Doorway

Doorway

"So small?" Qiqi looked around the cramped rental room without any politeness as soon as she entered.

Yun Jin was already feeling complicated, and his disdain only made her want to strangle him.

She grabbed a small, uncomfortable-looking chair and placed it in front of him, saying irritably, "Then go stand by the door and close it behind you."

"Fine, fine." Qi Qi pouted and sat down casually on the small chair, but her eyes kept darting around the rented room.

Yun Jin felt extremely uncomfortable under his gaze, especially when she saw his eyes sweep over the bedside table. She immediately stepped forward and snapped the framed photo of her and Yun Chen down.

This action clearly did not escape Qi Qi's notice, but he merely raised an eyebrow and said nothing.

Yun Jin turned around to face him, her tone wary: "What are you trying to do, to avoid sterilization?"

Qiqi didn't say anything, but smiled.

Yun Jin paused, "Did... Shen Yi'an send you to find me?"

Her heart started racing as she asked the question.

"Heh," Qi Qi scoffed, her face full of disdain, "I have no interest in getting involved in your lovey-dovey stuff, it's too cloying."

He mimicked Shen Yi'an's tone, "What did he say again? He likes you, no matter what you are or what you are..."

"Shut up!" Yun Jin interrupted him in a flash. "If you have nothing else to do, hurry up and leave. Remember to close the door behind you when you go out."

"Alright, alright," Qi Qi said, seeing that she was really angry, and then she toned down her playful attitude a little: "I sneaked out when the villa was in a mess."

"What?" This topic successfully caught Yun Jin's attention.

Qi Qi glanced at her and continued, "Shen Yi'an wanted to come out and find you, he seemed really anxious. But Yan Fei wouldn't let him, saying it would be too troublesome to go out now, and it would be too dangerous if the media took pictures of him. So they started arguing, and they argued quite fiercely."

Yun Jin's heart tightened at first, as if she could see Shen Yi'an's anxious expression and the scene of the two arguing.

But Qi Qi's next words made her feel inexplicably disappointed: "But later, Shen Yi'an made a phone call to someone, said a few words, and then suddenly calmed down. Although his face was still very sour, he didn't insist on coming out anymore."

Damn, who did Shen Yi'an call?

Qiqi keenly noticed the subtle change in her expression and immediately revealed an extremely contemptuous look.

"Tsk, what's with that expression? You clearly want Shen Yi'an to worry about you and rush to your aid, right? You're just being hypocritical, you silly cat demon."

"None of your business!" Yun Jin said coldly. "For an old monster like you who has never been in love, this is hard to understand."

"Who...you...are...the...old...monster...?"

Qi Qi spoke slowly and deliberately, her expression clearly displeased, and she leaned forward slightly, exuding a sense of pressure.

It was as if the word "old monster" had precisely hit a sore spot for him.

“Say it, you,” Yun Jin retorted without backing down.

It was as if invisible sparks were crackling in the air.

The atmosphere in the room instantly became tense, and a cat-dog battle seemed imminent, with both sides poised to fight.

However, in this silent standoff, several very clear "coo coo coo" sounds came from Qiqi's abdomen, breaking the heavy silence.

The sound came at a very inopportune time.

Yun Jin was taken aback at first, then looked at Qi Qi's fierce but defeated appearance due to physiological needs and couldn't help but burst out laughing.

Qi Qi's expression went from surprise to embarrassment, and finally to a suspicious blush.

He instinctively covered his stomach with his hand, seemingly trying to stop it from making those embarrassing noises, but it was clearly to no avail.

His momentum crumbled instantly, and his voice lowered, "I'm hungry."

The old monster's blush might be worth more than a meal Yun Jin had prepared, after all, he also brought news of Shen Yi'an.

Yun Jin took out her phone, opened the food delivery app, and scrolled through the prices, carefully filtering them before finally ordering the cheapest fried rice and quickly placing the order and paying.

The phone screen displays "Estimated delivery time: approximately 60 minutes".

Qiqi curiously leaned over, her head almost resting on Yun Jin's shoulder, pointing and staring at her phone screen.

"So slow... Hey, wait a minute! I can't buy that kind... you know, the kind that looks like it has a lot of meat, the premium dog food? I saw it advertised and it looked pretty good."

He actually made this absurd suggestion in a very serious manner.

Yun Jin glared at him incredulously, snatched the phone back, and said irritably, "No way! First of all, that's dog food! Secondly, it's too expensive! I can't afford it!"

Qiqi pouted, seemingly a little disappointed, but immediately put on a cheeky expression and started a new round of provocative questions.

"Hey? Aren't you that pet blogger, 'Yun Miaomiao's Daily Life,' making a lot of money? How come you're broke?"

He even deliberately raised his voice, imitating the soft, cute tone that might be present in Yun Jin's videos: "I'm Yun Miaomiao~"

"Shut up!" Yun Jin's forehead veins were practically bulging, and she gritted her teeth as she squeezed out the words, "Otherwise you won't even get this cheapest fried rice! Get out of here right now!"

