther the better."

As she turned around, Xu Yuehuai looked towards the direction of the Wuling King's palace. "I'm going to find the Wuling King. He absolutely cannot die."

However, when Xu Yuehuai rushed to the palace of the Prince of Wuling, the scene before her eyes was once again beyond her expectations.

The King of Wuling, this once spirited and vigorous ruler, now lies quietly in a pool of blood, his face serene, but his eyes closed forever.

"Prince Wuling," Xu Yuehuai called softly, her voice filled with grief and resentment, "I will avenge you."

Beside her, the concubine of the Prince of Wuling wept bitterly. Her tears seemed to wash away the filth of the world, but they could not bring back her beloved.

Xu Yuehuai stepped forward, gently patted her back, and said tenderly but firmly, "Let's go. The child in your belly is the future of Wuling Kingdom and your hope."

The members of the transmigrator organization looked at each other, but in the end they obeyed Xu Yuehuai's arrangement and quietly left with the concubine of the King of Wuling.

Xu Yuehuai, alone, charged to the front lines of the battlefield.

"Brothers, take up your weapons and fight for the glory of Wuling Kingdom and for our homeland!"

Xu Yuehuai's voice echoed across the battlefield as she personally demonstrated and instructed the soldiers on how to use the bows and arrows and simple firearms brought from modern times.

However, they soon discovered that the weapons wielded by the black-robed enemies were far more advanced than they had imagined.

"How...how is this possible?" a soldier exclaimed in terror, his eyes filled with despair.

“Those aliens couldn’t possibly possess these technologies; one of us must have betrayed us.” Xu Yuehuai gritted her teeth, already having the answer in her heart. She looked around and saw resolute yet weary faces, and the indomitable eyes of her companions.

"Princess Heyue, please leave quickly. We don't want to implicate you," a soldier said with his last strength as he struggled to his feet.

"I will stand with you through thick and thin, through life and death!" Xu Yuehuai's answer was resounding, and her figure appeared exceptionally tall in the firelight.

However, at that moment, the fake ghost doctor's chilling voice, as cold as ice, pierced through the clamor of the battlefield and struck straight to the heart: "Capture her alive! She is the key to our plan!"

The men in black robes, like ghosts summoned by darkness, surged toward Xu Yuehuai in the center of the battlefield like a tide.

Her movements were lithe and graceful, her sword flashing like a tapestry. Each swing of her sword was accompanied by the fall of an enemy, yet the enemies were like endless weeds, relentlessly piling up. Sweat mingled with dust, blurring her vision, but her gaze grew ever more resolute.

"Xu Yuehuai, you can't escape!" The fake ghost doctor's voice rang out again, tinged with smugness and mockery, as if he already considered her his for the taking.

Xu Yuehuai knew that continuing to fight would only exhaust her strength, so she took advantage of a clever counterattack, flashed her figure, and rushed towards the secret passage behind the palace.

But the black-robed man's pursuit was relentless, quickly cornering her.

Just as Xu Yuehuai was preparing for a desperate fight, a familiar figure flashed into the battlefield like lightning—it was Xia Sen!

"Sister, I'm here!" Xia Sen said anxiously.

Xu Yuehua felt a warmth in her heart, but was also extremely anxious: "Danger!"

However, Xia Sen merely smiled slightly, his movements swift and agile. Wherever his sword light touched, the black-robed men fell one after another. He quickly approached, steadily catching the exhausted Xu Yuehuai, his eyes filled with heartache.

"I didn't expect your martial arts skills to have improved so much," Xu Yuehuai said with a smile.

Xia Sen said proudly, "Yes, I haven't dared to slack off for a single day. With the situation so dire, this is exactly the kind of job I need. Sister, come with me."

Without hesitation, he picked up Xu Yuehuai, used his lightness skill to leap over the palace wall, boarded the carriage that had been prepared, and disappeared into the night, leaving only the angry roars of the pursuers.

"Damn it! She got away!"

The carriage stopped in a desolate wilderness, and the two arrived at a simple but secluded thatched hut.

Xu Yuehuai asked in confusion, "Why are we stopping here first?"

Xia Sen smiled mysteriously, pushed open the door, and gestured for her to come in.

Xu Yuehuai stepped into the room and saw a person with their back to the door, fiddling with the candle on the table.

The familiar figure and familiar scent made her freeze in shock.

"Aze!" she exclaimed, rushing over to hug him tightly. "You're alive, that's wonderful!"

Qi Guze turned around, a gentle smile on his face, tears glistening in his eyes: "How could I bear to leave you? Xia Sen saved me."

The two embraced, and Xu Yuehuai felt Qi Guze's warmth, her heart filled with indescribable emotion and peace of mind.

She looked up at Xia Sen and said, "Thank you, Xia Sen."

Xia Sen shook her head, her smile as warm as ever: "Sister, there's no need for thanks between us. The most important thing now is for us to find a way to resolve this crisis."

Inside the room, the candlelight flickered gently in the breeze, like the whispers of the night, as the three sat in a circle.

Xu Yuehuai said, "We have to stay, otherwise, what will happen to Wuling Kingdom?"

Xia Sen comforted her, "Sister, don't worry. I've already made arrangements. My trusted confidants have secretly infiltrated the palace to fight alongside the loyal soldiers, determined to resist the dark forces of the fake Ghost Doctor. Moreover, I've also made contact with people in the martial arts world. Although they each have their own plans, they are all willing to lend a helping hand in the face of justice and jointly protect the peace of this continent."

Xu Yuehuai's tightly furrowed brows relaxed slightly, but then furrowed even more: "Even so, we cannot give up. Wuling Kingdom needs us. We need a more comprehensive plan, not only to rescue it from its dire straits, but also to thoroughly expose and destroy the conspiracy of the fake ghost doctor, and restore peace and order to the world."

Qi Guze stood up at this moment. "A-Yue, go with Xia Sen to the Dark Moon Kingdom. There is a way to restore your martial arts there. Leave Wuling Kingdom to me. Go in peace. I will wait for your return to fight together again."
