fear
Impatient, Qiqi rushed into the cage, shouting, "Make way, let me get what you need!"
Yun Jin quickly withdrew, slammed the cage shut with a "snap," and pushed some heavy objects on top of it.
"You lied to me, you're a cunning cat demon!" Qi Qi snapped out of her daze and yelled loudly at Yun Jin.
“Don’t eavesdrop on other people’s privacy, you rude thing,” Yun Jin dusted off her clothes. “This is your punishment.”
Qiqi, inside the cage, was furious and kept banging her body against the sturdy iron cage, making a "clattering" sound.
"You're a damned cat demon! You #@%&..." A series of vicious curses and incoherent insults rang out, clearly Qi Qi was furious and speaking recklessly.
This reminded Yun Jin of the first time she encountered the golden python.
"You just stay here quietly for a while, and I'll let you out after I finish talking with Shen Yi'an."
Yun Jin gently closed the storage room door, shutting out Qi Qi's ghostly howls and wolves' wails behind it.
Yun Jin carefully licked her feathers in front of Shen Yi'an's door. Just as she was about to push the door open and enter, she suddenly remembered that annoying crow.
Yun Jin flashed to the window again, observed for a long time, and only breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that he had flown away.
Shen Yi'an must know her identity. What will they talk about?
Arriving back at Shen Yi'an's door, Yun Jin pushed it open and entered.
Shen Yi'an sat in front of the French windows looking out, and Yun Jin tiptoed to Shen Yi'an's side.
“Shen Yi’an…” Yun Jin hesitated for a moment before speaking first.
Startled by the noise, Shen Yi'an jumped up, his head hitting the table with a loud thud. He crouched down, clutching his head and gasping for breath in pain.
Yun Jin's claws hovered in mid-air, trembling slightly. Her heart was pounding so hard it felt like it would burst out of her chest, and countless terrifying thoughts flashed through her mind.
It's all over, it ......
Shen Yi'an... he couldn't possibly be unaware of this, and then misunderstand?
Wouldn't Yun Jin be like a truck that explodes on its own?
She stared at the back of Shen Yi'an's neck; now there were only two options.
Either she kills Shen Yi'an, Yun Jin imagines her sharp claws slicing through that skin, just one slash, and...
That said, how can a cat possibly defeat a grown man who is over 1.8 meters tall?
Shen Yi'an suddenly spoke, his voice muffled, "Xiao Yun..."
Yun Jin froze, her hand slowly retracting as she covered her mouth instead. Perhaps... perhaps there was still a way to salvage the situation?
Yun Jin took two steps back and almost fell.
Actually, there's another way, like the rooftop. The rooftop is a good option. If she could jump from the twentieth floor, everything would be over. She turned to walk towards the door.
"Wait!" Shen Yi'an grabbed her tail.
"Meow—!" Yun Jin screamed, turned around abruptly, and instinctively stretched out her paw at Shen Yi'an.
Shen Yi'an quickly released his grip and raised his arms in a gesture of surrender: "Calm down! Xiaoyun, it's okay."
Yun Jin's chest heaved violently, her eyes fixed on Shen Yi'an, her mind a complete mess, unsure of what to do next.
“I know you’re more than just a cat,” Shen Yi’an suddenly said, his voice surprisingly calm, “but I was still startled just now.”
The brocade quilt was gently lifted and placed on the cushion, and Shen Yi'an gently stroked her head.
"Really?" Yun Jin patted her chest with her paw to calm herself down.
"When did you find out? Does anyone else know?" Yun Jin asked anxiously.
"Don't be nervous, only I know about this place," Shen Yi'an poured a glass of water and pushed it to Yun Jin.
"When I woke up with a fever that day, I saw you sleeping next to me, and I was stunned for a moment..."
Yun Jin looked away guiltily, "That's because I was so tired from taking care of you that I forgot to change back. I didn't do anything."
“I know, so thank you very much,” Shen Yi’an said, placing his fist on his knee and taking a deep breath. “Can you tell me about your situation?”
Yun Jin looked down at her reflection in the water glass, feeling inexplicably afraid. Shen Yi'an had accepted her identity so easily. Would it really be that smooth?
Out of the corner of her eye, Yun Jin saw Shen Yi'an's phone lying quietly to one side.
“I should tell you about myself first, I’m so sorry,” Shen Yi’an said apologetically, scratching his head. “Then I’ll have to start from the beginning.”
Shen Yi'an leaned his head against the wall, his gaze fixed on the window, as if looking at the distant past.
The silence in the room lasted for a moment. Shen Yi'an took a deep breath and spoke in a low voice.
“When I was a child, my parents went through a divorce and no one cared about me. I lived with my aunt and her family. Xie Xinrou is my cousin, and we are only a few years apart in age.”
Yun Jin nodded. It seemed that what the crow said was true; they weren't siblings, but cousins.
“When I was little, one day after school,” he continued, but his gaze didn’t fall on a particular point in the air, “she was cornered by a talent scout, and I wanted to help her out, but…”
He gave a wry smile, tinged with self-deprecation, "In the end, we were both selected and joined Xingyao Entertainment. At the time, we thought we had struck gold, but now it seems like a tragedy."