Seeing that Yun Jin was about to explode, Qi Qi decided to quit while he was ahead. But he clearly didn't want to give up this opportunity to control her, so he stroked his chin and rolled his eyes.

"Okay, okay, enough joking around. How about we make a deal?" He wagged his finger. "I promise I won't tell anyone what you just did, and in return, I won't go around talking about what you did."

This is not a fair trade at all! It's clearly more shameful for him!

After a few seconds of stalemate, Yun Jin finally gave in: "...Deal."

Qiqi smiled smugly.

So, in this cramped rented room, the cat and dog demons reached a "ceasefire agreement" based on mutual threats, quietly waiting for the cheapest fried rice that would take an hour to arrive.

Time slowly slipped by as Qiqi idly fiddled with her little trinkets and Yunjin scrolled through her phone while waiting.

Finally, the long-awaited footsteps and the rustling of plastic bags came from outside the door.

"The delivery should have arrived." Yun Jin breathed a sigh of relief, got up and walked towards the door, finally able to escape the awkward atmosphere of being alone with Qi Qi for the time being.

Without thinking much, she opened the door.

However, the person standing outside the door was not a deliveryman in uniform at all!

A tall, fully armed figure almost blocked the entire entrance, exuding the chill of the night and a tense aura.

He wore a black hat pulled low, and a black mask that covered his face completely, leaving only his light purple eyes, which Yun Jin had seen countless times.

His well-tailored black trench coat accentuated his robust, tall, broad-shouldered, and long-legged physique.

Unlike the typical slender "young and handsome" male celebrities in the entertainment industry, Shen Yi'an is the type who maintains a fitness routine in private and is quite muscular and strong, but this is not very noticeable in his usual casual attire.

Because they were so close, almost right at the door, Yun Jin could even hear his slightly heavy breathing, his warm breath seeping through his mask.

Their eyes met.

In the blink of an eye, without any time to consider the consequences, Yun Jin's body reacted faster than her brain.

She chose to slam the door shut with all her might!

"Bang!!!"

The force of Yun Jin's blow was so great that it almost turned on the corridor lights.

Inside the door, Yun Jin leaned against the door panel, her heart pounding wildly, almost leaping out of her chest. She gasped for breath, her mind blank, with only one thought remaining.

How did he find this place?!

He's here?!

He actually came?!

After the loud slam of the door, a suppressed but clear gasp of cold air came from outside: "Hiss—"

The sound was like a bucket of ice water, instantly extinguishing Yun Jin's impulse to run away due to fright, replacing it with immense panic and guilt.

It’s over!

Did you pinch his hand?

Will it pinch my finger off?

Without even thinking, driven by instinctive worry, Yun Jin hurriedly and frantically pulled open the door, disregarding any embarrassment. She carefully examined Shen Yi'an's hand that had been resting on the doorframe.

Thankfully! My hand was only scraped by the door frame, leaving a small patch of skin that was a little red, swollen, and bleeding. It looked a bit painful, but it wasn't nearly as scary as some people say.

Yun Jin's heart, which had been in her throat, finally calmed down a bit, but her guilt remained undiminished.

"Come in quickly!" she commanded almost instinctively, her tone filled with urgent urgency that brooked no refusal. "I'll apply the medicine for you!"

As she spoke, she ignored Shen Yi'an, who was standing frozen at the door, turned around and rushed back into the house, rummaging through drawers and cabinets looking for the first-aid kit, muttering, "Where did Yun Chen put it? I remember it was around here..."

Behind her, Shen Yi'an, who had been frowning and looking pained, couldn't help but reveal a triumphant smile when he saw Yun Jin's panicked expression.

The pain from that minor injury seemed to be instantly healed by the feeling of being cared for by her. He obediently followed her into the small rented room and gently closed the door behind him.

Qiqi, who had been watching the show from the sidelines, transformed back into her dog form before Shen Yi'an entered.

Then, wagging his tail very naturally, he imitated the innocent and harmless manner of an ordinary house dog, and followed along with small, shuffling steps, squeezing next to the two of them, tilting his head as if he were also concerned about their "injuries".

"Huh?" Shen Yi'an touched Qi Qi's head in surprise. "How come Qi Qi is here?"

Yun Jin, who was rummaging through the first-aid kit, didn't even look up. Almost instantly, she came up with an explanation that sounded reasonable: "When I came back last night, I found it nearby. It seemed to be lost, so I brought it back."

At this moment, Yun Jin finally pulled out the small first-aid kit from the pile of clutter and breathed a sigh of relief.

She walked over with the medicine box and saw Qiqi still rubbing against Shen Yi'an's legs. Yun Jin kicked Qiqi aside.

Then, she looked at Shen Yi'an with an embarrassed and apologetic expression: "Here, give me your hand, I'll bandage it for you."

Shen Yi'an's lips curled up, his slight sense of triumph transforming into a more pronounced pleasure.

He very cooperatively stretched out his hand and obediently presented it to Yun Jin.

Shen Yi'an's gaze gently fell on Yun Jin's head, completely ignoring Qi Qi, who had been kicked into the corner and was watching them.

Qiqi: What a pair of scoundrels.
