Xu Yuehuai was taken aback, chuckled twice, and didn't continue speaking. The path up the mountain was exceptionally difficult to traverse, and he had already heard countless complaints from those around him. "This wretched place almost killed me! Once this is all over, I'm definitely going to go and have a good meal! Only then will I feel satisfied!"
"Hey, where are you all from? I'm from the west. Our mutton soup is delicious! If we survive together, I'll treat you to some of our mutton soup! Everyone gets some, it's free!"
"Was the west attacked as well? I'm from the north. As for what we have in the north, we just have more snow and thicker stuff. The most unique thing is definitely our people! After this is over, you all have to come home with me to see my family! Everyone will be so happy to know we have guests."
"You seem to be having a great time chatting. I come from the seaside, where there are plenty of fish, shrimp, and crabs. But I don't know if we'll still be able to eat them after this. If we do, you should definitely try them."
"And me..."
"My family is actually quite well-off..."
As Xu Yuehuai and Yan Zhi were walking down the street, they suddenly overheard some conversations beside them. Unlike the usual complaints, these words were filled with hope. Everyone had high expectations for the future, even though they didn't know if they would survive. But as long as there was a glimmer of hope, no one was willing to give up.
Xu Yuehuai and Yan Zhi exchanged a glance, both seeing a smile in each other's eyes. They chuckled twice, not joining in their conversation, but their mood had improved considerably because of what the other person had said.
Quan Cang stood at the very top, looking down at everyone below with disdain in his eyes. Everyone was nothing more than a black dot in his eyes, insignificant in every way. "The people in this world are truly so boring, everything they do is so disgusting."
Quan Cang held something in his hand, slowly playing with it, and casually watched the people below, one after another, walking up. Their behavior might have some merit in their own eyes, but in Quan Cang's eyes, they were just insignificant humans.
He merely glanced at it indifferently, then turned and left. There was a palace on the snow-capped mountain, extremely luxurious, with furnishings that could only be described as extravagant. Standing beside Quan Cang was a man with a stubble beard, who stood hunched over, looking quite comical as he knelt and groveled beside him.
"My lord, look at this group of people below today! They've all come to pledge their allegiance to you! Aren't you even a little excited? Aren't you even a little moved?" The man's words were extremely harsh, like those of some animal.
Quan Cang, oblivious to the situation, stood with his hands behind his back, a hint of disdain on his face, and said, "They're just a bunch of people whose combined strength isn't even enough to match mine. What use are they?"
"Yes, yes, yes, Master, your strength is naturally the strongest. Who can compare to you? In my opinion, we should completely seal off this snow mountain. That way, those insignificant people won't be able to get in, and they won't disturb your rest time." The man's voice sounded like a rat's, and combined with his appearance, he did resemble a rat-man.
The rat-man's words only garnered a sidelong glance from Quan Cang, and then he paid no further attention. The matter didn't stir any emotion in Quan Cang's heart. "If you have the mind to say these things, you should put your energy into other things. If the snow mountain is closed, what's the point of having fun?"
The rat-man was taken aback, but without thinking twice, he quickly nodded and agreed, "Yes, yes, Master is right."
Quan Cang left the cliff edge, and the rat-man followed him, the two of them one in front and one behind.
This scene was met with nothing but contempt by others. In their eyes, the rat-man was nothing more than a sycophant who only knew how to curry favor with the powerful. "Look at his fawning manner, saying this one minute and that the next, it's unbelievable!"
"How could the master possibly favor someone like that? He's just a few words more and speaks a bit more obsequiously. Does he think he's won the master's favor with those things? I certainly couldn't do that!" The person standing next to him also looked disgusted, pouting with dissatisfaction written all over their face.
To others, these things might seem like they stemmed from a hint of jealousy.
"Come on, just stay here and watch quietly. If you were really allowed to do it, do you really think you could do what he did?" The person next to me said sarcastically, which made me feel a little uncomfortable.
For a moment, neither of them knew who was more enviable.
The rat-man always stayed by Quan Cang's side. He always had a serious face when he was with other people, but when he was with Quan Cang, no matter what Quan Cang said, he would think that Quan Cang was very good.
They never disobeyed Quan Cang's orders or felt that Quan Cang's ideas were a little wrong.
Quan Cang lay on the chaise lounge, one hand supporting her head, her eyes filled with weariness. Seeing this, the rat-man quickly stepped forward to massage her. "Master, is this pressure just right? If you find these things too tiring, why not leave them all to me? I certainly won't let you down!"
"Since you want it so much, what's wrong with giving it to you?" Quan Cang said lazily.
Upon hearing this, the rat-man was instantly overjoyed, and the Alliance Merchant couldn't hide his smile at all. "Thank you, Master. You will surely be blessed by Heaven and live a peaceful and prosperous life."
Quan Cang waved his hand, telling him to leave quickly.
The temperature and climate on this snow mountain, as well as the amount of snow falling each day, are all under Quan Cang's control. If he wanted these people below to die, it would be a matter of minutes, without any effort at all.
However, he didn't do that. In the eyes of the rat-man, Quan Cang had simply been influenced by Xu Yuehuai's words and had become somewhat sentimental. In a life-or-death duel, such a situation was absolutely unacceptable. The rat-man stood in front of the huge barrier, watching the people entering the barrier climb up step by step, their faces filled with anticipation for the future. He smiled maliciously and said to the person controlling the temperature, "Lower the temperature at the foot of this mountain, lower it to the lowest possible level. I want them all to die!"
"Won't that work? The master specifically ordered that the temperature be kept at this level, and that no one should move. If so many people below die, how many more who came to join the master will be lost?"