“One night,” he said, his voice growing deeper, “a senior colleague at the company invited me to a party. They all had female companions, out of vanity, out of fear of being ostracized, out of a desire to fit in… I inexplicably invited Xie Xinrou along.”
He paused for a long time, so long that Yun Jin thought he wouldn't say anything more.
“At that party, she met Zhang Shuo,” he finally spoke again, “the guy who filmed the variety show with the blond-haired guy.”
Yun Jin frowned but didn't say anything.
"Their ill-fated relationship began, and then Xiaohua was born. But Zhang Shuo, that bastard, how could he possibly take responsibility? How could someone like him be responsible for an ordinary trainee?"
“Xie Xinrou, she…” Shen Yi’an’s voice was filled with suppressed anger, “Every time she comes to me to complain about how Zhang Shuo beats her and how he hangs out with other women. When I want to teach Zhang Shuo a lesson, she stops me.”
He mimicked her tone.
"Cousin, don't go! If we offend him, we'll all be doomed!"
"Never mind, he said he won't do it again next time."
"He wasn't really ready either. Maybe he'll be better when Xiaohua gets a little older."
Shen Yi'an sighed deeply, rubbed his temples, and a heavy sense of powerlessness spread throughout the room.
Yun Jin could easily imagine the torment of being bound by responsibility and guilt, yet unable to truly solve the problem.
She cautiously voiced her speculation: "So... Xie Xinrou covered for Zhang Shuo, and you covered for Xie Xinrou, taking the blame for her a lot?"
"More or less," Shen Yi'an's voice was full of exhaustion, as if all his strength had been drained. "After all, my aunt and uncle took care of me, and I do bear some responsibility for this matter."
He paused for a moment, as if making a decision, and added, "However, I won't care about her anymore."
Yun Jin wanted to ask something, but chose to remain silent.
In the quiet room, a person and a cat sat there, looking so heavy.
After a long while, Shen Yi'an raised his head, his gaze no longer fixed on the empty memories, but instead falling precisely and deeply on Yun Jin.
His eyes were incredibly complex, filled with weariness, a sense of resolve, and an emotion that Yun Jin couldn't decipher.
"I've already shared my story. Can you tell me about yours? Like your name?"
"Yun... Yun Jin," she whispered.
“Yunjin, a very nice name,” Shen Yi’an thought for a moment, “Yunjin, Yunchen…”
"Are you sisters? Can Yun Chen turn into a cat like you?"
"This world is truly incredible..."
Clouds and dust...
The name Yun Chen was like a boulder thrown into a calm lake, stirring up a tidal wave in Yun Jin's heart, leaving her completely stunned.
What was she doing? Because Shen Yi'an revealed a secret, whether true or false, she just blurted out her secret with Yun Chen.
Exposing herself was one thing, but what did it have to do with Guan Yunchen? A strong sense of regret and lingering fear overwhelmed her instantly, even more so than when her identity was exposed earlier.
Shen Yi'an was still saying something, seemingly trying to ease the atmosphere, but his voice became indistinct in Yun Jin's ears, leaving only a buzzing noise.
Yun Jin's thoughts were in complete disarray. Her cheeks began to burn uncontrollably, and her heart was pounding wildly. She opened her mouth, but no sound came out. She could only look at him helplessly.
In the midst of this almost suffocating silence, Shen Yi'an leaned forward, closing the distance a little.
“Yun Jin,” his voice was deep, carrying an undeniable seriousness, “I love you, whether as a cat or as…”
boom--!
Yun Jin felt all the blood rush to her head, and all she could hear was the deafening sound of her own heartbeat.
"No." She heard the voice in her heart.
The moment Shen Yi'an reached out his hand, perhaps to comfort her, or perhaps for something else, Yun Jin's body reacted faster than her brain—she ran away!
At that moment, her physical instincts completely overwhelmed everything. She suddenly darted out, not even using the door, but squeezing through a crack in a window that wasn't completely closed, running across the courtyard, and then rushing towards the outside world without stopping.
The wind howled past her ears, slightly bringing her back to her senses, but fear and confusion still dominated her actions.
She just wanted to get as far away from that room, that problem, and that person who made her feel so lost as possible!
The roar of the outside world grew louder and louder. By the time Yun Jin realized what was happening, she was standing in the middle of the road!
She was immediately enveloped by the screeching sound of tires rubbing against the ground, the driver's angry curses, and an almost continuous cacophony of screeching horns.
"Meow—!" She was so frightened that her fur stood on end and she let out an instinctive scream. Driven by her survival instinct, she dodged left and right between the wheels and finally lunged into the roadside green belt.
It's safe now... temporarily.
She ran through the green belt like a headless fly until the roots of a plant tripped her and she was able to stop. Her heart was pounding wildly and her body was still trembling uncontrollably.
How did it turn out like this?
Yun Jin knew she was being too impulsive, just following Shen Yi'an's thoughts. But she wasn't human; she was a cat demon with a family...
