Chapter Fourteen: Ah Qi's Abilities

Instead, Zhou Wan and Jiang Shichen became busy. Seeing this, Xu Yuehuai was dissatisfied and quickly approached Jiang Mingfu.

"Brother and sister-in-law, you're really not keeping your distance, treating yourselves like guests!"

Seeing that Xu Yuehuai's visit was ill-intentioned, Zhou Qionghua hurriedly stood up. "Ayue, what do you mean by this? We're tired, let's rest."

"Rest for what?"

Xu Yuehuai pointed at Zhou Wan and Jiang Shichen, "They're much more tired than you, aren't they still busy?"

He added, "Go find water and firewood, and come back as soon as possible."

The eldest brother and sister-in-law reluctantly went to a distant place.

Only when Xu Yuehuai could no longer hear what they were saying did Jiang Mingfu begin to curse, "She's the second wife's daughter-in-law, and now she's starting to order us around?"

Zhou Qionghua frowned, "Isn't it all because you're such a good-for-nothing? If you had even a little bit of ability, would we be being manipulated like this?"

"What does this have to do with me?"

The two started arguing.

Seeing that the two had gone far away, Jiang Qianqian got up.

The two looked at each other. Xu Yuehuai gestured for the little maid to come closer. Jiang Qianqian walked over timidly and bowed, "Second Aunt."

"What do you mean by 'second concubine'?"

She didn't really like being called that.

This immediately reminded her of the concubines of warlords during the Republic of China era.

"You can call her Grandma from now on."

"Yes, Grandma." The little girl stood awkwardly opposite.

Xu Yuehuai handed her the only steamed bun, saying, "I know your older brother is reluctant to give you this food. He keeps saying you're a money-loser. Eat it now. Don't worry about your younger brother. Your parents will arrange for him to eat alone."

"Grandma, thank you."

Jiang Qianqian had tears in her eyes.

Xu Yuehuai patted her head, truly surprised that Jiang Mingfu and Zhou Qionghua had such a well-mannered and sensible daughter.

After eating, everyone was able to return.

Jiang Mingfu chuckled and pointed to the distance, "There's a pond over there, everyone can go and drink there."

The group headed in that direction.

At that moment, Ah Qi also arrived, carrying a blood-soaked rabbit in his hand.

Xu Yuehuai clapped her hands. "Do you really know how to hunt?"

“This is it,” he said, pulling out a slingshot. “It hits the bullseye every time.”

Xu Yuehua nodded and lifted the rabbit up. "Let's see who among you is as good as him. He's our helper and friend."

Only then did everyone's opinion change slightly.

Upon reaching the pond, the group sat down to rest under the poplar trees.

Liu Cuiming arrived just then, his clothes were torn, and he was holding a few pieces of wood in his hand.

Xu Yuehua frowned. "Incomprehensible."

Liu Cuiming contributed a pitiful few pieces of wood, and after the fire was lit, everyone sat in a row.

Clearly, this food is far from enough.

Zhou Wan was still busy, "I found some wild vegetables."

She searched for wild vegetables to eat every day, clearly distinguishing between wild vegetables and weeds. This was also a skill. Xu Yuehuai approached and picked up the edible vines.

Jiang Mingfu and his wife were in a bad mood, as if they had been abused by Xu Yuehuai.

Xu Yuehuai walked forward, gradually approaching the pond.

Just as she was about to lean closer to drink some water, Ah Qi reminded her, "Grandma, you can't go to the front."

"how?"

She was starving and parched; now, clear water was her only hope.

Ah Qi pointed to the water and then to the side of the pond. "At this time of year, there should be animals coming to drink, but there's nothing here. This can only prove two things."

"Are the animals asleep?"

Xu Yuehuai teased him on purpose.

Ah Qi said, "First, it's poisonous! Second, it's dangerous; there might be a 'pig dragon' inside."

We had only just gotten to this point in our conversation when several people nearby moved closer to get a drink.

Xu Yuehuai hurriedly reminded everyone, "Everyone, step back."

Everyone was puzzled.

But Zhou Wan, who was near the pond, smelled a strong stench.

It was the fishy smell of marine life, which puzzled her greatly. Just then, Ah Qi threw a piece of wood into the water, and a splash immediately appeared on the surface.

Xu Yuehuai took a look and realized it was the familiar death roll.

Suddenly I realized that the "pig dragon" Ah Qi was talking about was actually a crocodile.

Everyone was surprised.

Xu Yuehuai was still shaken. "Don't thank me. It was Ah Qi who saved you all. Otherwise, you would all be fish food."

No one dared to drink water.

After eating a little something, everyone took turns resting.

Qi Guze arrived just before dawn.

"Oh my, what a coincidence! Life is full of unexpected encounters."

Xu Yuehuai smiled as well, "I didn't expect to run into you here."

So far, all she knows is that Qi Guze is a person who hates evil.

His identity is special; he seems to be an important official in the Three Departments and Six Ministries.

As for the rest, we know nothing.

Xu Yuehuai never expected that the two would have much interaction, so so far they are just nodding acquaintances.

"Are you going to Chang'an?"

"Yes, to Chang'an." Qi Guze looked at Xu Yuehuai, "You have your family with you, so be careful on the road."

"Understood." Xu Yuehua nodded.

As dawn broke, Qi Guze prepared to leave.

He also gave orders to give money to Xu Yuehuai before leaving.

"Let's keep our friendship as pure as water, and forget about the money."

"Consider it a debt you owe me."

Xu Yuehuai shook her head. "Where in the world is there a free lunch?"

Just as Qi Guze was about to leave, A Qi, who had gone to scout ahead, returned excitedly. He pointed into the distance and said, "Let's go forward. There's a small town over there. It's very lively."

"Alright."

Xu Yuehuai nodded.

But at this moment, Qi Guze's eyes rolled around on A Qi's face a few times, and his gaze was very strange.

Ah Qi also sensed something unusual and awkwardly touched his nose.

"Then, farewell."

"Have a safe journey." Xu Yuehuai clasped his fists.

After watching Qi Guze and Tie Xiong leave, A Qi asked, "What is his identity? And why does he have someone protecting him?"

"He's from a wealthy family, why even think about it?"

We'll probably never meet again, so what's the point of getting to know him?

Ah Qi has many skills.

In the wild, they will determine direction based on the size of the tree canopy and look for water sources.

When he's out in public, he'll ask strangers questions in a glib and slick manner. Zhou Wan noticed this and would often have Jiang Shichen learn from him.

But Jiang Shichen scoffed at it.

The more he saw Xu Yuehuai being kind to Aqi, the more he wanted to speak up, "Grandma, open your discerning eyes and take a good look! This isn't some ten-year-old child at all! Look at what other ten-year-olds look like, but what about him?"

"Children from poor families mature early."

In Xu Yuehuai's view, there was nothing wrong with this.

But in Jiang Shichen's view, something was very wrong.

Ah Qi loves to laugh, even though everyone dislikes him, he smiles at everyone with a gentle, warm smile.

In the afternoon, we arrived in the small town.

This is a small town where tea is the main trade, and it has a large population. Ah Qi suggested that they perform acrobatics to make money. Xu Yuehuai nodded, and the two of them performed martial arts for passersby, which made everyone very happy.
