The inn was very clean, spotless at first glance, which seemed out of place in this place. They had too many questions they wanted to ask, but Ying Ziping ordered a few dishes first and asked the owner to go to the kitchen to get busy. Before Xu Yuehuai could call them back, the owner left in a hurry, and suddenly only the eight of them were left in the inn.
Nangong Yu looked at Ying Ziping with dissatisfaction, her face showing some doubt and confusion, and even some probing and suspicion, "Are you starving to death? Can't you wait until later to eat? Why do you have to eat at a time like this? Can't you see that everyone has a lot of questions for the boss? You even sent the boss away. You're not a very nice person!"
Ying Ziping didn't make any special expression. He smiled politely at Nangong Yu and said, "Young Master Nangong is joking. I was just worried that everyone must be tired from the journey, so I thought we should eat something first. On the contrary, I didn't expect that there was only the owner in this inn. If I had known, I certainly wouldn't have sent him to the kitchen first. Why don't you trouble Young Master Nangong to call him out? That way we can ask him questions."
Nangong Yu abandoned his usual lazy demeanor, his face showing a hint of anger. Ying Ziping wasn't joking; on the contrary, he was quite serious, which was precisely why he was even angrier. This man kept calling him "Young Master Nangong," and using that title to assign him this kind of work—wasn't that blatant disrespect? Nangong Yu considered himself to have been quite good-tempered with this man all along, except for that moment when he couldn't contain his anger and uttered that one sarcastic remark. Yet, that one sentence had provoked such a thought-provoking response from the man before him.
All eyes turned to the two people before them. An atmosphere of irreconcilable conflict hung between them. Xu Yuehuai neither took sides nor spoke, her gaze unusually calm. She desperately wanted to know what this man before her, Ying Ziping, a member of the ancient Ying family, was up to, or if his presence here was merely a ruse to conceal his true identity.
These were all Xu Yuehuai's guesses, without any substantial evidence. He didn't readily voice his speculations, as doing so would always give others ammunition to attack the logic behind his words. He stood up angrily, pointing a finger at Ying Ziping, "What do you mean by that? Ying Ziping, don't try to play innocent after getting the upper hand!"
Ying Ziping remained calm and composed, showing no sign of anger whatsoever compared to Nangong Yu's outburst. This was infuriating, especially to Nangong Yu, who felt as if he had unleashed a powerful attack only to land a blow on cotton – utterly ridiculous. "I think Young Master Nangong probably has some misunderstandings and prejudices about me. I'm only saying this to ask Young Master Nangong to do something for us. Besides, aren't all of you your fellow disciples here? Surely Young Master Nangong isn't willing?"
These words successfully ignited Nangong Yu's anger. He sneered, looking at Ying Ziping with hostility, and said mockingly, "Ying Ziping, do you think everyone understands what you mean by what you're saying? What are you pretending for, you green tea b*tch!"
Ying Ziping felt a lump in his throat. He had actually thought that Nangong Yu would fight with him, but he never expected her to call him a "green tea b*tch." This was truly something he hadn't anticipated.
Everyone else was taken aback for a moment, but then they realized this was very much in line with Nangong Yu's style. There was nothing wrong with it. Seeing that the farce had gone on long enough, Xu Yuehuai brought it up, "Alright, since this wasn't intentional, there's no need to dwell on it. Let's all chat as usual and get along as usual. Don't let this little thing ruin our relationship, understand?"
At this moment, Nangong Yu turned his head to look at Xu Yuehuai. His eyes were brimming with grievance, but Xu Yuehuai remained silent, even showing some indifference. Nangong Yu didn't understand why his senior sister suddenly stopped loving him or caring about him. "Senior sister! How could you take this guy's side! You've gone too far!"
Nangong Yu left heartbroken. As soon as he stepped out the door, Xu Yuehuai didn't even flinch. Shangguan Xi anxiously stood up from her seat, glanced in the direction Nangong Yu had gone, then looked at Xu Yuehuai, who remained calmly seated, and exclaimed twice, "Senior Sister, he ran away. What do we do now?"
Although Shangguan Xi was worried about Nangong Yu, this place was not safe, and there was no telling what might happen if she rashly chased after him. However, her anxiety overcame her reason, and after she finished speaking, she added to herself, "I'll go find him and call him back. You guys eat first, don't wait for us."
As she spoke, Shangguan Xi stormed out the door, without even turning her head. Seeing this, Ying Ziping looked at the two leaving and said with a sense of novelty, "Aren't you going to do anything about them? They are your teammates, your junior brothers and sisters."
Ying Ziping felt that Xu Yuehuai shouldn't be such a cold person, but at this moment, the emotions she displayed were too cold, making him suspect that she was up to something bad. Xu Yuehuai looked up at his eyes and said, "In this team, I am not the captain. The captain is Shangguan Xi, who is the girl who just chased after us. Since the captain has gone out, I, as a team member, naturally have no need to worry."
Ying Ziping was taken aback by her words. That wasn't what he meant. Shi Mu silently lowered his head. He also felt that Xu Yuehuai wasn't such a cold person, but he trusted her. He believed that she must have her own reasons for doing this, so all he had to do was listen to her. That would be the greatest help he could give Xu Yuehuai.
Xuan Chi, Fu Ziyi, and the others stared at Xu Yuehuai, trying to discern any emotional fluctuation in her calm and unwavering eyes, even if it was just a deliberate hint.
But Xu Yuehuai's performance seemed to have no intention of acting with anyone; she directed and acted in it all by herself.
“Miss Xu, you certainly have a unique way of thinking. I didn’t expect that after so long, you are a little different from what I imagined. But I like you just the way you are.” Ying Ziping didn’t feel that his words were offensive at all. His eyes were openly scrutinizing Xu Yuehuai, and another emotion was about to be revealed in his eyes. The answer to all his questions was right in front of him.
"The food is served! Ladies and gentlemen, all the dishes you ordered are here. Please let me know if you need anything else!"
