As Xu Tian walked, he looked around. He was one of the people who had given Fu Ziyi an unfriendly look earlier. Fu Ziyi, standing at the back of the group, saw this scene but did not try to stop it at all. He watched it coldly. The elders at the back of the group had to keep an eye on whether any wild animals from the mountains would rush out and to prevent any members from falling behind.
When the elder at the rear looked ahead and noticed the discrepancy, he immediately informed Elder Zisang. Elder Zisang, his face filled with anger, said, "I told you not to wander around! You still didn't listen!"
Having come this far, Elder Zisang was unwilling to give up on him and prepared to set off alone to search for Xu Tian's whereabouts. The remaining two elders quickly stopped him, saying, "You can't do that! You can see how thick the miasma is around here. It would be too dangerous for you to go looking for him now. Let's go back to the sect and discuss this matter first."
"If we come back later, he'll be dead. What's the point of discussing how to collect his body?" Elder Zisang was furious and his tone was harsh. The other two elders didn't have time to argue and were making their own decisions.
Although reluctant, she finally said, "Why don't we just let him go?"
Upon hearing this, the person who was Xu Tian's good friend objected, "You can't do this! We went through so much trouble to come here to learn and improve! Why did someone die before even entering the sect? Shouldn't your sect take responsibility for this?"
The man shouted and roared, trying to change the elders' minds. One of the elders glanced at him and said, "I advise you to say less, or I won't hesitate to throw you into this miasma later."
This elder was not someone to be trifled with, and the man's words were extremely arrogant, which completely enraged the elder. Elder Zisang did not express any opinion on this, as he knew his companion's character very well and was just trying to scare the man.
To their surprise, before the elder could throw him out, the man left on his own. This was only discovered after the elders had finished their discussion.
Elder Zisang finally compromised and returned to the valley first. Just as he was about to leave, he looked back and saw that someone was missing. The missing person was the man who had argued with an elder earlier, and also the two who had disliked Fu Ziyi earlier.
"They are simply outrageous! Absolutely outrageous!" Elder Zisang was so angry that he couldn't speak. He himself was always well-mannered, but at this moment he couldn't help but curse.
"My mind is made up. I'm going to find them. You all take the others back to the valley first. We'll talk about the rest when I get back." With that, Elder Zisang turned and left, giving the others no chance to stop him.
The remaining two elders looked at each other, at a loss. They had no choice but to take Xu Yuehuai's people back first. With Elder Zisang gone, no one could control Yu Ze. He continued to grumble, "I say you people are just troublemakers. Even though we've made things so clear, you still have to leave the team on your own."
"Say less," one of the elders said, unable to bear hearing such remarks any longer.
But it had no effect. Yu Ze spoke recklessly, "It would be better if those two died outside. I would be ashamed to be in the same sect as people who can't understand human language."
Yu Ze's condescending tone made the others uncomfortable, but Xu Yuehuai and Pu Erge didn't feel anything.
Fu Ziyi's eyes were fixed on his back with a sinister look, as if he were about to disembowel him at any moment.
Baili Xiuwen remained unchanged, expressionless and silent.
Compared to Ji Yuanchi, he was far too quiet.
Xiaoqian was worried that they were too hurt. They were all the pride of the school, but after coming here, they had to endure insults. She slowed down and walked alongside Xu Yuehuai. "That's just how Senior Brother Yu Ze is. Don't take his words to heart. Don't argue with him. Just pretend nothing happened."
After Xiaoqian finished speaking, she smiled slightly at them, revealing a small dimple on her face when she smiled.
Xu Yuehuai looked at her, "Senior Sister, what's the situation like in this valley?"
Seeing that she genuinely didn't seem to care about the matter, Xiaoqian felt much more relaxed. After spending so many days together, she quite liked this junior sister; she was beautiful and very polite.
"I don't know, but there wasn't this much miasma when we left. Something must have happened in the valley." Xiaoqian didn't shy away from the topic. She believed that they were already part of the same sect, and there was no question of them coming from the lower realm.
From the moment Xu Yuehuai and the others were selected, they were already disciples of Qingtao Valley.
Xiaoqian's eyes held a hint of worry, as if she was thinking about something that was impossible to decipher or understand.
Seeing this, Xu Yuehuai didn't ask any more questions and continued walking forward.
Elder Zisang had initially thought he would find the two people nearby, but after searching around, he couldn't find any trace of them. As the surrounding area was about to be engulfed in a white mist, the glowing orb in his hand dimmed.
The light emitted by this sphere can block the miasma, but its effect is limited and it exists as a consumable.
Yu Ze kept talking as he walked down the street, which annoyed his fellow disciples. Two elders even felt that he talked too much, not that he was cursing, but simply that he was too talkative.
Fu Ziyi had been bothered by the noise the whole way, and finally couldn't stand it anymore. He picked up a stone from the roadside and threw it at Fu Ziyi's back without any mercy.
Yu Ze staggered a step after being hit by the stone, feeling a dull pain in his back. He turned around angrily.
"Who ambushed me?! Step forward! Don't make me come and catch you myself!" Yu Ze gritted his teeth, grimacing as he touched his aching back, estimating that the area was probably bruised all over.
Everyone stopped and stared at him. Fu Ziyi stood aside watching the show when he felt a gaze fall on him, neither too strong nor too weak. He looked back and found that it was Brother Pu.
Fu Ziyi suddenly remembered his unpleasant parting with Pu Erge, which seemed to be because of something similar. Thinking of how Pu Erge had lectured him back then, Fu Ziyi felt a surge of displeasure. He pulled back the leg he was about to take; if he admitted it, wouldn't that mean he was listening to Pu Erge's words?
So Fu Ziyi forced himself to suppress his desire to leave. Baili Xiuwen naturally knew who was behind it and was waiting to watch the show, but he found that Fu Ziyi was motionless, standing there like a statue.
