Zhou Wan was anxious to see Qi Guze drowning his sorrows in Tianxiang Tower. She couldn't bear to see the two of them part ways, so she went to the Duke of Zhenguo's mansion under the pretext of visiting Cui Rou.
After greeting the guards at the gate, she entered the Duke of Zhenguo's mansion without any trouble. After all, she had come here a few times with Xu Yuehuai before and was quite familiar with her.
Unexpectedly, Cui Rou was depressed for several days because she had lost hearing in her left ear. She didn't even want to see Zhou Wan, and no matter how Zhou Wan tried to persuade her at the door, she refused to open the door.
Having no other choice, Zhou Wan picked out some interesting things that had happened recently and told them to Cui Rou outside the door. Then she went to look for the Duchess of Zhenguo. When she turned the corner, she peeked behind her and found that there was still no movement behind her. Zhou Wan sighed. She couldn't persuade her if she couldn't see anyone.
Cui Rou was like this, and Xu Yuehuai was naturally the same.
Hearing that she had gone to see Cui Rou, the Duchess of Zhenguo asked, "How is she? Is she alright?"
Zhou Wan shook her head and said, "I just told her some interesting stories through the door. I didn't even see her face. I didn't know how to help her. I just picked some interesting stories to tell her. I don't know if she listened to them or not."
“Who says otherwise? You’re such a thoughtful person. If anyone else saw her like this, they would have already turned around and left. Who would want to talk through a door?” The Duchess of Zhenguo shook her head and replied.
Zhou Wan remained silent.
"You should come and talk to her more often in the future. I will definitely not treat you badly. I am also willing to let Jiang Shichen enter the Imperial Academy." When the Duchess of Zhenguo saw that she did not speak, she thought that she was unwilling, so she made a promise.
Upon hearing this, Zhou Wan waved her hands repeatedly, saying that it was all she should do.
"Look at you, child. If you ever need anything in the future, just tell me, and I'll definitely help you," said the Duchess of Zhenguo, seeing her like this. She didn't press the matter further.
This time, however, it was Zhou Wan's turn to hesitate. She stammered for a long time but couldn't come up with a clear answer.
"Just say what's on your mind," said the Duchess of Zhenguo, sounding somewhat anxious.
"Madam, could you take me to the palace to see Xu Yuehuai?" Zhou Wan asked without hesitation.
"What happened?" the Duchess of Zhenguo asked, frowning.
"Actually, it's not a big deal, it's just Qi Guze..." When Zhou Wan saw that the Duchess of Zhenguo asked, she told her the whole story.
"Is that so..." The Duchess of Zhenguo pondered for a moment upon hearing this. She also hoped that Xu Yuehuai could find a good home. She knew Qi Guze and thought he was someone she could entrust her life to. "Alright, I can take you to the palace."
"Thank you, Madam." Zhou Wan smiled broadly upon hearing this.
The two packed their things and headed to the palace. Before leaving, Zhou Wan went to check on Cui Rou, but as before, there was still no sign of her.
Before long, the two arrived at Qiyun Pavilion, but unexpectedly, they did not see Xu Yuehuai, but only Yinhu.
Zhou Wan immediately became anxious and hurriedly turned her gaze to the Duchess of Zhenguo.
"It's alright, she's probably gone to Consort Jia's place again. Just wait patiently, she won't be gone for long," the Duchess of Zhenguo said, patting Zhou Wan's shoulder to comfort her.
Zhou Wan calmed down and then sat down at the table, waiting patiently.
The Duchess of Zhenguo was not idle. She patiently inquired about Xu Yuehuai's recent situation from Yinhu. Zhou Wan also perked up when she heard this and pricked up her ears to listen.
"Madam, who is this?" Yin Hu dared not easily discuss Xu Yuehuai in front of outsiders.
"It's alright, she's one of us," the Duchess of Zhenguo said with a smile.
Yin Hu then put aside his concerns and told his wife a lot about Xu Yuehuai's recent situation, but just as Xu Yuehuai had said before, there was nothing much different.
"Did you encounter any troublesome situations?" The Duchess of Zhenguo was still a little worried.
"No, she's been spending all her time with Consort Jia lately, nothing unusual has happened," Yin Hu replied.
Lady Zhenguo was finally relieved.
As the three were talking, footsteps came from outside. Zhou Wan recognized them immediately and stood up abruptly. Seeing her like this, Yin Hu's previous doubts were completely dispelled. After all, footsteps are not something that can be remembered in a short time.
As soon as Xu Yuehuai entered, he saw Zhou Wan and quickly went up to her, taking her hand and asking, "Why did you come to the palace? You didn't even tell me so I could have come to pick you up."
Zhou Wan, however, looked as if she wanted to say something but hesitated.
Lady Zhenguo understood immediately and said to Yinhu, "Yinhu, come with me to the carriage to get some things. We'll go see Consort Jia later."
Yin Hu naturally understood, bowed to Xu Yuehuai, and then followed the Duchess of Zhenguo out.
For a moment, only Xu Yuehuai and Xu Yuehuai remained in the room.
"What's going on? Why are you being so mysterious?" Xu Yuehuai said with a smile.
Zhou Wan got up and closed the door, then whispered a whole bunch of things about Qi Guze in Xu Yuehuai's ear.
After saying that, Xu Yuehuai's expression was uncertain. She paced back and forth in the room several times before saying to Zhou Wan, "When it comes to matters of the heart, you can't force a relationship. Besides, we're not from the same world."
"How do you know the melon isn't sweet if you don't even try? Putting aside whether it's sweet or not, I just want to see what's wrong with you two twisting the melon off?" Zhou Wan got anxious upon hearing this, and her tone inevitably became a bit louder.
Xu Yuehuai had never seen Zhou Wan like this before, and after a moment of surprise, he laughed and said, "I have never seen you like this before."
"That's because you two are in such a hurry," Zhou Wan said, taking her hand in response.
"Actually, I don't know what to do either. I've just been running away from it these past few days," Xu Yuehuai sighed and admitted.
“Running away is not the way to solve problems; it will only make them pile up. When an avalanche occurs, no snowflake is innocent,” Zhou Wan encouraged her.
"Then what do you suggest we do?" Xu Yuehuai then threw the question back to Zhou Wan.
"The two of them should meet, have a little awkwardness, no, no, talk it out, and clear things up," Zhou Wan suggested after thinking for a moment. She hadn't quite gotten over the awkwardness from before and might have accidentally said something wrong.
"Then, twist it?" Xu Yuehuai chuckled, seizing on Zhou Wan's slip of the tongue.
“Twist it!” Zhou Wan laughed and said decisively.
