Chapter 20 Sorrow

Chapter 20 Sorrow

"Oh, you can't blame me. This forest is so big, and there is no map or coordinates. I was lost all night and finally found here. You are still angry with me!" Luo Youyou pretended to be angry.

Sure enough, Han Shuiyan turned her head and laughed, then looked at Luo Youyou with some worry, "Don't run around in this forest in the future. There are all kinds of monsters. You have to be careful!" Then she hid in the tree, and when she came out, she was holding a small and delicate wooden stick in her hand, which reminded Luo Youyou of a miniature magic wand.

Han Shuiyan handed the small wooden stick to Luo Youyou and said, "Next time you come, this will guide you here."

Luo Youyou was not polite and just put it away and stuffed it into her pocket, with some of it still sticking out. She glanced at the wolf den and saw the stench. It seemed that the wolves were all there.

"You still have jackals here." Luo Youyou pointed to the wolf den.

Unexpectedly, Han Shuiyan's face suddenly turned red, and she muttered, "I... I... I need fertilizer..."

Luo Youyou burst into laughter. That’s right, Hanshuiyan is a tree, so it naturally needs nutrients. But raising such a group of wolves is smelly enough.

"Don't laugh!" Han Shuiyan stamped her foot. "In this forest, my kind all have a den of wolves like this. Each tree requires a different kind of fertilizer. Some need animal carcasses, some need feces, and some simply devour any living thing that passes by."

Luo Youyou nodded. It was something similar to a Piranha plant. She looked up at the Han Shuiyan tree. It was lush and leafy. From below, you couldn't see the top of the tree. The branches were thick, but she didn't know what kind of tree it was. It looked like a fir tree.

"And these wolves are very well behaved." Han Shuiyan winked at Luo Youyou, then howled at the wolf den. The sound was exactly the same as that of the wolves. Then the wolf king came out and bowed his head in front of Han Shuiyan, allowing her to touch his head. "They are my only playmates."

Luo Youyou stared at the scene blankly. This was the first time she saw a wolf as obedient as a dog. She finally understood what it meant that the world is full of wonders. Thinking of the day when she killed a wolf and turned it into barbecued pork, Han Shuiyan must be very sad. A small trace of guilt welled up in Luo Youyou's heart. Of course, it was only a small feeling, so small that it disappeared in a flash, because this world is the law of the jungle. If she didn't kill, she would be the one to die.

"Come here, touch them too. Actually, they are very easy to get along with." Han Shuiyan greeted Luo Youyou.

Luo Youyou hesitated for a moment and walked over. The wolf king's hair stood up, his facial expression became ferocious, and he growled softly.

"It's afraid of you." Han Shuiyan looked up and smiled at Luo Youyou.

Luo Youyou smiled bitterly. If even wolves were afraid of him, then he would become a real devil!

Han Shuiyan howled at the Wolf King for a while, and only after the Wolf King calmed down did Luo Youyou dare to approach and touch its head. The Wolf King seemed to enjoy it very much, and soon he even lay down at Luo Youyou's feet and acted like a naughty dog.

"I named it Hu Zi!" Han Shuiyan said with shining eyes.

Luo Youyou burst out laughing. With the name Hu Zi, Han Shuiyan really treated it as a pet. If his wolf pack knew that their king had such a cute name, they would probably die of laughter.

"Why are you called Han Shuiyan?" Luo Youyou asked with her head tilted. This name was so ancient and poetic that it made her curious.

"Many years ago, before I transformed into a human form, it must have been at least a thousand years ago. A pair of lovers said goodbye beside me. The girl was called Han Shuiyan." Han Shuiyan's vision became hazy, as if she was lost in memories. "I knew from their expressions that they loved each other, but I don't know why they separated. Later, the boy left, and the girl hanged herself on one of my branches."

"What happened next?" Luo Youyou looked at Han Shuiyan's expression and knew that there must be a later part. This chubby-faced girl seemed a little sad when she recalled the past.

"Later, the girl's body was carried back by her family. Not long after, the boy must have found out about it. He came to me every day to play the flute and miss the girl." Han Shuiyan continued, her bright eyes rippling with tears.

Luo Youyou smiled knowingly, and continued Han Shuiyan's words, "You like that boy, right?"

Han Shuiyan's face flushed red all of a sudden. She shyly hit Luo Youyou a few times, then said with some sadness, "Devil sister, do you think he will be reincarnated?"

Luo Youyou had been trying to immerse herself in her sad memories, but after hearing these words, the little bit of emotion she had just built up vanished. She slapped Han Shuiyan on the head and said righteously, "First, how could I possibly know something that a fairy who has lived for thousands of years doesn't know? Second, my name is Luo Youyou! Not Devil. As for sister... just consider it a slight disadvantage for me to let you call me Sister Youyou."

Han Shuiyan pouted her face again in anger, this time not because Luo Youyou patted her head, but because she was immersed in her own sadness. This guy was not into the role at all!

Luo Youyou felt like laughing when she saw her angry look, but she tried hard to suppress her laughter. "Let's go to the top of your head and watch the sunrise!"

After saying that, without waiting for Han Shuiyan's answer, Luo Youyou jumped to the top of the tree one step at a time. Han Shuiyan was so angry that she stomped her feet, but when she looked up at the top of the tree, she couldn't help but feel the expectation in her heart. She hid in the tree trunk, and when she came out again, she was next to Luo Youyou.

The sky first turned pale, then a brilliant red, a completely different feeling from the sunset. Luo Youyou stood on the treetop, gazing into the distance. The entire Miao Mountain was in sight. Not far away, there was a faint light, sometimes bright and sometimes dim. It must be the light that attracted Luo Youyou that day.
