Chapter 113 Danger Arises Again

The Empress Dowager, watching this scene, also wore a gratified smile. She knew Xu Yuehuai's medical skills were superb, but seeing Xu Yuehuai successfully detoxify in front of so many people still made her feel particularly proud and happy.

She looked at Xu Yuehuai with eyes full of affection and expectation. She knew the young doctor's talent and potential, and believed that Xu Yuehuai could bring more glory and brilliance to the royal family and the country.

"Thank you for your generous gift, Your Majesty!"

Xu Yuehuai humbly accepted Bai Yu's reward, knowing it was an acknowledgment of his medical skills. However, she was even more puzzled, feeling that something unusual must have happened during this time, otherwise Bai Yu would have recognized her.

She recalled the past, trying to find answers. They had fought side by side, resisting foreign invasion together, and back then, Bai Yu had trusted and knew her completely. But now, Bai Yu felt nothing but unfamiliarity and doubt towards her.

Xu Yuehuai's eyes shone with determination. She knew that no matter what happened, she would persevere and find the answer!

The hustle and bustle of the celebration had gradually faded away, and a quiet stillness enveloped Xu Yuehuai's residence. She sat alone at her desk, a thick medical tome lying open under the bright lamplight. Her gaze wandered between the lines, but her thoughts seemed to drift far away.

Xu Yuehuai frowned slightly as she pondered a question—how to get close to Bai Yu?

She knew that getting close to Bai Yu was not an easy thing.

Bai Yu has a special identity, and now seems to have a withdrawn and unpredictable personality.

However, Xu Yuehuai had a gut feeling that Bai Yu was inextricably linked to the truth of the whole incident.

She gently closed the book, stood up, and walked to the window. In the night, moonlight spilled like water into the courtyard, and everything seemed so tranquil. Xu Yuehuai took a deep breath; she had already made up her mind.

The next day, Xu Yuehuai went to the Empress Dowager's palace as usual, only to find it empty. Her heart tightened, and she quickly went to the bedside, where she saw the Empress Dowager lying there, unconscious.

Xu Yuehuai immediately stepped forward to check the Empress Dowager's pulse and breathing, finding that her vital signs were weak but relatively stable. She breathed a sigh of relief, but felt more puzzled and worried. She didn't know why the Empress Dowager had suddenly fainted, nor what secrets lay behind it.

She looked up and glanced around. The furnishings in the palace were exactly the same as yesterday, but Xu Yuehuai felt something was amiss. Her gaze fell on the window, which was tightly closed, but the curtains were swaying slightly, as if hinting at something.

Xu Yuehuai walked to the window, gently pulled back the curtains, and saw a dense bamboo forest outside. A thought struck her, and she turned to walk to the door, pushing it open and stepping outside.

She stood at the entrance of her palace, took a deep breath of fresh air, and let her gaze wander through the bamboo grove. Suddenly, she noticed a figure moving deep within the grove. Xu Yuehuai's heart tightened, and she quietly approached the figure.

As she approached, she discovered the figure was a palace maid. The maid had her back to her and was doing something with her head down. Xu Yuehuai's heart stirred, and she quietly moved behind the maid.

She suddenly asked, "What are you doing?"

The palace maid was startled and turned around to see Xu Yuehuai, a hint of panic showing on her face. But she quickly regained her composure and respectfully bowed, saying, "Miss Yue, I am Xiao Cui, a palace maid in the Empress Dowager's palace. I am picking fresh bamboo leaves for the Empress Dowager to make tea."

Xu Yuehua frowned slightly; she didn't believe Xiao Cui's explanation. But instead of immediately exposing her, she smiled and said, "Xiao Cui, you've worked hard. Did you notice anything unusual while you were picking the bamboo leaves?"

Xiao Cui hesitated for a moment after hearing Xu Yuehuai's words. But she shook her head and said, "Miss Yue, I haven't noticed anything unusual. I've been in the Empress Dowager's palace the whole time and haven't left."

Xu Yuehua nodded. She didn't completely believe Xiao Cui's words, but she didn't press further. She knew that more evidence and clues were needed to uncover the truth.

Immediately, she turned to return to the Empress Dowager's palace. Her figure moved swiftly through the long corridor of the palace, her steps light yet carrying an undeniable firmness.

She had already sketched out a new blueprint in her mind, a blueprint for how to save the Empress Dowager and how to uncover the secrets of the palace.

Inside the palace, the Empress Dowager lay quietly on the bed, her face as pale as paper, her breathing so weak it seemed she might disappear at any moment.

Xu Yuehuai stood quietly in front of the bed, her gaze deep and firm, as if trying to see through the fog of illness and find the truth hidden within.

Just then, a series of hurried footsteps broke the tranquility of the palace.

The head palace maid rushed over, her face showing a hint of anxiety and confusion: "Why hasn't the Empress Dowager gotten up yet?" Her gaze swept across the palace and finally landed on Xu Yuehuai.

Xu Yuehuai knew that this head palace maid had always been jealous of her position in the Empress Dowager's heart. If she knew that the Empress Dowager was in a coma, she might take the opportunity to frame her.

A cold smile flashed through Xu Yuehuai's mind. She calmly met the head palace maid's gaze and said indifferently, "Her Majesty the Empress Dowager wants to sleep a little longer!" Although her voice was not loud, it carried an undeniable power.

The head palace maid trembled under her gaze and dared not say anything more.

Xu Yuehuai knew she couldn't stay here any longer. She had to find a way to wake the Empress Dowager as soon as possible, otherwise, once the head palace maid discovered the Empress Dowager's true condition, she would be in even greater trouble.

After the head palace maid left, she began searching the palace for something that could awaken the Empress Dowager, and finally her gaze fell on the incense burner by the window.

She walked over, gently picked up the incense burner, poured out the spices, and replaced them with a refreshing herb. Then, she lit the incense burner, letting the scent of the herb slowly permeate the palace.

However, as time passed, the Empress Dowager still showed no signs of waking up.

What exactly happened?

Why did the Empress Dowager fall into a coma?

Why hasn't he woken up yet?

Xu Yuehuai began to feel anxious. She knew she had to find another solution as soon as possible.

Just then, she suddenly noticed an exquisite bracelet on the Empress Dowager's wrist. The bracelet was inlaid with some crystal-clear gemstones, emitting a faint glow.

Xu Yuehuai's heart skipped a beat. She remembered reading in a popular science book that many gemstones are radioactive, and perhaps this bracelet was the key to the Empress Dowager's coma.

She gently picked up the bracelet and carefully removed it from the Empress Dowager's wrist. Then, using the same method as before, she performed some treatment on the Empress Dowager.
