Chapter 1854 I Don't Believe in Humanity

Xu Yuehuai and the other two had already found out the most basic things. The tree spirit saw them off and, as they left, gave them a worried reminder: "You two must complete this task. If you fail, I will never trust a human again in my life, and I will make sure that all our ancestors will never trust you either. So think it over carefully, the reputation of all humanity rests on the shoulders of the two of you!"

The tree spirit took the matter to a whole new level, standing with his hands on his hips at the door to see them off, a hint of smugness in his eyes, as if to say, "You'd better watch out."

Xu Yuehuai couldn't help but chuckle, a smile that held a somewhat ambiguous meaning. The tree spirit was provoked by this laugh, but thinking that they were about to leave, it advised itself not to hold it against them.

After leaving, the two chose to return directly to the inn. On the way back, Nangong Yu was still thinking about what she had just talked about with the tree spirit. "Senior Sister, what exactly is that person's identity? How could they let everyone know that they were going down the mountain, and still not be discovered? It seems like something that is completely impossible!"

Nangong Yu couldn't figure out what method that person had used. "Could it be that that person erased everyone's memories of him? But just hearing about that method makes it seem somewhat unbelievable."

Nangong Yu denied the proposal she had put forward. Xu Yuehuai remained silent for a long time, connecting all the events in her mind, and finally came to a conclusion: "Perhaps there is no such thing as forgetting people."

Nangong Yu was puzzled. "Could it be that the tree spirit is lying to us? But he doesn't seem like he's lying. Besides, there are so many fairies here, and everyone is saying the same thing. It's impossible that they connected all these answers beforehand, right?"

Nangong Yu felt that their arrival was sudden, and these people should not have known their purpose in advance. This could only mean that there was something else going on, but what that thing was remained unknown for the time being.

"No, what I mean is, perhaps from the very beginning, when that person spread this story, it started from hearing such rhetoric from others." This was the most likely explanation that Xu Yuehuai thought was possible.

As the two walked, they returned to the inn. The person who had been following them was still there; he had been with them all the way, even when they entered the demon realm. This person was not as simple as she had imagined.

Back at the inn, Xu Yuehuai pulled Nangong Yu into a room. "The people who were following us are still behind us. They're probably outside the inn right now."

Nangong Yu was startled. "Why has that person been following us? Judging from her appearance, she doesn't seem to have any intention of harming us. Otherwise, she would have had many opportunities to kill us along the way, but she didn't make a move."

Xu Yuehuai frowned, her eyes filled with seriousness. "You wait here for me. I'll go out and take a look. If any danger arises, immediately contact the others and inform them of the situation here."

Nangong Yu disagreed, "No, Senior Sister, don't risk it alone. I'll go out with you. Maybe the two of us can beat one of them?"

Nangong Yu offered his opinion, but Xu Yuehuai shook his head. "Going out doesn't necessarily mean fighting. I just want to see what she's up to first. Listen to me, stay right here."

Nangong Yu couldn't refuse Xu Yuehuai's demands, and under Xu Yuehuai's pressure, he had no choice but to agree. However, he made it his bottom line that Xu Yuehuai must guarantee his safety and that he would come out immediately if he found Xu Yuehuai in danger. Xu Yuehuai naturally agreed.

As she stood at the entrance of the inn, the owner saw her and came out to ask, "Miss, it's cold here. Why don't you come inside? If you're waiting for someone, you can see who's passing by from this spot."

"Right now, there are only a few of you in the inn. I don't usually talk to anyone. But now that you're here, you can at least say a few words to me now and then." The innkeeper's words were full of concern and joy, showing that he genuinely cared about Xu Yuehuai.

Xu Yuehuai shook her head and smiled politely at the boss. "I'm waiting for someone here. Boss, please close the door later. Things might get a little unsettled, so it'll be safer if you close the door."

The boss, having lived here for so long and seen all sorts of things, understood what Xu Yuehuai meant when he heard her say that. His playful smile vanished, replaced by a serious expression. "I understand, little girl. Don't be stubborn. If anything happens, come back. This house is quite sturdy."

The gate closed, and Xu Yuehuai stood in the middle of the open space. She looked around, trying to determine the direction of the person. Finally, after locking onto a location, she rushed towards it, her silver sword in hand.

Bai Sha hadn't expected to be exposed. She had suspected Xu Yuehuai when he came out, but suspicion remained just suspicion. Now that it had become a reality, she was surprised.

She quickly moved away from her initial position, and her figure became visible. Nangong Yu was watching the situation from the second floor, and when he saw that the person was Bai Sha, his expression froze.

The reason why the Twin Fiends left such a remarkable impression on everyone is mostly due to their strength. Although Bai Sha looks harmless and even loves to laugh, she is also very dangerous.

Because of her, there's a saying that's been circulating: "A girl who smiles a lot isn't necessarily lucky, but a girl who smiles a lot is sure to kill without blinking an eye."

This refers to Bai Sha, who loves to laugh and also loves to kill, perfectly combining his smile with his killing.

Bai Sha stared at Xu Yuehuai with a crazed smile on his face. "You actually discovered me? Why? Can you tell me when I was exposed?"

Xu Yuehuai had already pointed her sword at Bai Sha, but Bai Sha didn't sense any danger at all. Instead, she chatted with Xu Yuehuai normally, asking, "What exactly is your purpose in following me?"

"I have no ulterior motives. I just really like you. I told you before, can you come with me? Don't worry, I will take good care of you and won't mistreat you!" Bai Sha's eyes were filled with excitement, as if she could get Xu Yuehuai in the next second.

Xu Yuehua frowned slightly. "You like me? So you're following me? Don't you think what you're saying is somewhat absurd?"

Bai Sha rested one finger on his chin, pursed his lips, and looked as if he was thinking.
