"What's going on? Shen Yi'an, explain yourself!"

Yun Jin held the phone close to her ear in disbelief, her heart racing.

On the other end of the phone, Shen Yi'an took a deep breath, chuckled, and said, "Simply put, the show rejected me, um... that's it."

"Stop right now!" Yun Jin immediately interrupted him. "Could you teach me how to get rejected by the show? I really need it right now."

"..."

There was a long silence on the other end of the phone, so long that Yun Jin thought the phone was out of battery or that Shen Yi'an had fallen asleep.

"Yun Jin... you don't need to comfort me. I'm used to it. It's all trivial." Shen Yi'an's voice sounded somewhat helpless.

“No, Shen Yi’an, you’ve misunderstood,” Yun Jin’s tone became serious. “I meant exactly what I said. I want to know how to get the production team to bring this up on their own initiative.”

She hesitated for a moment, then decided to tell Shen Yi'an about Qin Yi's threat. Yun Jin took a deep breath and recounted the whole story.

There was silence on the other end of the phone. After a while, Shen Yi'an's deep and tense voice came through.

"So many things happened while I was away? Yun Jin, are you... scared?"

“Fear is inevitable,” Yun Jin said frankly, but she was firm. “But as long as I think that you are still by my side, will I still be afraid?”

“I see…” Shen Yi’an’s voice softened. “Yun Jin, you are really… amazing. If it were me, I would have been scared to death by such a terrible threat.”

"Oh, don't praise me like that," Yun Jin smiled a little embarrassedly after he said that, and sat up straight. "Shen Yi'an, actually I had nightmares all night last night and didn't sleep well at all."

Shen Yi'an seemed to chuckle softly on the other end of the phone, then said, "How about this, after your sister comes back, you two come to my place, and we'll discuss it together, okay?"

Yun Jin held her phone; Shen Yi'an knew the people in this circle better than they did.

So she said, "Okay, I'll call you later."

After hanging up the phone, Yun Jin let out a deep breath. She was initially unsure of herself and even worried about Shen Yi'an's reaction, fearing that he would see her as a nuisance and become annoyed or withdrawn.

But now it seems that Yun Jin was overthinking things; Shen Yi'an was genuinely worried about her.

Yun Jin leaned back onto her familiar bed, looked at the ceiling, closed her eyes, clasped her hands together at her chest, and prayed silently in her heart.

Cat God above, please bless me so that I may get through this ordeal safely. If my wish is granted, I will offer all the most delicious canned food in the world as a token of my gratitude.

After finishing her prayers, Yun Jin turned over and buried her face in the pillow that smelled of sunshine.

——

Despite the bright sunshine outside, the atmosphere inside the villa's living room was heavy.

Yun Chen spread out copies of the previously signed contracts on the coffee table one by one. The dense black characters on the white paper made Yun Jin want to doze off after only looking at them for a while, just like when she was in college.

“I just had a good talk with Liu Li,” Yun Chen’s voice broke the silence in the living room. “If we want to cancel directly, we can’t avoid this considerable amount of penalty money.”

Yun Jin didn't dare to look closely at how many zeros were after that number. Just glancing at it would give her goosebumps. She subconsciously hugged her arms and got up to pace back and forth in the living room.

On the other side, Shen Yi'an was sitting on the sofa with a furrowed brow, typing rapidly to communicate with Yan Fei. His breathing was heavier than usual, indicating that the communication was not going well.

After a while, he put down his watch, rubbed his throbbing temples, and looked at Yun Jin and Yun Chen with a serious expression.

"Actually, it's not just about the exorbitant penalty for breach of contract. Yan Fei and I looked into it carefully, and there are also hidden clauses and related liabilities that are very unfavorable to you. Unilateral breach of contract may affect your future business cooperation, or even... sigh, you shouldn't have agreed so hastily in the first place."

Yun Jin stopped and looked helplessly at Shen Yi'an, sighing, "Back then, we didn't expect this to happen either. Shen Yi'an, is there any other way we can help?"

The living room fell silent again.

“I can’t think of anything right now,” Yun Chen said, resting his head on his hand and looking out the window. “I heard that many of the star animals selected before were found to be unfit for health or not obedient enough and were rejected. Liu Li said that you have to stay and support the team.”

Upon hearing this, Shen Yi'an tilted his head in confusion, sat up straight, and spoke.

"Yan Fei told me that Bruce, who was involved in the filming, passed away unexpectedly some time ago. He was reported by viewers and animal protection organizations, which had a great impact on the program, which led to the program being suspended for a period of time due to the reports."

Shen Yi-an continued, "It seems they are claiming it's a problem with celebrity pets to cover up the impact."

"Bruce...is dead?" Yun Jin covered her mouth in disbelief. Although she hadn't had much interaction with him, hearing this news was still hard for her to accept.

"What happened?" She leaned against the wall, looking at Shen Yi'an, and asked, "It couldn't have been... Zhang Shuo who did it, could it?"

"Sis, how is that possible?" Yun Chen waved his hand, not believing Yun Jin's wild idea. "If you ask me, it must be the production team's problem. They almost gave you heatstroke before."

Shen Yi'an suddenly smiled and silently added a sarcastic remark: "However, given his underdeveloped brain and consistently poor self-control, it's also possible."

