Qi Guze knew that if Xu Yuehuai died, he wouldn't know how to go on living. This time, she was truly dead. He had already made one wrong choice; this time, he absolutely couldn't afford to make another.
Hearing his tyrannical words, Xu Yuehuai was at a loss for words and could only accept her fate.
Qi Guze kissed Xu Yuehuai lightly, then pulled away, looking aggrieved. "I thought you were going to leave me alone again."
His voice was choked with sobs, as if tears were about to fall at any moment. Xu Yuehuai didn't know how to comfort him because she couldn't move or speak. She could only use all her strength to finally raise her hand and touch his back to comfort him.
Qi Guze didn't say anything more, and the two hugged each other in silence for a while.
Starting the next day, Qi Guze helped Xu Yuehuai with rehabilitation training, took her out for walks, and showed her flowers, grass, and the world. For a while, Xu Yuehuai felt that this kind of life was pretty good.
After a week, Xu Yuehuai was able to stand up on her own. Her injuries had mostly healed, but her subconscious mind was sending her a dangerous signal, which she had no choice but to follow.
But Xu Yuehuai still couldn't speak. Qi Guze was very puzzled and a little anxious. He was worried that if she couldn't speak, then it would be his responsibility, and he would have failed to take good care of Xu Yuehuai.
When the two were lying in bed late at night, Qi Guze tossed and turned, unable to sleep. He carefully got out of bed, worried about disturbing Xu Yuehuai.
Although Xu Yuehuai could not speak, her hearing had improved considerably, so she still heard his movements. She remained silent, secretly watching Qi Guze's back.
Qi Guze sat on a bench outside the house, his eyes filled with melancholy and sadness, which was heartbreaking to see.
Xu Yuehuai touched her throat and tried to make a sound, but to no avail. She tiptoed out of bed, walked to the desk next to her, used the last bit of ink to draw a smiley face, took the paper, and walked to Qi Guze's side.
She hugged Qi Guze from behind, placed the paper in front of him, and smiled.
Qi Guze looked at the ugly smiling face on the screen and couldn't help but laugh. Seeing this, Xu Yuehuai pulled him back to the desk and wrote down the words "Don't worry, it will make you wrinkle."
Qi Guze patted Xu Yuehuai's head and nodded in agreement.
...
Xu Yuehuai reappeared in everyone's sight a month later. She could speak again, and her voice had returned to normal, although it was not as agile as before. But as time goes by, it will eventually return to normal. When she appeared on the street holding Qi Guze's hand, many people looked in their direction. Xu Yuehuai was puzzled.
She then looked at Qi Guze and asked, "Is there something on my face?"
Qi Guze shook his head, looked left and right, and said in a nonchalant tone, "Maybe there's a kiss from me?"
Xu Yuehuai punched him after hearing this, her eyes filled with reproach.
Qi Guze, however, did not feel embarrassed at all, and had a slight smile on his face.
As they walked, people kept glancing at Xu Yuehuai and whispering among themselves. After walking for some time, a bold young girl approached. Xu Yuehuai looked at the shy girl in front of her and had a guess in her mind. She took a step back, leaving room for the girl and Qi Guze.
Xu Yuehuai was not surprised that Qi Guze was handsome and that young girls would secretly admire him.
For some reason, Qi Guze wasn't angry when she gave up her seat this time. Instead, he looked at Xu Yuehuai with a cryptic smile.
Before Xu Yuehuai could understand what was going on, the girl walked straight towards her, her face flushed with shyness, clutching something in her hand. She timidly asked, "Are you Miss Xu? Miss Xu Yuehuai?"
Xu Yuehua frowned slightly, but nodded out of respect for the young lady. Seeing this, the young lady breathed a sigh of relief and handed the things in her hands to Xu Yuehua.
Xu Yuehuai subconsciously reached out her hand, but before she could even see what it was, the little girl had already run away shyly. Xu Yuehuai stood there, staring at the handkerchief in her hand, momentarily stunned.
"This is for you."
The girl said this as she left, and then left in a hurry. Xu Yuehuai was holding the item, wanting to find the girl and return it, but after looking around, she couldn't find the girl anywhere. She had no choice but to keep the item in her hand for the time being.
When Xu Yuehuai turned to look at Qi Guze again, she noticed a smile on his face, a smile even more pronounced than before. Xu Yuehuai felt that he was probably mocking her, and this thought made her unhappy. "How did you know that girl came to see me?"
Seeing Qi Guze's calm and collected demeanor, Xu Yuehuai was certain that he knew something.
Xu Yuehuai moved closer to Qi Guze, tilting her head to look at his face, trying to find a flaw in his expression.
But the man was very good at hiding his emotions, his face remaining expressionless. Just a second before Xu Yuehuai was about to explode in anger, he said sheepishly, "Girls who usually come to see me don't act like this. Besides, I inquired about the situation down the mountain before coming down, so..."
"So you knew this would happen? But why?" Xu Yuehuai was still puzzled.
Qi Guze didn't quite understand at first, but after thinking about what Xu Yuehuai had done, he quickly came to an answer: "They probably heard about your battle against the Demon Lord, and they are all your little fangirls."
Xu Yuehuai wasn't an idiot. After Qi Guze said those two words, she understood everything. Her hands, hanging by her sides, were clenched, and she gritted her teeth, as if she had an irreconcilable hatred for Zisangyi.
As the two were walking along the road, people kept looking in their direction. Xu Yuehuai couldn't stand it anymore, so she grabbed Qi Guze and hurriedly left. There were still quite a few people who wanted to come up and give her things.
Seeing that they had all left, she felt too embarrassed to follow them. The girl who successfully delivered the gift went back and bragged about it to her friends, praising Xu Yuehuai to the skies and telling them how brave she was.
...
"Our senior sister hasn't returned yet, and the affairs of the sect can't just sit idle like this. Why don't we let Ji Yaocen take over again?" Nangong Yu suggested at the sect meeting.
No matter what, he is not qualified to take over the right to manage the sect. Although he is the senior disciple and his position is similar to that of Ji Yaocen, he is after Ji Yaocen in terms of seniority.
If we disregard gender, he should be considered the third senior brother.
