Xu Yuehuai smiled slightly and shook her head. "No rush. We'll act tonight. We need to rest and recharge now." Her words revealed a sense of composure and calmness, as if everything was under her control.
So the two of them silently waited for night to fall, for the moment to uncover the secret. And at that moment, the palace, too, seemed to fall into a state of silence and tranquility during this waiting period.
In the dead of night, a dark figure silently swept past in a corner of the palace. It was Xu Yuehuai and Qi Guze, heading towards the suspicious location they had discovered during the day, as planned.
The moonlight, like water, spilled onto the silent palace walls, providing a faint glimmer of light for their actions. Xu Yuehuai held Qi Guze's hand tightly, her eyes wise and resolute; no matter the predicament, she would never back down.
They arrived at a suspicious place, a secluded palace rarely visited. Xu Yuehuai gently pushed open the door, and a chilling aura rushed out. She gripped the dagger tightly in her hand and cautiously stepped inside.
The palace was pitch black. With the help of the faint moonlight and her keen hearing, Xu Yuehuai gradually adjusted to her surroundings. She heard a faint breathing sound and became alert.
Suddenly, a figure emerged from the darkness, blocking their path. Xu Yuehuai and Qi Guze immediately went on alert; they knew this person was the clue they had been searching for.
"Who are you? Why are you here?" The figure's voice was deep and hoarse, as if hiding some secret.
Xu Yuehuai smiled slightly. She did not answer the other party's question, but instead asked, "Who are you? Why are you here?" Her tone was calm and decisive, as if she were in control of the whole situation.
"I am the guardian of this place, you should not come here." The figure's tone revealed a sense of vigilance and hostility.
Xu Yuehuai smiled gently. She wasn't afraid of the other person's hostility; on the contrary, it strengthened her resolve. She slowly stepped forward, looking directly into the other person's eyes.
"Guardian? Then can you tell me what secrets are hidden here?" Xu Yuehuai's voice revealed a sense of confidence and decisiveness; she seemed to have already seen through the other party's thoughts.
The guardian held a longsword, his eyes were cold, and his whole being was filled with murderous intent.
"I think you're courting death!" the guardian roared, swinging his sword at the two men. The sword's wind was fierce, as if it could cleave the night sky.
Qi Guze's eyes narrowed, and his figure flashed like a ghost, instantly closing the distance with the guardian. He moved with lightning speed, disarming the opponent in a few moves and subduing him.
Xu Yuehuai stood aside, a hint of admiration flashing in her eyes. She stepped forward and scrutinized the guardian who had been easily subdued by Qi Guze.
“I’ve already checked this place before, and there’s no one guarding it. You’re not from the Transmigrator Organization, are you?” Xu Yuehuai’s tone was calm, but it exuded an undeniable authority.
A flicker of panic crossed the guardian's eyes, but he quickly concealed it. He tried to remain calm, attempting to find a flaw in Xu Yuehuai's words.
"Who exactly are you? Are you a traitor within the organization?" the guardian asked tentatively.
Xu Yuehuai raised an eyebrow and smiled, a sly glint in her eyes: "Who I am is none of your business."
She then turned to Qi Guze and said, "Since he's unwilling to tell us what's inside, let's find it ourselves."
Qi Guze nodded. He quickly stunned the guardian, then hid the unconscious guardian, and then went deep into the palace with Xu Yuehuai.
The two moved cautiously in the darkness, each step careful. They were constantly alert to their surroundings, afraid of alerting the enemy.
The palace has a complex layout with winding corridors, resembling a maze.
Xu Yuehuai and Qi Guze walked along a corridor that seemed to lead deeper into the area, but they did not find anything unusual along the way.
However, they grew increasingly wary, knowing that the calmer the place, the closer the danger was.
Xu Yuehuai paid close attention to her surroundings, noticing a faint fragrance in the air that seemed somewhat familiar. A sudden thought struck her, and she remembered something.
"This is... Come with me!"
Joy shone in Xu Yuehuai's eyes as her fingers lightly traced lines in the air, as if she could touch invisible clues. She took a deep breath, and the unique fragrance seemed to intensify, guiding her and Qi Guze toward their goal.
They groped their way forward in the darkness, Xu Yuehuai's hand tightly gripping Qi Guze's wrist; the trust between them reached its peak at that moment. Her heart pounded in the darkness, a mixture of tension and anticipation creating an indescribable sense of excitement.
Finally, they discovered an altar deep within the palace. Xu Yuehuai's gaze fell upon the statue on the altar, a famous figure from modern times, and she immediately understood who the owner of this place was.
She smiled helplessly and said softly, "It seems that a time traveler has hidden something here."
Qi Guze was also very surprised. He looked at Xu Yuehuai with curiosity and admiration in his eyes.
They circled the altar like two cheetahs eyeing their prey, their eyes sharp, searching for any possible clues. One circle, two circles, three circles—they carefully and patiently examined every corner, not daring to be careless in the slightest.
Suddenly, Xu Yuehuai paused slightly, her gaze falling on one side of the altar, where a stone slab was a slightly different color from the surrounding slabs. She crouched down, gently stroking the slab with her fingers, as if having a silent conversation with it.
Seeing this, Qi Guze also came over. The two looked at each other, a resolute look flashing in their eyes.
"It seems this is the entrance to the secret passage," Xu Yuehuai said in a low but firm voice.
Qi Guze nodded, took out a tinderbox from his pocket, and gently blew on it, the faint flame flickering in the darkness. They carefully pushed aside the stone slab, revealing a dark entrance. The opening exuded a chilling aura, as if warning them of the danger ahead.
However, Xu Yuehuai and Qi Guze did not back down. They exchanged a smile, their eyes gleaming with a sense of adventure. They gripped their weapons tightly, took a deep breath, and then plunged into the secret passage without hesitation.
The secret passage was pitch black, like an endless abyss. The light from the tinderbox flickered in the darkness, illuminating only a short distance ahead.
The surrounding air was damp and cold, as if it were devouring the heat from their bodies.
Xu Yuehuai and Qi Guze huddled together, relying solely on Xu Yuehuai's keen senses and the tinderbox in Qi Guze's hand to orient themselves. They moved with extreme caution, each step carefully chosen, lest they trigger a trap.
