Chapter 1022 Discovering the Anomaly

In this fantastical and unknown world, Xu Yuehuai did not feel lonely or helpless. On the contrary, her heart was filled with determination and belief that she would definitely find the answer and unravel the mystery in her heart.

She resolved to serve the Empress Dowager even more diligently in the days to come, while also keeping a close eye on the people and events surrounding Bai Yu. She believed that as long as she didn't give up, she would eventually find the truth.

As night fell, Xu Yuehuai lay on her bed, gazing at the starry sky outside the window, her heart filled with anticipation and longing for the future.

She imagined that the person in the strange clothes was indeed a time traveler, and she imagined the scene of their meeting in this world. She imagined them exploring this world together, searching for their way home.

Those beautiful images floated into her mind, making her smile involuntarily.

I just hope this person isn't a bad guy from the transmigrator organization!

Xu Yuehuai's heart is filled with hope and courage. She knows her life will be full of challenges and unknowns, but she also believes she has enough courage and wisdom to face and overcome everything. In this fantastical and unknown world, Xu Yuehuai will continue to move forward, searching for her own answers and destiny.

"call out--!"

Just as she was lost in thought, a strange sound suddenly came from outside the window. Xu Yuehuai immediately sat up alertly and listened carefully.

The sound seemed to be coming from a distant courtyard, low and mysterious. Driven by her curiosity, she quietly got up and tiptoed towards the courtyard.

The courtyard was pitch black, with only a faint moonlight shining on the ground. Xu Yuehuai walked carefully, afraid of disturbing something.

Suddenly, she saw a figure moving not far ahead. The person was wearing a large black cloak, the brim of the hood obscuring their face, making it impossible to see their features.

Xu Yuehuai's heart tightened. Could this be the time traveler?

She crept closer, trying to get a clear look at the person's face.

However, just as she was about to get close, the person suddenly turned around, revealing a familiar face—it was Bai Yu!

Xu Yuehuai stared wide-eyed in surprise; she never expected Bai Yu to appear here.

Under the moonlight, Bai Yu's figure resembled an elegant cheetah. He smiled slightly, a dangerous glint in his eyes. His voice was gentle yet carried an undeniable authority: "I know your identity is not simple, but you'd better not do anything pointless."

Xu Yuehuai lowered her head, trying to make her voice sound calm: "Your Majesty, this servant does not know what you are talking about." Her words contained deep fear and helplessness, but she tried her best to remain calm and did not want to reveal any flaws in front of this cold-hearted emperor.

"Whoosh!"

However, Bai Yu had no intention of letting her go. He suddenly drew his soft sword from his waist, his movements swift and fierce, like a silver snake, and attacked Xu Yuehuai.

Xu Yuehuai could only quickly draw the dagger he carried with him to meet Bai Yu's attack.

Their weapons clashed in mid-air, producing a crisp metallic clang. Bai Yu's swordsmanship was superb, each move brimming with power and speed, while Xu Yuehuai resisted with agile footwork and unwavering perseverance.

In this battle, Xu Yuehuai's dagger gleamed coldly in the moonlight, each swing revealing her unwavering determination and indomitable fighting spirit. Her eyes were resolute and profound, as if concealing endless secrets and power.

Despite facing the powerful Bai Yu, she never gave up the fight. She looked for opportunities in her attacks, trying to find Bai Yu's weaknesses, but each time she failed.

Bai Yu's soft sword traced silver trails across the night sky, each attack brimming with power and speed. His eyes were cold and profound, as if he saw through everything. He knew Xu Yuehuai's identity was not simple, but he also knew that as long as he controlled her, he could seize the initiative.

The air was thick with tension and danger. Every clash of weapons sent shivers down our spines, and every attack held our breath. This battle was not only a contest of strength, but also a battle of wits and courage.

After a fierce fight, Bai Yu finally managed to subdue Xu Yuehuai.

He reached into his robes, took out a black pill, and shoved it directly into Xu Yuehuai's mouth. He said coldly, "This is a highly poisonous medicine. If you behave yourself, I will give you the antidote every month. Otherwise..." He didn't finish his sentence, but Xu Yuehuai already understood what he meant.

She gritted her teeth, a hint of humiliation and anger flashing in her eyes: "This servant understands." Her words were filled with helplessness and despair; she knew she was trapped in a situation from which she could not escape.

Bai Yu said nothing more. He turned around and disappeared into the cold wind.

Xu Yuehuai watched the direction he left in, a chill running through her heart. She knew her future was filled with endless unknowns and dangers, but she also knew that as long as she didn't give up, there would still be hope!

This battle may be over, but her battle has only just begun...

Xu Yuehuai staggered back to her room, her face pale and her expression carrying a barely perceptible tension.

The cup of wine that Bai Yu had just fed her was now like a fire in her stomach, burning her internal organs as if they were about to melt.

She clutched her abdomen, curled up in pain on the bed, sweat dripping from her forehead and soaking the pillow.

In the stillness of the night, only Xu Yuehuai's heavy breathing and occasional low moans could be heard from her room.

Moonlight streamed through the windowpane, illuminating her pale face and adding to her vulnerability. She gripped the bedsheet tightly, as if it were her only support at that moment.

Time passed slowly, and Xu Yuehuai felt the pain in her body recede like the tide, replaced by weakness and exhaustion. She closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

The next day, as the first rays of sunlight streamed into the room, Xu Yuehuai slowly opened her eyes. She felt that her body had recovered considerably, and the pain had completely disappeared. She gently moved her body, and after confirming that she was alright, she sighed helplessly.

As usual, Xu Yuehuai arrived at the Empress Dowager's palace and began applying a face mask for her. Her technique was skilled and gentle, and the Empress Dowager looked at her smooth and delicate face in the mirror and nodded in satisfaction.

"Xiaoyue, your cooking skills are getting better and better," the Empress Dowager praised.

Xu Yuehuai smiled slightly but remained silent. Her mind wasn't on the matter; she was thinking about what had happened last night. She wasn't sure what kind of medicine Bai Yu had given her, nor did she know if there was a better antidote.

Can the Ghost Doctor help me detoxify?

Just then, Xu Yuehuai suddenly felt dizzy and swayed. She couldn't stand up and collapsed to the ground.
