Chapter 1129 Endless Waiting

"Is this the royal palace of the Dark Moon Kingdom?" Bai Yu asked in a low voice, his eyes revealing a hint of curiosity and wariness.

Xu Yuehuai nodded without speaking. She looked up into the distance and saw a majestic empress sitting on a high throne, surrounded by a large retinue of ministers, exuding an imposing aura.

But when she tried to get closer to Bei Xuan, the soldiers took her to a secluded palace.

The soldier pushed open the door, gesturing for them to enter. Xu Yuehuai and Bai Yu exchanged a glance, took a deep breath, and stepped into the palace.

The palace was simply furnished, yet felt cold and oppressive. The walls were high, the windows tightly shut, letting in no sunlight. Xu Yuehuai and Bai Yu were seated at a wooden table, immediately surrounded by soldiers whose gazes were sharp and fixed on them.

Xu Yuehuai felt uneasy. He stood up, walked to the window, and tried to open it to let in some fresh air. However, the window seemed to be sealed shut by something, and he couldn't open it no matter what he did.

"What's going on?" she asked, frowning.

The soldier coldly replied, "This is the royal palace; how dare you open the windows at will?"

Xu Yuehuai sighed helplessly and returned to his seat. He knew that they had to remain calm and not act rashly.

"Where are the Empress and the Emperor?" Xu Yuehuai asked again.

The soldier replied impatiently, "You can wait here. The Queen and the others are so busy, they don't have time to see you."

Xu Yuehuai and Bai Yu exchanged a glance, both seeing the helplessness and anxiety in each other's eyes. They knew they were like birds trapped in a cage, having lost their freedom.

However, they did not give up hope. They decided to settle down here temporarily and wait for an opportunity to see Bei Xuan and Xia Sen.

In the days that followed, Xu Yuehuai and Bai Yu lived like prisoners in the palace. They were under close surveillance, and their every move was restricted. However, they did not become discouraged; instead, they became even more determined to find Bei Xuan and Xia Sen.

They began to secretly observe the situation in the palace, searching for people they could trust. They discovered that although the soldiers seemed fierce, there were also kind-hearted people among them.

Some soldiers would secretly bring them food and water, and also tell them gossip about the palace.

During the long wait, Xu Yuehuai and Bai Yu gradually learned about the political situation and inner workings of the Mingyue Kingdom.

They discovered that this seemingly powerful nation actually harbored many unknown secrets and conflicts. The infighting and power struggles between various factions cast a shadow over the entire country.

However, they were not deterred by these complicated circumstances; on the contrary, they became even more determined to save the Kingdom of Dongsang.

They knew that only by finding Bei Xuan and Xia Sen could they uncover the truth and find the key to saving Dong Sang Kingdom.

...

The soldier stood in the night, holding some food and medicine in his hands. His face was etched with the marks of time, but his eyes shone with determination and loyalty. He handed the items to Xu Yuehuai and Bai Yu, his voice revealing a hint of concern: "Take these and eat them quickly. Here's some medicine; it should be enough for you."

Xu Yuehuai took the items; her face was etched with exhaustion, but her eyes still shone brightly.

She looked up at the soldiers and asked, "Doesn't the Empress intend to see us yet?" Her voice carried a hint of confusion and worry; she didn't think Bei Xuan was such an ungrateful person.

The soldier shook his head slightly, sighed, and said, "The Queen will definitely come when she has time, so don't ask any more questions." His voice revealed a sense of helplessness and exhaustion, as if he also had his own troubles.

Bai Yu helped Xu Yuehuai back into the house, where the small house appeared exceptionally quiet in the night.

He said softly, "It seems the situation is unstable; we'll have to wait a while longer." His voice was full of understanding and comfort, trying to calm Xu Yuehuai's worries.

Xu Yuehua nodded and sat down on a simple bed in the room. Looking down at the food and medicine in her hands, a warm feeling welled up inside her. She knew how important these items were to them right now, and she understood the soldiers' good intentions.

As the night deepened, Xu Yuehuai still felt some unease. She couldn't help but recall the scene of seeing Bei Xuan sitting on the high platform that day. At that time, Bei Xuan seemed safe and sound, but the current situation made her unable to feel completely at ease.

She couldn't help but worry about Bei Xuan and Xia Sen's safety, hoping they would be safe and sound.

Xu Yuehuai's brows were furrowed, and her eyes revealed a deep worry. She knew that she couldn't panic right now; she had to remain calm and composed.

She took a deep breath, tried to calm herself down, and then slowly began to eat the food in her hand.

Bai Yu stood aside, silently observing Xu Yuehuai.

He could sense her worry and unease, but he knew that all he could do now was wait. He walked to the window, looked up at the stars in the night sky, and prayed that everything would go smoothly.

The atmosphere inside the cabin was somewhat heavy, but neither Xu Yuehuai nor Bai Yu gave up hope.

They believed that Bei Xuan and Xia Sen would resolve the current situation as soon as possible, allowing them to regain their freedom and peace.

During this long night, they leaned on each other, waiting together for the dawn to break.

...

Bai Yu gently rubbed his shoulder. His injuries had indeed healed, leaving only faint scars as reminders of his past battles. He stood up, his gaze fixed resolutely on the window, towards the depths of the royal palace, a place filled with the unknown and danger.

"It seems I can go and investigate the situation in this palace."

Xu Yuehuai looked at him, a hint of worry flashing in her eyes. She quickly stepped forward, tugged at Bai Yu's sleeve, and said urgently, "There are so many soldiers guarding outside, you shouldn't risk going." Her fingers gently caressed the fabric, as if trying to convey her worry to him through this small gesture.

Bai Yu turned around and looked into Xu Yuehuai's concerned eyes, a warm feeling welling up in his heart. He moved slightly closer to her, a playful smile playing on his lips: "Yuehuai, are you concerned about me?" His voice was deep and magnetic, drawing people in involuntarily.

Xu Yuehuai felt a little uncomfortable at his closeness. She took a step back, a blush rising on her face. She tried to keep her voice calm: "We're in the same boat now. If something happens to you, I'll be in danger too." As she spoke, she didn't dare to look Bai Yu in the eye.

Bai Yu looked at her shy yet stubborn expression and couldn't help but find it amusing. He smiled faintly and reached out to ruffle her hair: "Okay, I'll listen to you. I won't go to the palace; I'll stay here with you." His voice was gentle and melodious, seemingly able to soothe all the unease in her heart.
