Chapter 1229 A Tactical Tactic

Faced with this sudden turn of events, Xu Yuehuai remained unusually calm. She observed the surrounding situation, searching for an opportunity to escape.

Just then, a tall figure suddenly appeared in front of her.

The man was dressed in black, wearing a mask that revealed only his cold eyes. He spoke coldly, "Since you're here, don't even think about leaving."

Xu Yuehuai knew something was wrong, but she didn't show any panic. She knew she had to remain calm to find a glimmer of hope.

She looked around and discovered that the garden was riddled with secret passages and mechanisms, clearly an elaborate trap. She took a deep breath to compose herself, then asked, "Who exactly are you? What is your connection to these officials' strange illness?"

The man in black did not answer her question, but simply waved his hand, signaling the guards to take her away.

Xu Yuehuai played along and was led to a dark, dimly lit room.

The room was filled with all sorts of strange torture instruments and poisons, sending chills down one's spine.

She knew in her heart that this was probably the place where those behind the scenes imprisoned and tortured their victims.

Not long after, the man in black reappeared before her. He removed his mask, revealing a handsome yet cold face.

He walked up to Xu Yuehuai and reached out to touch her cheek.

Xu Yuehuai's heart tightened, but she did not back down. Instead, she quickly counterattacked and subdued the man in black.

"What country are you from?"

"I don't think your martial arts style is from our Great Zhou Kingdom."

Suddenly, the man in black pulled out a dagger and plunged it into his own heart. Xu Yuehua cried out in alarm, trying to stop him, but it was too late.

The man in black fell to the ground, and his body began to emit a strange, exotic fragrance.

The strange fragrance quickly filled the entire room, and Xu Yuehuai felt dizzy. She struggled to stand up, but her body grew weaker and weaker.

Just then, hurried footsteps sounded outside the door. Xu Yuehuai panicked and rushed towards the door with all her might, trying to escape.

However, her body was no longer under her control; she collapsed just as she reached the doorway.

Before she lost consciousness, she only heard a scream and a chaotic fight.

When Xu Yuehuai woke up again, she found herself back in the Regent's Palace. She lay on a soft bed, with Tie Xiong's concerned gaze beside her.

"Your Highness, you've finally woken up!" Tie Xiong said excitedly.

Xu Yuehuai rubbed her throbbing head and asked, "How did I get here? Where's Aze?"

Tie Xiong's face darkened, and he said, "The prince... he didn't return all night."

Upon hearing this, Xu Yuehuai's heart tightened. She immediately jumped out of bed and said, "I'm going to find him!"

Tie Xiong quickly stopped her, saying, "Your Highness, please don't worry. His Highness is highly skilled in martial arts; he should be fine. Besides, our most important task now is to find out what's wrong with those officials' strange illness."

Xu Yuehuai took a deep breath, nodded, and said, "You're right. We can't let those people continue to do evil."

So, she and Tiexiong began investigating the strange illness of those officials.

They first arrived at a small alley near the Yuehua Theater, a place where officials often frequented.

The two quietly slipped into the alley and discovered that a huge underground casino was hidden there.

The casino was bustling with noise and brightly lit, where gamblers were gambling wildly.

Xu Yuehuai and Tie Xiong searched the casino for clues. They discovered that many people inside were inhaling that strange smoke!

"It seems that this smoke is the culprit behind the officials' strange illness," Xu Yuehuai said in a deep voice.

Tie Xiong nodded and said, "That's right. We need to find the source of this smoke."

Just then, a familiar figure suddenly appeared in front of them.

That person was Yan Qing, one of the secret guard captains who had been sent out to investigate Lu Mu.

"Your Highness, Tie Xiong!" Yan Qing bowed and said, "I was following Lu Mu's trail all the way from Dong Sang back to Da Zhou. I originally wanted to explain the situation to you, but I just happened to run into him here, so I followed him."

Xu Yuehuai and Tie Xiong exchanged a glance, nodded, and said, "You've come at the right time. Let's investigate together."

The three joined forces to investigate, aiming to unravel the mystery between the underground casino and the official's strange illness. They worked day and night, silently infiltrating the casino's hidden depths to gather evidence and search for clues to the truth.

After several days of in-depth investigation, they finally uncovered the mystery surrounding this massive drug trafficking syndicate. Driven by greed and desire, the officials colluded with the group, using their power to give it preferential treatment, while they themselves became hopelessly addicted to the highs of drugs.

Xu Yuehuai took a deep breath, her trembling voice revealing her anger: "These officials actually disregarded the safety of the people for their own selfish desires!"

Yan Qing clenched his fists, his eyes gleaming with determination: "We must eradicate this cancer and restore a peaceful world for the people!"

Tie Xiong said in a deep voice, "Yes, we can't sit idly by. But we must be careful. This group is very powerful, and the consequences would be unimaginable if we were discovered."

However, the drug cartel was not to be trifled with. They were highly organized and powerful, and upon learning of the investigation, they immediately launched a fierce counterattack.

A large number of assassins swarmed in, attempting to capture Xu Yuehuai, Yan Qing, and Tie Xiong in one fell swoop.

Faced with this sudden danger, Xu Yuehuai and his two companions did not flinch in the slightest. They were well-prepared and knew that this was a life-or-death battle.

Yan Qing and Tie Xiong were the first to charge into the enemy ranks, engaging in fierce combat with the assassins. Their swords flashed like rainbows, their momentum was overwhelming, and every swing of their swords was filled with a determination to kill.

Xu Yuehuai stood to the side, calmly observing the battle. She held a small dagger in her hand, ready to deliver a fatal blow at any moment. Her eyes were firm and sharp, as if they could see through all hypocrisy and lies.

However, the enemy outnumbered them, and Yan Qing and Tie Xiong quickly found themselves in a fierce battle. They were severely wounded, but continued to fight bravely. Each time they fell, they struggled to their feet and continued the fight.

"Your Highness, please leave quickly and don't worry about us!" Yan Qing shouted, his voice hoarse.

Tie Xiong struggled and shouted, "Go! We'll hold these people off, but you absolutely can't get hurt!"

"We'll all go together! I will never abandon you!"

Xu Yuehuai felt as if her heart was being torn apart, but she knew she couldn't give up now. She clenched her fists, tears welling up in her eyes.
