There were no cars or other means of transportation in the Demon Realm, so when they set out from the castle, they rode a giant flying bird with a back as flat as a plain, colorful feathers, a blue and yellow striped beak, and a head of snow-white feathers.
They sat on the back of the flying bird. Even with so many people sitting there, it was still very spacious, which showed how huge the bird was. It flapped its huge wings and flew steadily, taking them to the seaside.
When we arrived at the seaside, there were many boats. They were a little different from the boats in the human world. They were called boats, but they were actually huge fish with hold built on their backs like a boat.
"This is modeled after humans' boats, but ours is more environmentally friendly." Hanmi smiled proudly and led them to a fish.
The interior of the cabin is simple but comfortable, without any overly gorgeous decorations. It is divided into many small cabins like a ship. Each cabin has the same layout, with a comfortable bed and a simple bathroom.
The water used on the ship is pumped from the sea. Unlike the ocean in the human world, it has no salt and has a faint sweet and fishy smell, nothing else.
These ships are prepared for wizards and witches in the demon world. Although they can ride their own flying brooms when crossing the ocean, it consumes a lot of physical strength and spiritual energy. The flying broom is their means of short-distance transportation and a skill that is only used in battle. Normally, if there is nothing special, they will still choose to take a boat or a flying bird.
The wizards all have powerful magic, so the facilities on the ship are very simple, because they can be self-sufficient when needed. Such simple furnishings have no effect on others. Only Yue Shenxun complained for a while.
They each chose a room, and Hanmi said hello to the big fish below. Then the boat set sail. There was no humming of the engine, only the sound of the water. It was so smooth that it seemed as if they were still on land.
It was a rare opportunity for them to walk in the sunshine, so the next day at dawn, they stood on the deck almost the entire day, some chatting, some basking in the sun. It was the most leisurely and comfortable day they had spent in a while.
At night, as they slept in their cabin, they could faintly hear beautiful singing. It was the voice of a young girl, a mellow melody woven together. It clung to each other, sometimes clear and melodious like a stream flowing over rocks, sometimes lingering and low, like the chirping of a yellow oriole or the graceful dance of a young girl.
They stood up and went to the deck, looking out at the dark sea following the singing.
In the human world, they were the masters of the night. They could see clearly even in the pitch black. But here, their night vision seemed to be the same as humans'. They could only see the dark blue sea surging up, intertwining with the thick hue of the sky. Nothing else was clear. And tonight, there was no moon.
Luo Youyou also came to the deck. Everyone looked at each other in confusion, wondering where the singing came from. She took out a map and saw a red dot next to Mermaid Island, but looking around, there was only the endless sea and no island at all.
"Is this the mermaid's song?" Luo Youyou asked Hanmi.
Hanmi was intoxicated by what he heard. Luo Youyou's voice brought him back to reality and he nodded.
"But I heard that the mermaid's song can confuse people's minds and pull them into the sea." Luo Youyou frowned slightly, but looked at the others. They seemed to be very sober, just a little tipsy, because the song was like the sound of nature.
"It can confuse people's minds, but we are not human." Hanmi laughed and joked, "Humans are the creatures with the weakest willpower. To us, such singing is just beautiful, nothing more."
"The map says this is Mermaid Island, but I don't see any island." Luo Youyou pointed the map to Hanmi.
"The island is on the bottom of the sea. Actually, it's not an island, but an underwater palace where mermaids live. Your picture is from the human world and is not accurate." Hami explained.
Luo Youyou nodded and began to appreciate the heavenly music that seemed to come from heaven. Once she was sure there was no danger, she felt relieved. She had been too nervous all this time and felt that everything she encountered was dangerous.
"We in the demon world get along very well with mermaids. Sometimes, mermaids will surface to communicate with us. They are all very beautiful and kind. But I heard from the elders that the mermaids in your human world are more terrifying. Anyone who sees them will be pulled to the bottom of the sea. No one knows what happened because no one has ever come back." Hanmi chatted with Luo Youyou while listening to music.
"Don't mermaids use their singing to seduce sailors? Why not just bet their ears?" Luo Youyou said casually.
"It used to be like this, but later I heard that plugging your ears doesn't help. Sometimes that sea area emits strange lights, and sailors still lose their minds."
"Maybe those sailors were dragged down and married the mermaids, and lived happily ever after." Luo Youyou said while giggling.
"You've read too many fairy tales." Jing Yan interjected from behind them at some point. "Let's not even talk about whether humans can live underwater. Just look at the mermaid's appearance. Even if she marries a sailor, she won't be happy. It's too scary."
"Have you seen a mermaid?" Luo Youyou became interested and asked anxiously.
Jing Yan shook his head. "I've seen a portrait of her in a book. It had a ginseng fish tail, but it looked like a monster, not a human face." Jing Yan said, carefully glancing at Mo Yu, then leaned over to Luo Youyou's ear and whispered, "It looks similar to Mo Yu."
But no matter how quietly he spoke, he was guarding against the vampires after all, so how could he escape their ears? Moreover, Mo Yu was an eavesdropper and stalker of the vampires. His main responsibility in the secret party was to spy on intelligence, and his hearing was dozens of times more sensitive than that of other clans.
