Time flies, and several months passed silently. In this short time, Xiao Rui and his companions seemed to have undergone a complete transformation. They practiced day and night, constantly improving, and the martial arts in the secret manual shone with unprecedented brilliance in their hands.
What's even more gratifying is that they selflessly passed on these precious martial arts knowledge to everyone in the camp, resulting in a qualitative leap in the strength of the entire camp.
On this sunny day, Xu Yuehuai once again appeared on the training field.
She quietly observed the crowd, a look of satisfaction in her eyes.
She came to Xiao Rui's side and said softly, "Xiao Rui, I've seen all your hard work these past few days, and the results are obvious. Now, it's time to take action."
Upon hearing this, a resolute glint flashed in Xiao Rui's eyes. He cupped his hands and said, "I will follow your orders, sir."
"Change your clothes now and come with me." Xu Yuehuai waved to them.
The group quickly changed out of their military uniforms and into ordinary civilian clothes.
Xu Yuehuai led his group away from the military camp and onto the road to the village they had visited before.
Along the way, Xu Yuehuai explained the purpose of the trip in detail. She told everyone that something unusual had happened around the village, with strangers appearing frequently, which might hide an unknown secret.
Upon arriving at the village, the group dispersed as planned and began a thorough search.
Xiao Yi walked at the front, his brows furrowed, carefully observing every detail around him.
"It's eerily quiet here, everyone please be careful."
"What's there to be afraid of? There are so many of us, we're not pushovers."
Xiao Liu seemed much more relaxed, walking casually in the middle of the group and teasing the others from time to time.
Seeing this, Xiao Wu frowned and whispered to Xiao Liu, "Can't you learn your lesson? This mission is no joke. If anything goes wrong, don't expect anyone to save you."
Xiao Liu smiled dismissively and said nonchalantly, "Tch, if they don't want to help, they don't want to. I can manage on my own."
As soon as he finished speaking, a gentle breeze blew by, and a faint rustling sound came from the woods. Everyone immediately became alert and stopped in their tracks.
"What's wrong?" Xu Yuehuai asked in a low voice.
Xiao Yi pointed towards the woods and said in a deep voice, "There seems to be someone there."
Upon hearing this, everyone immediately gripped their weapons tightly and cautiously approached the woods.
As they drew closer, the sounds from the woods became clearer.
Finally, they spotted a figure behind a thicket of bushes.
The man, dressed in black and wearing a bamboo hat, was furtively looking around. Startled by the sudden appearance of the group, he turned and tried to flee.
"Stop!" Xiao Rui shouted, rushing towards the man like lightning.
The next moment, the sounds of chasing and fighting echoed in the night, like a tense and exciting movement.
Finally, after a fierce struggle, everyone worked together to subdue the man in black.
The crowd gathered around and carefully removed the man's straw hat. In the dim light of the torches, a strange face came into view. The man's face was filled with terror and despair, his eyes fixed on the crowd as if he could see the fate that was about to befall him.
"Who exactly are you? Why have you come here?" Xu Yuehuai's voice echoed in the darkness, carrying a hint of malice.
Upon hearing this, the man trembled even more violently. He knelt on the ground, clasped his hands together, and begged for mercy repeatedly: "My lords, spare my life! I am just a spy, employed by a mysterious organization."
"A mysterious organization?" Xu Yuehuai raised an eyebrow and pressed, "Do you know the organization's purpose and the power behind it?"
The man shook his head, his voice trembling, and said, "I...I really don't know. They only told me they were here to monitor the village, and I know nothing else."
Upon hearing this, everyone exchanged bewildered glances. Xiao Rui stepped forward, squatted down, and stared into the man's eyes: "You really don't know anything?"
The man nodded repeatedly, his eyes pleading, "It's true, sir! If I've uttered even a single lie, may I be struck by lightning!"
Xu Yuehuai remained silent for a moment, a resolute glint in her eyes: "It seems that this village is indeed hiding something. We cannot sit idly by and must find out the truth as soon as possible."
"Yes!" the crowd responded in unison, their voices firm and powerful.
"Take him back to the barracks for interrogation," Xu Yuehuai ordered. "At the same time, we must continue the search and investigation around this village."
The group bound the scout, and Xiao Rui sent men to take him back to the military camp. In the darkness, torches flickered, and the figures of the group gradually disappeared into the distance.
Before nightfall, the group gathered again at the previous entrance.
"I'm sorry, sir," Xiao Rui bowed to Xu Yuehuai apologetically, "we didn't find any useful information."
Xu Yuehuai waved his hand, indicating that he didn't need to blame himself too much: "It's okay. Since they've hidden themselves so well, we can't possibly dig them out all at once. But as long as we persevere, we'll find them one day."
"Then wouldn't all our efforts have been in vain?" Xiao Liu couldn't help but interject, his brows furrowed, looking somewhat dissatisfied.
Xu Yuehuai glanced at him and said calmly, "No, your efforts have not been in vain. Every effort and attempt brings us closer to the truth. Moreover, you have proven your strength and courage. As long as we are united, nothing can stop us from moving forward."
As soon as she finished speaking, everyone nodded in agreement. They knew that this was a long and arduous battle, and they had to persevere to the end in order to get what they wanted.
As night deepened, the group sat around the fire and began to discuss their plans.
The firelight illuminated their faces, revealing their resolute and courageous expressions.
“Blindly investigating like this is definitely not a solution,” Xu Yuehuai said. “Perhaps we can get more information from that spy.”
“Yes!” Xiao Rui nodded in agreement. “We can send someone to interrogate him.”
“No,” Xu Yuehuai shook her head, “Since that spy was sent to this village to monitor us, he must have exceptional psychological qualities and adaptability. If we interrogate him directly, we may end up with nothing.”
"Then what should we do?" Xiao Liu asked.
Xu Yuehuai suddenly smiled, a glint of wisdom flashing in her eyes: "We can use his psychological weaknesses to force him to tell the truth."
"Psychological weaknesses?" Upon hearing this, everyone showed expressions of curiosity.
Xu Yuehuai explained, "We can pretend to give up interrogating him first, making him think that we have given up investigating him. Then, we can secretly observe his reactions and actions to find out his psychological weaknesses."
"Great idea!" everyone agreed.
Xu Yuehuai suddenly looked up alertly, her eyes turning cold: "Someone's approaching. Put out the campfire right away."
