Not long after the first Ying Ziping left, another Ying Ziping also left. Unfortunately, the second Ying Ziping was found and brought back after only three years. The Ying Ziping that Xu Yuehuai and the others met was the one who had been brought back.
Ying Ziping watched Xu Yuehuai and the others chatting and laughing from outside. He felt like an outsider, unable to join in the conversation. They were from completely different worlds. People without freedom and people with freedom, even under the same sky, might have vastly different experiences and relationships.
He left this place, which was indeed surrounded by the Ying family. Many of the facilities there were designed to test the Ying family's disciples, including the demons they had just seen when they entered. He didn't know what the test was about, but he had heard from the elders that without a good teammate, it would be impossible to survive here.
In the previous letters, Ying Ziping learned about Xu Yuehuai. When he met Xu Yuehuai, he tested Xu Yuehuai's attitude and found that it was exactly the same as described in the letters. He also noticed that there was a certain cohesion in their team, so he set his sights on them. The whole journey together was a test of their team.
He thought he had fooled everyone, but in reality, he was full of loopholes. He acknowledged Xu Yuehuai as a rival and wanted to be her teammate, but fate was playing a joke on him, causing him to unintentionally lose such an opportunity. As for whether he regretted it or not, he couldn't give a definite answer. He thought that if he had another chance, perhaps he would approach Xu Yuehuai with more sincerity and win over this capable friend.
After Xu Yuehuai and the others finished their meal, they called over the owner. The owner was excited; he had been prepared and was waiting for Xu Yuehuai to ask him questions. "Don't worry, I'm very familiar with these procedures. Just ask me anything you want to know, and I will answer everything I know. I've been trapped here for a long time. If any of you have the ability to open this place, it would be a good thing for me."
"Boss, you've been trapped for so long, where did this food come from? It looks pretty fresh." Nangong Yu pointed to the food he had just eaten on the table, his eyes filled with doubt and confusion.
Although there are many things in the south of the city, they are far from enough to be self-sufficient.
The shopkeeper sighed and said, "People from outside regularly send things in, and the humans here go out to buy them. I don't know if you saw any demonic beasts when you came here before. They run their own place in the south of the city, completely isolated from everyone else, and they hate it when humans approach their area. I'm lucky to be here; they have no interest in coming here."
A bitter look appeared in the boss's eyes. All his friends around him had left, leaving him all alone. He was in great pain, but when he thought of his wife and children waiting for him outside, a glimmer of hope for survival rose in his heart.
Upon hearing this, Xu Yuehuai pressed further, "Then do you know where those demons came from?"
"I heard from the customers who eat here that they seemed to have come down from the mountain behind the restaurant, and they did it all in one day. I don't know what their purpose is, and they didn't seem to have any intention of hurting anyone. Whenever someone broke in, they were just thrown out in a bad mood," the owner explained, adding that he also didn't want any innocent people to be killed indiscriminately.
Xu Yuehua nodded in understanding. The others exchanged glances, asked what they wanted to know, and then went upstairs into a room. Xuan Chi spoke first, "I think if we want to know more about this place and the strange things those people did back then, we should ask the fairies who came down the mountain."
Xu Yuehuai remained noncommittal, but now a problem arose. Nangong Yu succinctly stated the truth: "The problem now is that we offended those demons when we first arrived. Going back now and expecting them to give us some information is simply a pipe dream. We'd be lucky if they didn't give us a hard time. Expecting them to provide us with information is really unrealistic."
Nangong Yu was right. Xu Yuehuai pursed her lips. "This matter was entrusted to me. I'm the one who created a rift between them, so naturally I should be the one to resolve it."
Xu Yuehuai took the blame on his own, and everyone looked at him. After a moment, Nangong Yu said, "We are a team. How can we let one person take the blame when a problem occurs? This is not in line with our team's style. Captain, don't you think so?"
The team leader, Shangguan Xi, who was usually inconspicuous, was suddenly called upon. He was taken aback for a moment, then nodded repeatedly to show his approval. Everyone in the room looked at Xu Yuehuai with serious expressions.
Ultimately, the task of gathering information was entrusted to Xu Yuehuai and Nangong Yu.
Xu Yuehuai volunteered to go, while Nangong Yu was able to go with Shi Mu, Shangguan Xi, and Xuan Chi. Nangong Yu's rival was Fu Ziyi.
Fu Ziyi turned and left. Nangong Yu's heart skipped a beat. He had offended this junior brother. He sighed and thought, "Oh well, I've offended him. I can't let Shangguan Xi's good intentions go to waste."
There were seven people in total. Two went to find out what the fairies knew, three went to find other humans to find out what they had gained since they came here, and the remaining two were to figure out the layout of this place in case of emergency.
Xu Yuehuai walked ahead, while Nangong Yu walked awkwardly beside her. After walking for a while, Xu Yuehuai noticed something was wrong and turned to look at him. She saw a shy look on the man's face and frowned, saying, "Are you feeling unwell? If you're not feeling well, you should go back first. I can go by myself."
Nangong Yu snapped out of his daze and looked at Xu Yuehuai in front of him. Suddenly returning to reality from the illusion, he paused for two seconds, then smiled and said, "No, I'm just a little excited because we're about to get down to business. I've never seen so many fairies before!"
Xu Yuehuai looked at him suspiciously, but in the end she could only believe his words, and the two continued walking forward.
Bai Sha had been following Xu Yuehuai the whole time. When he saw that there were only the two of them, his eyes were filled with excitement and joy, and he almost jumped up on the spot.
Xu Yuehuai noticed someone following her as she walked down the street. She telepathically told Nangong Yu about it, and Nangong Yu's eyes widened. Just as she was about to turn around, she said, "Don't look. If you do, you'll be exposed."
Nangong Yu slammed on the brakes, turning his gaze from looking back to looking at Xu Yuehuai.
