Chapter 337 Xu Mingzhi Enters the Palace

He was already starving, and now he couldn't hold back any longer.

Xu Mingzhi rushed forward without a second thought, grabbed the steamed buns and ran, stuffing them into his mouth as he ran.

The steamed bun shop owner was right there watching; could he just let him get away?

The shop owner was stunned; someone actually dared to rob someone openly on the street.

"He's stealing steamed buns! Catch him! Catch him!" the shopkeeper shouted as he rushed out to chase after Xu Mingzhi.

The stall owners nearby rushed out to help chase after him, but Xu Mingzhi choked in his haste.

He stopped, and was immediately surrounded and severely beaten.

Xu Mingzhi returned home dejectedly. Although he was beaten black and blue, at least he managed to eat something.

"Did you get the silver back?" Xu Jingui asked him as soon as he entered the door.

Xu Mingzhi was also a little annoyed and replied irritably, "I've lost it all."

Xu Jingui immediately became furious upon hearing this, "Well, you spendthrift! You dared to go to the casino and lose it all!"

Xu Mingzhi was already having a bad day, losing money and getting angry. Then he got beaten up while eating steamed buns on the street, which made him even angrier.

"I learned that from you. So what if I go to the casino? Today I'm just having bad luck." Xu Mingzhi said this with such confidence that he was practically standing on the table and yelling.

"Well, I think you're up to no good, aren't you?" Xu Jingui was furious when he saw Xu Mingzhi talking back to him.

He grabbed a broom from the side and swung it at Xu Mingzhi, shouting, "Let's see if you remember who your father is!"

Xu Jingui was truly enraged and struck very hard. Xu Mingzhi, seeing his father's anger, was terrified.

"Father, Father, I was wrong, I was wrong," he begged for forgiveness.

"I'm telling you, don't come back to this house if you don't get the money." Xu Jingui grabbed a broom and threw him out, threatening him as well.

Xu Mingzhi had no choice but to raise money. He had lost all his money and had no money left, so he had to ask Cui Rou for more.

He stormed into Tianxiang Tower, intending to go in and demand money from his mother.

"Stop!" The third and fourth brothers rushed over and stopped Xu Mingzhi as soon as they saw him.

"So, you still dare to come?" the third brother asked with a hint of disdain.

Let alone him, no one would bother to pity Xu Mingzhi, that gambling addict who's a parasite who doesn't know how to live a decent life.

"I want to find my mother," Xu Mingzhi shouted loudly.

"I'm telling you, you're not allowed to go in." The fourth brother said fiercely, after all, Xu Mingzhi was no good.

Hearing the commotion outside, Zhao Ping immediately ran out to see what was happening. When he saw that it was Xu Mingzhi, he rushed over to stand up for Xu Yuehuai.

"Alright, you dare to come here again? Today I'll teach you a lesson on behalf of Manager Xu."

Just as he grabbed a stick to beat Xu Mingzhi, Cui Rou ran out of Tianxiang Tower.

"Please, please, have mercy and let him go." Cui Rou cried and stood in front of Xu Mingzhi, pleading for his life.

“He came here to cause trouble again.” After the third brother finished speaking, Zhao Ping snorted coldly.

“He came here asking for a beating, so don’t blame us.” He said, his eyes changing, and he was about to make a move.

"Mother, save me!" Xu Mingzhi could only beg Cui Rou for help when he saw this. Cui Rou made a snap decision and hugged Zhao Ping so that Xu Mingzhi could run away.

"My son, hurry to the palace and find Xu Yuehuai!" Cui Rou shouted loudly, afraid that Xu Mingzhi wouldn't hear her.

"Okay," Xu Mingzhi replied, and then quickly ran away.

Seeing that Xu Mingzhi had left, Cui Rou felt relieved and released Zhao Ping.

Zhao Ping couldn't bring himself to lay a hand on Cui Rou, since she lived in Tianxiang Restaurant and had some connection with Manager Xu, but that didn't stop him from feeling disgusted with her.

Indulging children excessively will only cause harm.

As Xu Mingzhi ran, he thought to himself, "Xu Yuehuai is in the palace; she must be living a life of luxury."

She's so rich and powerful, couldn't she just help them out a little? How could she be so heartless?

Xu Mingzhi grew angrier the more he thought about it. He planned to make a scene with Xu Yuehuai as soon as he got inside. He figured that with so many noble people in the palace around, she would be afraid of him, and then he would have money to spend.

As Xu Mingzhi thought about it, he couldn't help but feel secretly proud; he was truly a genius.

"Halt! Who are you?" The guards at the door saw him swaggering in and, though puzzled, immediately stopped him.

"I am Xu Yuehuai's younger brother, how dare you stop me?" Xu Mingzhi never expected to be stopped, and immediately shouted arrogantly.

"Do you have a token?" the guard asked according to protocol, but Xu Mingzhi thought the guard was afraid of him.

"No." He remained arrogant. "I'm her brother, what kind of token do I need?"

As Xu Mingzhi spoke, he tried to walk inside again. Several guards exchanged glances and then stepped forward to hit him.

"I think you're a fraud. I've never heard of Princess Heyue having a younger brother. The Duchess of Zhenguo only has one daughter left." A guard finished speaking and was about to attack.

Xu Mingzhi, who had intended to argue, helped evade them when he saw they were about to fight.

Just then, Consort Min's maid Pingping passed by. She heard the man say that he was Xu Yuehuai's younger brother, so she thought of taking him back to the Consort to meet him. If she could make use of him, it would be a good thing.

"Brother guard, this was sent by Consort Min," Pingping said with a smile, and then gave them some loose silver.

"You've worked hard, this is all a misunderstanding."

"It's alright, it's alright. Sister, please convey our greetings to Consort Min on behalf of us brothers." The guard was naturally delighted to receive the silver.

"Who are you?" Xu Mingzhi couldn't help but ask when he saw someone speak up for him and save him.

"You'll find out soon enough, come with me."

After Pingping finished speaking, she led the way, and Xu Mingzhi followed her to Consort Min's palace.

After Pingping returned and bowed to the Imperial Concubine, she began to introduce them, "Your Majesty, this is Xu Mingzhi."

"Xu Mingzhi, this is our Imperial Concubine."

From the moment Xu Mingzhi entered, he began looking around, his eyes revealing shock and greed.

Consort Min could tell at a glance that Xu Mingzhi was just a poor, good-for-nothing boy.

She couldn't understand why Pingping had brought Xu Mingzhi back, and she now felt disgusted by him.

"Pingping, why are you bringing back just anyone?" Consort Min scolded Pingping angrily.

“Your Majesty, this is Xu Yuehuai’s younger brother.” Pingping was not annoyed, but began to explain, emphasizing her words when she mentioned her brother.

"Oh?" Consort Min immediately understood Pingping's meaning and then burst out laughing.

She wanted to make good use of Xu Mingzhi to deal with that bitch Xu Yuehuai.
