"Master, I think I see Miss Qianqian." Lu Li's voice was tinged with urgency.
Xu Yuehuai suddenly raised her head, a mixture of surprise and worry flashing in her eyes. "Where is it?"
“A mortuary,” Lu Li replied briefly.
Xu Yuehuai immediately stood up, her movements swift yet composed. She followed closely behind Lu Li, and the two hurried to the mortuary together. In the darkness, the outline of the mortuary was faintly visible, carrying a somewhat eerie air.
Upon entering the mortuary, Xu Yuehuai's gaze immediately fell upon a figure. It was Jiang Qianqian, wearing a white headscarf, kneeling on the ground, her shoulders trembling, clearly weeping.
"Qianqian!" Xu Yuehuai called softly, her voice filled with tenderness and worry.
Jiang Qianqian raised her head, her eyes brimming with tears, and looked at Xu Yuehuai. "Mother!" she cried, throwing herself into Xu Yuehuai's arms and bursting into tears.
Xu Yuehua hugged her daughter tightly, her heart filled with mixed emotions. "Don't cry, Qianqian, tell your mother what happened?"
Jiang Qianqian sobbed uncontrollably, “Yuan Hao… he’s dead…” She pointed to the urn in front of her, heartbroken.
Xu Yuehuai looked at the urn containing ashes, a pang of pain shooting through her heart. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. "Mother will avenge him. Tell Mother, who killed him?"
Jiang Qianqian shook her head firmly. "I will take revenge myself, Mother. It is my fault for being unfilial; I will not be able to care for you in your old age and see you off in your final days." With that, she broke free from Xu Yuehuai's embrace and knelt on the ground to kowtow to Xu Yuehuai.
Xu Yuehuai stared at her daughter in shock. She noticed that Jiang Qianqian looked much older, but her eyes were incredibly resolute. A mix of emotions welled up inside her. She helped her daughter up, saying, "Qianqian, don't do anything foolish. Come back with me first, and we'll take revenge together."
But Jiang Qianqian pushed Xu Yuehuai away. "Mother, please find someone to take care of the child for me. Don't worry, I won't do anything foolish." After saying that, she flew up and disappeared into the night sky.
Xu Yuehuai watched her daughter's departing figure in shock. She hadn't expected Jiang Qianqian to know martial arts. However, what frustrated her even more was that her own martial arts had been sealed, making it impossible for her to chase after her daughter.
She turned to look at Lu Li, "Go and protect her quickly."
Lu Li nodded. "Then Your Highness, you should hurry back to the clinic. Leave this to me." With that, he flew off after her.
Looking at the empty mortuary, Xu Yuehuai was filled with worry and helplessness. She took a deep breath, turned around, and left this place filled with sorrow.
When she returned to the clinic, Qi Guze was already waiting there. Seeing Xu Yuehuai return alone, he frowned. "Why didn't you bring Jiang Qianqian back?"
Xu Yuehuai shook her head. "She doesn't want to come back with me." Then, she told Qi Guze in detail what had just happened.
After listening, Qi Guze remained silent for a moment, then hugged Xu Yuehuai. "Don't worry, she'll come back after things are resolved. I'll arrange for someone to help her."
The two embraced under the lights of the clinic, their heartbeats echoing in the quiet night.
...
Xu Yuehuai sat upright on a wooden chair in the clinic, her fingers gently resting on the patient's wrist pulse, her expression focused. The air in the clinic was filled with a faint scent of herbs, and sunlight streamed through the half-open window, dappling her serene face.
Suddenly, the clinic door was violently pushed open, and an angry middle-aged man barged in, shattering the tranquility.
"Xu Yuehuai, what kind of medicine did you prescribe for me? I can't sleep at all since I got back. There must be something wrong with your medicine!" the man shouted, drawing stares from those around him.
Xu Yuehuai frowned slightly. She put down her pen, looked up at the person who had come, and said in a calm tone, "The medicine I prescribed is all for calming the nerves and replenishing qi, so it's impossible for it to cause insomnia. Can you take it on time, and have you not consumed alcohol or taken any other medications in the meantime?"
The man glared at her and said angrily, "How could I be wrong! It was your medicine that kept me up all night, you have to take responsibility!"
At this moment, Qi Guze arrived upon hearing the commotion, followed by several burly henchmen. He glanced around the scene and said in a deep voice, "This is a clinic, not a bustling marketplace. If you cause any more trouble, don't blame me for being impolite."
The man seemed intimidated by Qi Guze's imposing manner, but still turned his head away defiantly, muttering under his breath.
"You're really bullying us! I wish I hadn't come to you for treatment!"
Just then, several officials walked in. The leader looked around and finally fixed his gaze on Xu Yuehuai: "Are you the doctor here? Come with us. Someone reported you for being unskilled and disregarding human life."
Qi Guze stepped in front of Xu Yuehuai, blocking the officer's view, and said coldly, "Who reported this? What evidence do you have?"
The officers remained unmoved and said coldly, "We are just following orders. Please cooperate, young lady."
Xu Yuehuai gently tugged at Qi Guze's sleeve, signaling him not to act impulsively. She took a deep breath and stood up: "I'll go with you, but I believe the innocent will clear themselves."
With that, she strode towards the door, the officials following closely behind. A hint of worry flashed in Qi Guze's eyes, but he could only watch helplessly as she left.
After leaving the clinic, Xu Yuehuai was blindfolded and led around for an unknown amount of time before finally stopping. The blindfold was removed, and she found herself in a magnificent, golden palace.
“This isn’t a government office. And you’re not government officials either,” Xu Yuehuai blurted out.
The officials didn't answer, but stood silently to the side. Xu Yuehuai's heart sank as she pondered what had happened.
She was led deep into the palace, eventually arriving at a lavishly decorated bedroom.
An elderly woman with white hair sat upright on a soft couch, her face full of wrinkles and her eyes lifeless.
"I know you are Xiaoyue, and Baiyu died at your hands." The Empress Dowager's voice was hoarse, exuding an air of authority.
Xu Yuehuai was startled; she hadn't expected the Empress Dowager to know her background. She took a deep breath and said respectfully, "What do you intend to do to me?"
The Empress Dowager slowly took out a slightly worn map from her bosom and handed it to Xu Yuehuai: "This was given to me by Bai Yu before he set out with his troops. Now I'm giving it to you."
Xu Yuehuai took the map, her mind filled with even more doubts.
Why would Bai Yu hand over the map to me?
Did Bai Yu already know that he would die at that time?
Is the map he provided real or fake?
Could Bai Yu have already returned to the world he was in before?
Just then, a person dressed in black and wearing a black mask suddenly appeared, moving swiftly and exuding an imposing aura.
Xu Yuehuai immediately became alert, sensing the dangerous aura emanating from this person.
“We are of the same race, we all came from another time,” the man in black said. “Now that people from other races are appearing frequently, we have to cooperate.”
Xu Yuehuai sneered: "But if you want to destroy the entire Four Kingdoms, you will be in even greater danger."
