Chapter Ninety-Six: What is your identity?

As soon as I stepped outside, I saw Qi Guze and Prince Anping walking towards me one after the other.

Xu Yuehuai was delighted and naturally prepared to ask.

But then I thought about it again and suddenly felt something was off.

What kind of status does Qi Guze have that he can come to the Prince's mansion? Judging from the fact that the two of them are walking side by side and Qi Guze looks relaxed, it seems that the two of them are on equal footing.

She didn't bother to overthink it and moved aside.

The two left.

Just as Xu Yuehuai was about to talk to the housekeeper, a hand suddenly landed on her shoulder, startling her and causing her to turn around.

"Brother Qi." She flinched nervously.

"How did Ah Yue get here?"

Xu Yuehuai recounted how she came to the capital, how she ended up at Chun San Niang's shop by chance, and how she was brought here by the tide. Qi Guze listened as if he were listening to a foreign language. After Xu Yuehuai finished her rambling story, Qi Guze couldn't help but chuckle.

"You can go now."

He said.

She is as serene and gentle as a chrysanthemum.

Even his tone was so nonchalant, which made Xu Yuehuai feel suspicious. She pointed at him and said, "What is your relationship with him? You can decide the affairs of the Prince's Mansion in just a few words? That Wei Yixiao is a bad guy. He used Aqi and Chun San Niang's lives to threaten me. Now that I'm leaving, their heads will roll."

"Don't worry, I'm here." Qi Guze said firmly.

Xu Yuehuai strode off, exclaiming loudly, "So I'm really leaving now, are they really not going to cause any trouble?"

"No way."

Xu Yuehuai chuckled, "She said she wanted to eat proper Sichuan cuisine. What a coincidence, I can make it for her."

"You've decided to stay?"

"Yes, let's take a gamble! What if she gets better? Wouldn't that be a blessing from heaven?" Xu Yuehuai had just examined her and roughly determined that the illness was caused by acclimatization issues.

Qi Guze looked at her, "Is it a sure thing?"

"There's a tiny chance of winning, but it's better than nothing. Watch me." Xu Yuehuai was about to catch up with Qi Guze when an elderly man approached from afar.

This person walks with incredible speed and is full of energy.

"Miss Xu."

"Coming!"

Xu Yuehuai went straight to the kitchen, which was packed with people. Steam was rising from the steamer, and things were being fried in the oil. Several men and women were busy with their own tasks. The old man who brought Xu Yuehuai in coughed sternly.

The kitchen fell silent instantly.

The old man pointed at Xu Yuehuai, "Miss Xu was chosen by the Prince from among thousands of people. Now she is in charge of cooking for the young princess, and you are responsible for assisting her."

Everyone nodded in unison.

Xu Yuehua inspected the ingredients and found that everything was available. A woman in her thirties, who was the head chef, said, "Sister, just ask for whatever you need. Even a rhinoceros horn or an elephant's tooth can be easily delivered here."

“No need for that.” Xu Yuehuai looked at some vegetables in front of her. “I’ve got it, I’ll use these.”

The head chef looked at several baskets.

I discovered that it was just some mung bean sprouts, mushrooms, and green vegetables.

"My goodness, is this all the girl is going to make? Why don't you find something rare and delicious to make for the little princess?"

Xu Yuehuai said confidently, "She needs an appetizer; she can only eat the rest after eating an appetizer."

Despite the chef's various suggestions, Xu Yuehuai ignored them completely.

Her actions, however, were quite surprising.

Xu Yuehuai instructed the maid to blanch each vegetable and then haphazardly arrange them in a soup bowl before going to prepare the soup base herself.

Under the watchful eyes of everyone who seemed to say "you're dead," Xu Yuehuai calmly finished making the soup, then cooked a few more vegetables before calling it a day.

The head chef watched in hushed tones, only approaching after Xu Yuehuai finished pouring the garlic, chili powder, and oil, asking, "Is this what you're making for our little princess, Miss?"

"What?" Xu Yuehuai could tell something from everyone's surprised looks. She rubbed her teeth and said, "You're making a fuss over nothing. You're supposed to be from ancient times. This is called Mao Xue Wang."

Xichuan is humid, so people there have always loved eating chili peppers since they were young; it's something they're used to.

"Don't worry, the little princess will definitely enjoy her meal."

Actually, Mao Xue Wang itself is nothing special. The most amazing thing is the taste of the soup. Every family makes it almost the same, but in that "small difference" there is a "major error".

The chef nervously swallowed.

His expression was somewhat exaggerated, and he looked at the messy pot of vegetables with trepidation. "Should I just deliver it over?"

Let's go together.

A large group of people arrived at the young princess's side. After receiving permission, the head chef, with a stiff neck and a hardened heart, delivered the dishes.

The young princess remained unmoved, but the moment she smelled that familiar fragrance, her cravings were awakened. Just as she was about to get up, Xu Yuehuai, thinking he had succeeded, smiled and approached to help her up.

"This is indeed a delicacy from Sichuan. It's a pity you made it so authentic."

"My mother is from Xichuan. I lived in Xichuan for three years to learn Sichuan cuisine." It wasn't just Xu Yuehuai bragging; she really did stay in Xichuan for three years to learn how to cook Sichuan cuisine properly.

Over the past three years, she has been diligently learning and practicing, not only making each dish taste authentic, but also improving and innovating. Now she is clearly an expert.

"This is Mao Xue Wang (a spicy Sichuan dish)."

The cooks in the capital had never seen anything like this.

Amidst the astonished gazes of everyone, the young princess grabbed her chopsticks and began to eat. She ate bite after bite, even finishing half a bowl of rice.

At first, everyone thought the young princess was pretentious and spoiled, with high demands for food. But now, seeing the girl wolfing down her food so heartily, everyone thought they were mistaken.

The chef quickly rubbed his eyes.

Let's look at it again.

Continue rubbing your eyes.

Under the unabashed gazes of everyone, the young princess had finished all the food on her plate. Xu Yuehuai was overjoyed to see this.

The young princess wanted more soup, but Xu Yuehuai quickly leaned closer and said, "Alright, you can't eat anymore. You've been overeating this time, and it's putting too much strain on your body."

The young princess then reluctantly put down her chopsticks.

Her face was flushed, and she was almost ready to get up and go for a walk.

Xu Yuehuai breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing that her mission was accomplished.

Upon learning that his beloved daughter had eaten, Prince Anping rushed over without stopping. When he saw the empty soup bowl in front of him and the leftover food on the table, he stared wide-eyed in disbelief. "Anning, you've finally decided to eat!"

“Count me in on the credit,” Xu Yuehuai pointed to herself. “You all can reunite as a family. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going now.”

Xu Yuehuai turned to leave, but Prince Anping waved his hand dismissively, "Where are you going?"