After hearing this, the Yun Jin sisters were first stunned, then exchanged a glance, somewhat amused and exasperated, never expecting Shen Yi'an to have such a sharp tongue.

Both of them chuckled softly, shaking their heads with a mixture of helplessness and amusement. Shen Yi'an blinked in confusion, and the heavy atmosphere in the living room eased somewhat with their interaction.

As the minute hand circled round and round, the three of them still couldn't come up with a solution.

Yun Jin was the first to give in. She stood up abruptly, rubbed her sore and dry eyes, and felt that she never wanted to look at a contract again in her life.

"No, I need to rest for a while, my eyes are going to go blind."

Seeing this, Shen Yi'an also stood up: "It's already this late, I'll go order takeout. I need to eat my fill so I'll have the energy to keep thinking."

After saying that, he took his phone and went outside.

Yun Chen continued to look at the contract, her brows furrowed, one hand supporting her increasingly heavy head, while the other hand kept turning the pages.

Then, my head grew heavier and heavier, my arms slowly gave way and began to go limp, and I slid down...

"Bang!"

With a muffled thud, Yun Chen's head slammed solidly against the coffee table!

The loud noise startled Yun Jin, who had been resting with her eyes closed. She immediately opened her eyes wide and asked, "Yun Chen, what's wrong?"

She quickly got up and came over to help Yun Chen up.

"Ouch—that hurts!" Yun Chen cried out in pain, letting go of her hand, and a red mark immediately appeared on her forehead.

"Are you alright? Let me see." Yun Jin tenderly examined Yun Chen's forehead. Fortunately, it was just a red patch. She helped her sit down on the sofa. "How are you feeling now?"

"It's nothing, I just bumped into something, I'll be fine after lying down." Yun Chen lay down.

"You must tell me if you feel unwell, don't get a concussion," Yun Jin said worriedly.

"How could that be? Such a weak force." Yun Chen couldn't help but smile slightly when he saw his sister's expression.

Yun Jin gathered up the contracts scattered on the coffee table and the floor, carefully organized them, and neatly stacked them on the coffee table.

However, the feel of the pages made her realize something was wrong. Why was this page so thick? Her heart tightened, and she quickly looked at the page number.

Sure enough, pages 25 and 27 were stuck together; you wouldn't notice it if you just looked at it.

Yun Jin carefully separated them, and page 26, with some requests that Yun Chen had made earlier, caught her attention.

Participants are free to choose which artists to collaborate with on the show.

Participants have the right to choose the filming time and location within the scope provided by the production team.

She read the terms aloud softly, her eyes growing brighter and brighter, and a brilliant idea popped into her mind.

"Yun Chen, look, this is the request you made before." Yun Jin excitedly handed the discovery to Yun Chen, her voice trembling with excitement.

Yun Jin took the paper, looked at it, and asked, somewhat puzzled, "What's wrong? I suggested these to give you some options. Is there a problem?"

"It's not a problem, it's fantastic!" Yun Jin stood up excitedly and took a few steps. "Since the contract stipulates this, I can specify that I'll be filming with Shen Yi'an!"

"Sis, I still don't understand." Yun Chen hadn't followed the train of thought.

“That’s how it is,” Yun Jin explained excitedly, “Think about it, Shen Yi’an was rejected and can’t participate, but I specified him, so the production team can’t meet the requirements of the contract, and I can also choose not to participate.”

"Moreover, if they bring Shen Yi'an back, I will have a guarantee to film with Shen Yi'an. Even if Qin Yi wants to cause trouble, it will be inconvenient."

As Yun Chen listened to her sister's analysis, her eyes widened. She slapped her thigh and exclaimed, "Sis, you're a genius! You even managed to find this bug!"

Shen Yi'an entered the room, and before he could even put down the takeout, Yun Jin rushed to him, her eyes sparkling as she shared the bug she had discovered.

Shen Yi'an listened attentively, thought for a moment, then his eyes lit up and he said, "This is the best method. The production team will definitely not refuse reasonable requests within the scope of the contract."

He further explained, "For the subsequent filming, I will communicate with the production team to select this location. The filming method will be to install fixed cameras. The production team should not arrange many people; I can find a few bodyguards to watch over things."

After finalizing the plan, Yun Chen and the others agreed on their story to the production team and then set off to find Liu Li for further communication.

Shen Yi'an immediately notified Yan Fei, asking him to coordinate the filming with the production team.

Yan Fei's wailing came through the phone: "My goodness, if we can't film, we can just lay low and rest. Why did you have to go?"

"Just go and make the arrangements, do as I say." Shen Yi'an didn't give him time to chat, and hung up the phone decisively after giving brief instructions.

Hearing Yan Fei's words, Yun Jin couldn't help but worry and asked in a low voice, "Are you alright, Shen Yi'an? Is this putting you in a difficult position?"

“It’s nothing, a minor issue,” Shen Yi’an turned his head and smiled slightly. “It’s just Yan Fei complaining that he doesn’t want to go to work. Don’t worry about him.”

That evening, Yun Chen returned with good news. After considering the benefits of the contract and Yun Chen's persistent persuasion, Liu Li finally agreed to the plan.

The three people in the living room all breathed a sigh of relief, as if a huge weight had been lifted from their hearts.

Tonight, someone can finally get a good night's sleep.
