Chapter 209 Compassion

Marquis Ningyuan was not angry, but felt that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

He could secretly follow them. Xu Yuehuai and Pei Xuan both knew Qi Guze quite well, and if the two of them went to look for him, the chances of finding him would be much higher. His life or death was currently unknown, and if he didn't die and suddenly reappeared one day, then all the previous efforts would have been in vain.

If they are found, we should frame them for colluding with traitors and kill them to end the matter once and for all.

If they can't find him, then Qi Guze must be dead, and these two people will be of no use to us anyway, so we might as well kill them.

He felt that his plan was flawless, so he went to the East Palace and found Ah Qi, and told him his plan in detail.

Ah Qi frowned as he listened and said calmly, "Does Xu Yuehuai have to die?"

“Your Highness, this is not the time for sentimentality. I know you have a good relationship, but Xu Yuehuai and Qi Guze are deeply involved. All those who ruin the affairs of Mingyue Kingdom must die. Isn’t that what you taught us?” Upon hearing this, Marquis Ningyuan thought that Aqi had taken pity on him and quickly offered some advice.

“That’s true, those who achieve great things don’t concern themselves with trifles, but I still feel uneasy. I’ll handle Xu Yuehuai myself.” Ah Qi stood up and finally made this decision.

"What? You want to personally go and capture Xu Yuehuai?" Marquis Ningyuan asked in surprise, looking at Aqi in front of him.

“Yes, I will go myself,” Ah Qi nodded and said decisively.

“However, if you go, your identity will be exposed.” Marquis Ningyuan still had concerns.

"It's alright, the dead won't reveal secrets." Ah Qi's mind was made up; he wanted to see Xu Yuehuai off on her final journey.

Having said all that, Ah Qi still decided to go on his own. Marquis Ningyuan wisely shut his mouth, knowing that saying anything more would be futile and a waste of breath. Anyway, he had already said what he wanted to say, and if he really messed up the important affairs of the Mingyue Kingdom, he figured he wouldn't be blamed.

Aqi led Ningyuan Marquis's men to the outside of Tianxiang Tower. He stared blankly for a long time, recalling his past experiences here.

Touched by the scene, his eyes welled up with tears, but he quickly composed himself.

“The last time I came here, I was living with you, and we were having a great time,” Ah Qi muttered to himself. “Now I’m here to kill you. How ridiculous.”

"Pass on my orders."

"Your Highness, please speak."

"Everyone stay where you are. I'll go in alone. Wait for my signal before you go in."

"What signal is Your Highness referring to?"

"If I wave in front of Tianxiang Tower, that will be the signal to move. Otherwise, no matter what happens, even if I die inside, no one is allowed to rush in, understand?"

Although they didn't know what Ah Qi was up to, these people were all loyal followers, so they would just listen to whatever Ah Qi said.

After finishing his explanation, Ah Qi emerged from the shadows and walked step by step toward Tianxiang Tower.

The people in the restaurant were all very happy to see that Ah Qi had returned. After all, they had lived together for so long, and there was no estrangement just because Ah Qi had become the crown prince.

Zhou Wan was also very happy and asked a lot about A Qi's recent situation, which A Qi answered one by one.

The two had been chatting happily until Ah Qi asked about Xu Yuehuai's whereabouts.

When Xu Yuehuai left, he repeatedly instructed that if Aqi came looking for him, he must not tell him his whereabouts, no matter how much Aqi begged him. He also told Jiang Shichen that he should not reveal his whereabouts to him, and if Aqi kept asking, he should use the excuse of being busy with his studies to brush him off.

Sure enough, Ah Qi asked about Xu Yuehuai's whereabouts: "Where did Grandma go? Why haven't we seen her?"

"I don't know where she went. I haven't seen her for several days. Maybe she's gone somewhere to find some peace and quiet again," Zhou Wan said, releasing a smokescreen.

Ah Qi, however, clearly did not believe it and shook his head, saying, "Impossible. She went to the palace to see me yesterday or the day before yesterday and said a lot of strange things."

"I don't know, anyway, I haven't seen her in a long time." Zhou Wan remained tight-lipped.

"She probably went straight to find some peace and quiet after leaving me," Ah Qi analyzed.

Zhou Wan remained noncommittal.

"Is Jiang Shichen there? I haven't seen him in a while, and I'd like to see him." Aqi changed the subject and mentioned Jiang Shichen.

“Jiang Shichen isn’t here either. He’s so busy with his studies that he even eats and drinks at the academy,” Zhou Wan said, shaking her head.

"Looks like I've come at the wrong time today, everyone's not here?" Ah Qi said, patting his forehead.

“It is indeed an unfortunate coincidence,” Zhou Wan replied.

"Then I'll be going. When Grandma and Jiang Shichen return, be sure to tell them that I came to see them," Ah Qi said as she left.

After saying that, he walked out without looking back. Meanwhile, in a small room on the second floor, Jiang Shichen and Jiang Qianqian were hiding.

"Why won't Grandma let me see Ah Qi?" Jiang Shichen asked, stamping his foot.

"I don't know either, but she must have her reasons," Jiang Qianqian said, patting his shoulder to comfort him.

"But I miss Aqi, and he must miss me too," Jiang Shichen said with a mournful face.

"Listen to Grandma, and didn't she say we can sneak a peek at Ah Qi here? Look, Ah Qi is coming out," Jiang Qianqian said, glancing out the window.

"How can these be the same?" Jiang Shichen muttered, but still pressed his eyes against the window.

Jiang Shichen felt a pang of sadness watching Aqi's lonely figure. "I must go see him." With that, he turned to run downstairs.

Ah Qi downstairs seemed to sense something, turned around and looked back but saw no one, his eyes filled with disappointment.

Jiang Qianqian hugged him tightly and said, "No, Grandma said that if you go to see him, many, many people will die. Do you want to be a murderer?"

"I don't want to be a murderer. I just want to see him and talk to him," Jiang Shichen said, desperately trying to pry Jiang Qianqian's fingers off him.

“If you go to see him, you’ll be a murderer.” Jiang Qianqian refused to let go; she didn’t want Jiang Shichen to become a murderer.

Upon hearing this, Jiang Shichen was stunned; he had to restrain himself.

Ah Qi returned to the assassin's side dejectedly and said, "I'm tired. Let's call it a day. The operation is temporarily canceled."

Although the assassins were puzzled, none of them asked why.
