Alfonso's children, George's children
“Tsk.”
Seeing the Worm Queen being carried back to the Pompeii in the arms of the Captain of the Guards, Alfonso knew that the drama he had been looking forward to today had ended and had not achieved the effect he had expected.
He had to leave quickly. The wormhole hadn't completely closed yet. While there wasn't a chance any Zerg worms could withstand the compression and follow him through the wormhole, there was always a chance of failure. His carelessness had twice led him to such a hopeless situation, and he wouldn't underestimate the enemy a third time.
Alfonso turned back to confirm Fico's condition again, and then drove the starship to jump. When he saw the figure standing by the pool where Fico was hanging, his heart skipped a beat.
"George...?"
Alfonso asked uncertainly, but the figure never turned back and just stood there blankly, looking at Fico.
Alfonso adjusted the instantaneous heat weapon in his hand, and walked carefully step by step to the figure, and confirmed that it was indeed George.
But he didn't completely let down his guard. He hid his hot weapon in his sleeve, his hand on the trigger. He carefully sensed for a while, and found no signs of George's pheromones going out of control, so he continued to ask, "Why are you here?"
He quickly realized his question was a complete waste. As his biological son, it was only natural for George to know the coordinates of the private planets that belonged to him. He had only assumed that George would be imprisoned until death in the Saint Hobel Palace. He hadn't expected the Worm Mother to not imprison him, but to allow him to escape the Five Star Chain and warp here.
"...You didn't bring any other bugs with you, did you?"
Alfonso became alert. He activated the scanner on the center console to scan the interior and exterior of the starship for any uninvited guests. After confirming that the only people within a fifty-kilometer radius were George's small maneuvering craft and George himself, he felt slightly relieved. But only slightly, because George was clearly not in a normal state.
He stood like a stone beside Fike's honey pool, staring at Fike intently.
Alfonso was in such a hurry to escape that he didn't have much time to pay attention to George, but the words "my child" from the Primordial Worm Mother softened his heart for a moment. George had always been a very obedient child, rarely disobeying him. Although his talent was mediocre, he worked very hard to get more praise from his father. Thinking of this, Alfonso patiently walked over to George and explained:
"I know it might be hard for you to accept Fike's current appearance. But I can tell you that this is what the Primordial Worm Queen is like."
"You've probably seen the images of the original Zerg Mother in historical records, right? Even the giant golden Zerg figure used by the human Zerg Mother was modeled after the original Zerg Mother."
"Our greatest mother, the one who pioneered the history of our intelligent Zerg race, looked like this. She had a huge belly and spent her entire life giving birth to offspring for the Zerg race."
"Other Zergs don't know this secret. As the heir of the Rune family, you should have heard me tell you a long time ago, right? All intelligent Zergs were born from the original Zerg mother."
"Feke is my beloved granddaughter. I couldn't bear to see her reproducing like an egg-laying machine every day, so I made Feke only produce honey. With the honey she produces, I transformed the Zerg into Feke's most loyal followers. Feke doesn't have to endure the pain of childbirth, and she can still have her own people."
"Feke will be the mother of creation in the new era. Don't be fooled by her current appearance, which may seem a bit scary. But remember, our Zerg aesthetics have been shaped by human civilization. This is simply a return to the truest Zerg form."
"Okay, time is running out, I can't say much more. You've arrived just in time. This way, I'll have no more constraints on that human insect queen. We're about to jump, so please keep an eye on Fike for me, to prevent the spatial fluctuations during the jump from causing her to howl in discomfort and attract alien species. They won't harm Fike, but if these brainless creatures damage my starship, it will be too troublesome to repair..."
These words had exhausted all of Alfonso's patience with Jorge. No matter how sad his son was about Fico's current situation or how dazed he was, he had to quickly activate the starship's jump sequence.
Just as Alfonso turned to fiddle with the center console, he felt a sudden pain in his back.
Alfonso turned his head in disbelief as a long, assassin bug mouthpart pierced his body from behind. George had somehow transformed into an insectoid, an assassin bug over eight meters long.
"What are you doing?" Alfonso couldn't even rebuke him before George's venom had already been injected into his system. The venom of assassin bugs has a paralyzing effect; while there's a brief moment of pain when the mouthparts penetrate, the injection itself is practically painless. Alfonso watched his belly swell and finally felt fear.
"George! George! What are you doing? Wait!" Alfonso mobilized all his resistance to the toxins in his body, trying to resist George's venom from corroding his internal organs. But he was, after all, an old assassin bug who had lived for many years. His cells, his resilience, and his toxin resistance were far inferior to those of the young and strong assassin bug before him. "George! George! You can't do this! I'm not harming Fiko, don't you understand? I'm helping her to the pedestal that rightfully belongs to her!"
George turned a deaf ear and continued to inject poison into Alfonso until he was completely limp and his abdomen swelled like a ball.
Through the connected mouthparts and pheromones, George's thoughts were clearly conveyed to Alfonso.
"Father."
"Look at yourself now."
"It also looks like the original insect mother."
George Rooney knew that he had never been loved by his father.
