Chapter 1921 Birth, Aging, Sickness and Death

Grandpa Pu shakily reached out his hand, wanting to grasp Xu Yuehuai's palm. The moment she noticed, she offered her hand, squatted by the bed, and firmly held Grandpa Pu's hand. "Girl, don't be sad. I wasn't that good to you to begin with, and I didn't do anything wrong. I'm so glad that Chichi made such a loyal and devoted friend like you. If she were alive, she certainly wouldn't want you to blame yourself and be sad because of these things."

Grandpa Pu's words pierced Xu Yuehuai's heart. These were all people Ji Yuanchi cared about. Ji Yuanchi had saved her, yet she couldn't save those Ji Yuanchi cared about. What kind of logic was that? She shook her head, pondering Grandpa Pu's words. She said, "It's not like that, Grandpa. Don't go. You have to live well. If you die, I won't be able to face Achi."

Grandpa Pu was exhaling more than inhaling at this moment, and his whole body began to tremble, but he still held Xu Yuehuai's hand tightly, refusing to let go, as if he could hold onto Ji Yuanchi who had not yet left. "No, she is very reasonable. As her friend, don't you understand her? This place can be your home, but don't turn it into a prison that confines you."

After saying these words, Grandpa Pu breathed his last. In the last second before he died, he looked in the direction of his two grandsons.

The two brothers, Pu Da Ge and Pu Er Ge, had long been mentally prepared for the passing of their grandfather, so they didn't lose control of their emotions at this moment. They just stood there blankly, like robots, unable to move or speak.

After one second, two seconds, three seconds, she stood up from the ground and began to try to lift Grandpa Pu’s back, trying to transfer spiritual energy to him. As long as she had a lot of spiritual energy around her, she did not believe that she could die like this!

Xu Yuehua tried her best, but how could the dead and the living be compared? Old Master Pu had long since passed away, and was just waiting to say his last words, as if he was waiting for his second brother and eldest brother Pu to come in and say these words in front of them, so that they would understand the reason behind it and not blame Xu Yuehua for all of this after he was gone.

Xu Yuehuai's hands trembled. She couldn't believe that someone had passed away like this. Pu Erge grabbed her arm from behind and pulled her up, his eyes filled with tears. "That's enough, little sister. Grandpa has already passed away. Don't bother him anymore."

Xu Yuehuai paused, hiding alone in a corner. She handed over the rest to Brother Pu and Brother Pu's second brother. Old Master Pu had made many friends in the past, so after learning of his passing, everyone came to pay their respects.

Brother Pu and Brother Pu acted quickly. The person died in the morning, and the mourning hall was set up in the afternoon. The three of them knelt in front of the mourning hall dressed in white mourning clothes. White paper in the water kept being scattered outwards, one after another, floating in the air, scattered here and there, and finally drifting away, no one knew where it flew to.

Xu Yuehuai's eyes were lifeless. She had spent the whole night reading medical books but hadn't found any solution. Why was this happening? Xu Yuehuai was completely baffled. She took a deep breath, trying to figure out the intricacies of the situation.

It was just a pill, why would it cause such a reaction? If Old Master Pu died because of fighting with the Jin family head, does that mean anyone who came into contact with the Jin family head might die? Xu Yuehuai felt that her thoughts were somewhat absurd, but there was some truth to them. Her gaze suddenly fell on the two people who were still kneeling beside her.

So, wouldn't Brother Pu and Brother Pu's second brother be in great danger? But as of now, they seem perfectly fine and don't appear to be in any trouble. Xu Yuehuai's heart was itching to speak, but with so many people outside and both of them still in a bad mood, it wasn't appropriate to bring up such a thing. She could only suppress the words she wanted to say.

Inside the space, Yuan Shui kept flipping through the medical books. Although Xu Yuehuai hadn't found a solution, she had only read half of the books in the vast library, leaving the other half unfinished. Even Yuan Shui was eager to know what this thing was. As an ancient artifact, he had never heard of any technique that could cause organ failure and slow death in a short time; it was something that sounded unbelievable enough.

Bai Ze and Yuan Shui were flipping through the books together. It seemed like the first time in a long time that the two of them had truly formed a united front. Book after book was taken down from the shelf and piled on the floor. Gradually, the pile of books on the floor grew quite high, completely burying the two of them.

Xu Yuehuai felt that the atmosphere in the mourning hall was too oppressive. She walked outside to the street, where white lanterns were hung by people whom Grandpa Pu had helped. Everyone had come crying, wiping away tears from their eyes while looking at the huge plaque with reluctance.

Pu Erge noticed Xu Yuehuai leaving. He glanced at her indifferently without stopping her. No one outside was a match for Xu Yuehuai, so there was no need to worry about her encountering any danger. She would surely send him any news. Pu Erge knelt on the ground and closed his eyes again. These past few days he had felt slightly unwell, but he attributed it to the aftereffects of his fight with Young Master Jin.

Little did they know, danger was lurking beneath the surface.

As Xu Yuehuai walked out, people outside carried white flowers, some even weeping in the street. "Old Master Pu! How could you leave like this? I didn't even have a chance to pay you a proper visit! This news came so suddenly. I learned a few days ago that you were seriously injured, but I was worried that the Jin family would harass me, so I didn't dare to come. Now that I've come again, all I get is news of your death. This fills my heart with immense grief!"

These words echoed one after another. Xu Yuehuai didn't know whether these people were sincere or not, but at least at this moment, their tears were probably real. She found a quiet place to sit on the steps and began to chat idly with the two little rascals in the space, "What is the purpose of your lives? Is it to be like Grandpa, where after you die, so many people will come to say goodbye with such reluctance?"

Xu Yuehuai naturally noticed that the two little ones in the space were helping her continue searching for medical books. Neither of them responded to Xu Yuehuai. After turning to the next page, Yuan Shui couldn't help but ask Xu Yuehuai's question, "Birth, aging, sickness and death are the natural course of life. Why do you have to act like this?"
