Chapter 792 The Cold Palace Princess

She was torn, hoping that Wu Hanqing would be successfully poisoned, but also fearing that her actions would bring unpredictable consequences.

Ultimately, she decided to go to Uhanqing's palace herself to find out what was going on.

As soon as she stepped out of the courtyard, she suddenly heard a woman crying, the sound shrill and tragic.

Her heart tightened, and she followed the sound. Passing through a dark grove, she came to a dilapidated palace with a weathered plaque hanging on the door that read "Cold Palace".

Xu Yuehuai's heart sank. She knew that the princesses who had been forgotten by the emperor were imprisoned here.

The crying was coming from inside. She slowly approached and found that the sound was coming from a disheveled princess.

The princess's eyes were vacant, her expression deranged. She rolled on the ground, crying her heart out, "Why? Why did I end up like this? I want to get out! I want revenge!"

Xu Yuehuai felt a mix of emotions. She knew that these princesses had once been treasured by the emperor, but now they had ended up like this.

She couldn't help but think about her own fate, wondering if one day she would end up like that.

Just then, an old woman came over and was shocked when she saw Xu Yuehuai. "Who are you? What are you doing in a place like this?"

Xu Yuehuai quickly bowed, "This servant was just passing by and came to investigate out of curiosity after hearing the crying." The old woman stared at her warily, "This is not a place for you. Leave now."

Xu Yuehua nodded hurriedly, "Yes, yes, this servant will go now." With that, she turned and left.

Xu Yuehuai was particularly suspicious about the identity of that crazy princess, but she didn't pay much attention to it and immediately went to Wu Hanqing's bedroom.

She first peered through the window. She saw that the Seventh Princess was still on Wu Hanqing's bed. Xu Yuehuai's expression changed slightly, and she thought to herself, "How could this be? Has something gone wrong with my plan?"

A sense of panic washed over her, but she tried to remain calm. Seeing the Seventh Princess and Wu Hanqing sleeping together filled her with nausea. Remembering the price she had paid for this plan, her anger intensified.

However, she also knew that the most important thing now was to stay calm and not let her emotions affect the progress of the plan. So, Xu Yuehuai decided to leave first. She took a deep breath and tried her best to calm herself down.

She left the bedchamber, her heart heavy. She knew she had to find a solution as soon as possible, or the plan would fail completely.

She remembered the soup she had laced with medicine and rushed to the kitchen. But when she arrived, she found the bowl of soup was gone. Startled, she immediately questioned the young eunuch present.

A young eunuch told her that he had seen another young eunuch drink the soup from that bowl.

Xu Yuehuai's heart sank, and she immediately rushed to the eunuch's quarters. She found the eunuch unconscious, and a panic gripped her. She quickly gave him the antidote.

After a while, the little eunuch slowly opened his eyes. When he saw Xu Yuehuai, he was so frightened that he sat up immediately.

Xu Yuehuai comforted him and asked, "Did you drink the soup that the imperial kitchen specially prepared for the king?"

The young eunuch nodded and said, "It was the Seventh Princess who made me drink it."

Xu Yuehuai was startled and asked, "Seventh Princess Consort? Why did she make you drink it?"

The young eunuch replied, "She said it was a tonic that was good for the body."

Xu Yuehua felt a surge of anger. She knew that the Seventh Princess Consort must have done this on purpose to ruin her plans.

But she also knew that the most important thing now was to solve the immediate problem.

So she said to the little eunuch, "I see. If it was the Seventh Princess who ordered it, then it's fine. My main concern is that when the King wakes up, he will blame you."

"Thank you so much, Sister Yue!" the little eunuch said gratefully.

Xu Yuehuai immediately waved his hand and left.

After returning to her residence, Xu Yuehuai sat on the edge of the bed, pondering her next plan.

She knew she had to act quickly, or everything would be in vain. Remembering the Seventh Princess's previous actions, she became even more determined in her decision.

The next morning, Xu Yuehuai went to find Wu Hanqing. She noticed that Wu Hanqing's face was somewhat pale, and she was secretly pleased.

Wu Hanqing sat on the throne in the palace, his face grim, his sharp gaze fixed on Xu Yuehuai. The doubts and anger in his heart burned like a raging fire, making it impossible for him to remain calm.

He gripped the jade cup tightly in his hand, his knuckles turning white from the force. "Why did you suddenly leave the palace yesterday? And what did you do to me?"

Wu Hanqing's tone was clearly questioning and dissatisfied.

Xu Yuehuai lowered her head, feigning shyness and fear, and answered in a weak voice, "Your Majesty, I... I didn't do anything to you. Yesterday you suddenly fainted, and I was frightened, so I secretly left the palace. I don't know anything after that."

Wu Hanqing frowned; he didn't entirely believe Xu Yuehuai's words. He remembered that yesterday he had clearly been holding Xu Yuehuai, intending to do something to her, but before he could do anything, he lost consciousness.

When he woke up, Xu Yuehuai was nowhere to be found.

"Did you use any sleeping pills?" Wu Hanqing asked coldly, his eyes flashing with suspicion and vigilance.

Xu Yuehuai was startled, but she remained calm on the surface. She raised her head, looked at Wu Hanqing with innocent eyes, and shook her head: "Your Majesty, I did not use any sleeping potion. I don't know why you fainted, and I really did not do anything to wrong you."

Wu Hanqing remained silent for a moment, looking at Xu Yuehuai's expression, but couldn't find any flaws. The anger in his heart gradually subsided, replaced by a sense of helplessness and exhaustion.

Xu Yuehuai was secretly delighted. She had used a particularly strong sedative on Wu Hanqing, and he had already forgotten what happened yesterday.

Wu Hanqing took a deep breath and waved his hand: "Fine, I believe you. But I hope you remember your place and don't disappoint me again."

Xu Yuehuai breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that her plan had succeeded more than halfway. She bowed her head respectfully: "Your Majesty, I will remember my identity and duty, and will never let you down again."

"Hmm, come over and give me a massage!" Wu Hanqing beckoned to her.

Then, she stepped forward and gently massaged Wu Hanqing's shoulders. Her fingers moved lightly and skillfully on Wu Hanqing's shoulders, applying just the right amount of pressure.

Wu Hanqing closed his eyes, enjoying this rare feeling of comfort. His mood gradually calmed down, and he stopped thinking about yesterday.

Time passed slowly, and the atmosphere in the palace became more relaxed. Xu Yuehuai's technique became more and more skilled, and her eyes grew increasingly confident.