Perhaps his father and mother had forced themselves to pair up, resulting in their offspring—him—being weak and sickly from childhood. His mother had used numerous high-quality nutrients to nourish him, eventually raising him to a strong body, but his father was dissatisfied with his intelligence and courage.
After his daughter, Fike, was born, he finally realized that a father could be so loving and patient. Fike was very intelligent, and her father had devoted so much effort and care to nurturing her. George couldn't help but feel secretly happy. At least, he had left behind the bloodline that his father valued so much in the Rune family.
He believed that his father loved Fike so much that he would not harm her, so he accepted his father's words and even forced his wife to accept them. He was separated from his beloved wife and daughter for several years, but his father only sent him away with a few simple words.
He even escaped without giving him any explanation.
Whatever he said would become a hindrance to him.
lie.
George stood in front of the honey pool and finally accepted the fact.
His father, Alfonso Rooney, doesn't care about him at all.
He and his children were merely stepping stones for his father to achieve his goals. Since he had failed to become the worm mother's husband, his father had simply transformed his daughter into a worm mother. Whether he wanted to be the worm mother, or whether Fei Ke wanted to be a worm mother, was not a consideration for his father.
He doesn't want to listen to his father anymore.
His father seemed to be begging him not to do anything.
Don't do anything...
Never mind.
The delicious taste is right at your fingertips.
Now, he's going to eat.
George sucked hard, like a hungry ghost who hadn't eaten in years. Muscles, organs, bones, and blood were dissolved by digestive juices into a state most palatable to him. Only then did he realize that this was how primitive Zerg ate.
It’s really...delicious...that insects are addicted to.
Alfonso was able to beg at first, then he cursed, and then his voice gradually became smaller. In the end, all that could be heard was the rustling sound of liquid flowing through the mouthparts.
After George sucked Alfonso down until only a thin skin was left, he finally raised his head.
At this moment, his eyes were bloodshot, and dense spines had grown at the joints of his shell.
What am I going to do?
Oh, right. I want to take Fike with me.
The giant assassin bug took one step at a time and turned around, looking at Fike, who was hanging in the air, unconscious and defenseless.
Her heavy, plump lower body was still oozing sticky, red honey.
Fike. My child. Fike.
George's increasingly dull mind could no longer hold any more thoughts. He wanted to let Fike down. However, the rope holding Fike down was made of superalloy, extremely hard. George bit it for a long time, but only a few surface scratches remained.
You have to attack from... you have to attack from the weakest point.
George explored downwards in a daze, and finally found a weak link that was easier to chew, and started to bite.
But his mind was so confused by Chu Mi that he could no longer tell that he was actually biting Fike's hand.
Fike screamed in pain, struggling by shaking her lower body. Wave after wave of bright red virgin honey was swung from under her body onto George, Alfonso's body, and the operating console inside the starship.
With a heavy, dull thud, Fei Ke's hand was bitten off. She finally broke free from the shackles that had held her captive for years and landed heavily in the Chu Mi pool. Chu Mi was thrown high into the air and then fell back down, like a bloody rain.
The strong, sweet smell of blood, Fico's wails, and Alfonso's chaotic mental world made it even more difficult for George to think. His carapace was itchy at the joints, and his body seemed to be expanding and stretching.
Fike. My child. Fike.
I'm taking Fike away.
George dipped his upper body into the pool of virgin honey, looking for Fike. But why was Fike so heavy?
There was a huge, cumbersome bag under Fike's body, pulling her down.
Fike, I will save you... I will help you.
Tiger Warlock, who arrived in the second half of the battle and still had some strength left, tracked back and led a group of well-equipped and physically strong military insects through the wormhole, intending to destroy the alien nest, but was surprised to find that there were no aliens on the other side of the wormhole.
A lonely, desolate planet, without even an atmosphere. The insects could clearly see a starship parked in the middle of a crater, with a huge hole in its roof, seemingly destroyed from the inside.
Tiger commanded the army bugs to scan the starship three times and confirmed that there was no sign of life inside before landing on the barren planet and organizing the army bugs to explore.
The army bugs put on their breathing masks and landed carefully through the breach in groups of three, supporting each other.
Upon entering the starship, they were startled by the bright red virgin honey all over the sky and ground. Through their breathing masks, they could almost smell the bloody smell. Even more outrageous, there was actually a virgin honey pool inside this starship!
Following Tiger's orders, the army worms deactivated all their firearms to prevent any accidental discharge of the primordial honey. After all, they had already learned from actual combat that large quantities of highly concentrated primordial honey could explode upon ignition, potentially forming a wormhole leading directly to the alien hive.
They conducted a thorough search of the interior of the starship, and finally reported to Tiger:
"Sir, a mimic skin highly suspected to be that of the wanted criminal Alfonso Rooney was found inside the starship. It seems to have been drained dry by some alien species."
"A pair of mimic hands were found on the steel cable. Their identities cannot be confirmed. DNA comparison is needed."
"The lower half of a giant breeding honey bee was found in the first honey pond. Only the abdomen is left. This may be a first honey mother bee. Testing is needed to confirm."
"The breach inside the starship appears to have been caused by some alien species drilling through it. Clear traces of alien shells and primordial honey remain along the edges."
"No signs of life found. OVER."
