Chapter 1292 Bai Yu Blocks the Road

However, just as he was about to touch the mysterious figure, the other party suddenly turned into a black shadow and disappeared into the night.

“No need to chase,” Xu Yuehuai’s voice carried a hint of calm, “lest it be a trap.”

Bei Ye returned to Xu Yuehuai's side somewhat unwillingly, his eyes filled with doubt and wariness.

Xu Yuehuai gently patted his shoulder, indicating that he didn't need to be too nervous.

"Walk behind me later," Bei Ye said, his voice full of concern and protection for Xu Yuehuai.

However, Xu Yuehuai shook her head, "No need, I can do it."

Xu Yuehuai didn't say anything more, but quickened her pace and continued towards the palace.

Finally, they arrived at the outskirts of the palace.

Xu Yuehuai looked around and found that there were far fewer guards here than when she last came.

She couldn't help but frown, a bad feeling creeping into her heart.

"Sister, how about we go another day?" Bei Ye asked with some concern.

Xu Yuehuai said, "If we changed the date, the situation would be very different. Since we're here today, let's proceed according to the original plan."

Bei Ye watched Xu Yuehuai's retreating figure, his eyes filled with admiration and trust. He tightened his grip on the hilt of his sword and followed behind Xu Yuehuai, the two of them stepping into the palace gates together.

However, just as they entered the palace, a familiar voice suddenly rang out: "Xiaoyue, I didn't expect you to be back again."

Xu Yuehuai was startled and immediately looked in the direction of the sound. She saw a man dressed in white leaping down from the rooftop with a cynical smile on his face. It was her former friend, Bai Yu.

"You successfully returned to the Great Zhou before, and now you're back? Did you miss me?" Bai Yu's voice carried a hint of teasing.

Xu Yuehuai looked coldly at Bai Yu.

"Why did you plot against my subordinates? Why did you plot against me? Did you conspire with Song Luo?" she demanded angrily.

"I haven't done any of those things you're talking about. I've just been waiting for you here quietly." Bai Yu's face still wore that indifferent smile, as if Xu Yuehuai's anger was just a useless emotion to him.

Looking at Bai Yu's familiar yet unfamiliar face, Xu Yuehuai felt a deep sense of disappointment. She had once thought Bai Yu was her friend and partner, but now it seemed he had become unrecognizable.

"Ha, how ridiculous," Xu Yuehuai sneered. "If it weren't for you, who else would have the ability to do it? Bai Yu, you really disappoint me."

Under the bright moonlight, the corners of the palace seemed to be shrouded in a thin mist, filled with an indescribable atmosphere of solemnity.

Bai Yu, the once revered king, now resembled a lone wolf emerging from the dead of winter, his eyes cold and sharp. He stared at Xu Yuehuai, a mocking smile playing on his lips, as if he were looking at an insignificant toy.

"Disappointed? What is there to be disappointed about in me?" Bai Yu's voice was low and cold, each word like a cold blade piercing Xu Yuehuai's heart.

Xu Yuehuai looked up in astonishment, her eyes filled with confusion and pain. She had never imagined that she was such a person in Bai Yu's heart, that the companion who had once fought alongside her against the forces of darkness now regarded her as a stranger.

A sharp pain surged in Xu Yuehuai's heart, and she asked in a trembling voice, "Bai Yu, how...how could you say that?"

She seemed to want an answer from Bai Yu, an answer that could put her mind at ease.

Just then, Bei Ye suddenly appeared between the two. He stared intently at Bai Yu as if trying to see right through her. He took a deep breath, "It seems you deliberately lured my sister out." Every word Bei Ye spoke was a question and an expression of anger towards Bai Yu.

Bai Yu glanced coldly at Bei Ye, a disdainful smile playing on his lips. He sneered, "Get lost! If you know what's good for you and leave now, I might spare your life."

His voice was full of threat and unquestionable authority, as if any move by Bei Ye would bring about annihilation.

However, Bei Ye did not back down. He gripped the hilt of his sword tightly, his gaze fixed firmly on Bai Yu. He knew that his cultivation level was far inferior to Bai Yu's, but he was willing to pay any price to protect his sister.

"Bai Yu, if you dare to lay a finger on my sister, I will fight you to the death!"

Upon hearing this, Bai Yu's eyes flashed with surprise. He hadn't expected this young man to have such courage and determination. He coldly laughed, "Fine, then let me see just how capable you are." With that, he moved and attacked Bei Ye.

Seeing this, Bei Ye quickly swung his sword to meet the attack. The two exchanged blows, their swords flashing, and in the blink of an eye, they had exchanged dozens of moves.

However, the gap in strength is ultimately insurmountable.

Bei Ye was quickly struck by Bai Yu's heavy blow and fell to the ground. He struggled to get up, but his body was as if it were being crushed by a boulder, and he could not move.

Xu Yuehuai looked at Bei Ye lying on the ground, feeling a mix of guilt and anger.

She knew she couldn't let Bei Ye get hurt anymore.

So she stepped forward and stood in front of Bei Ye.

She raised her head and looked directly into Bai Yu's eyes. "Bai Yu, if you release Bei Ye, I'll go with you."

Bai Yu looked at Xu Yuehuai and remained silent for a moment. His eyes appeared even deeper and more complex in the moonlight.

Finally, he nodded and said calmly, "Okay."

Xu Yuehua felt a chill in her heart; she knew what this meant. But she had no choice but to silently follow Bai Yu into the depths of the palace.

Under the moonlight, their figures blended into the darkness, leaving behind only silence and sorrow.

Bei Ye lay on the ground, watching Xu Yuehuai's departing figure, his heart filled with endless pain and anger.

He struggled to his feet, his mind racing. He knew he had to become stronger to protect his sister and unravel the mystery.

So he turned and left, heading towards the hidden cave.

Inside the cave, Bei Ye found Lu Li, who was recuperating from his injuries. He told Lu Li the whole story, and Lu Li was shocked.

Lu Li calmly replied, "Don't worry, I'll go and gather the people from Tianxiang Tower right away. We will definitely rescue the princess as soon as possible."

As night deepened, the streets outside the palace fell into a deathly silence.

Bei Ye and Lu Li were both busy, working hard to rescue Xu Yuehuai.

This will be a bloody battle, but they are willing to pay any price for their beliefs and for her.

...

Xu Yuehuai's steps were slightly heavy as she followed Bai Yu through the winding corridors and into the magnificent palace.

Every brick and stone in the palace seemed to tell an ancient story, but Xu Yuehuai had no time to appreciate the weight of history at this moment.

"Why did you bring me here?" Xu Yuehuai's voice was tinged with wariness and unease.
