filthy
The pattering raindrops fell, and the rustling sound of them hitting the leaves jolted Yun Jin out of her chaotic thoughts.
As darkness fell, Yun Jin had to consider a very real and important question—where was she now?
She looked around. She had been so focused on running away that she had lost her bearings. The streets and buildings under the cover of night seemed strange and indifferent.
Not having a cell phone is a truly terrifying thing for a cat. Unable to locate or contact anyone, Yun Jin shivered as she crawled out of the damp green belt.
The streets were deserted, with only the dim streetlights still shining, casting her long, lonely shadow.
The cold rain cleared her mind a little. She only had one place to go now, which was the rented room she shared with Yun Chen.
She tried hard to figure out the direction, relying on her feline instincts to jog towards the general area.
Ouch—it's so cold.
We need to find shelter from the rain, at least to avoid this sudden downpour.
There was a bus stop ahead. Yun Jin quickened her pace. Beside the bus stop, there was a figure holding an umbrella. It was a long-haired girl looking down at her phone, seemingly waiting for the bus.
Yun Jin looked up at the narrow barrier at the station, which offered no protection from the rain. She hesitated for a moment, but her survival instinct overcame her wariness of strangers; she needed this girl's umbrella.
So Yun Jin lowered her voice and made a soft, pitiful "meow meow meow" sound, carefully approaching her and rubbing against her trouser leg in an attempt to gain her sympathy.
"Wow, what's that!" The girl was startled by the sudden furry touch at her feet and let out a soft scream.
A plastic bag she was carrying fell to the side with a "thud," and a can of drink and a bag of snacks rolled out of it.
"Little kitty, you scared me to death!" The girl patted her chest, still shaken, turned on her phone's flashlight, and crouched down.
The light illuminated the damp brocade. "It's a calico cat? And it has heterochromia, that's so rare."
Yun Jin looked at her, noticing that she was wearing a mask and her round-framed glasses were fogged up, and she wasn't sure if she could see herself clearly.
"Your fur is so nicely trimmed, so clean. You must be a house cat that got lost by accident, not a stray," the girl speculated to herself, her tone full of sympathy.
She groped around on the ground, picked up the fallen plastic bag, then took out an empty plastic bag, shook it open, and gestured for Yun Jin to jump in.
"It's raining heavily outside, why don't you come in and take shelter from the rain?"
Yun Jin cautiously took a few steps back, her ears tucked back, not quite understanding what this strange procedure was.
However, before she could react, the girl suddenly reached out and precisely pinched the back of her neck!
"Meow!" Yun Jin cried out in a short, startled voice. The brief stiffness she felt when the skin on the back of her neck was pinched, as a feline, made her unable to resist.
There's really no other way.
"Don't be afraid, little kitty," the girl quickly hugged her tightly, gently stroking her through the thin plastic film. "Little kitty, are you cold? Shall I take you home? I'll dry you off."
"Good sister, I was just overthinking it," Yun Jin said, tears of gratitude streaming down her face.
Bus number 727 sped by. The girl folded her umbrella, held the plastic bag containing brocade, and with some effort, dropped in two coins, making a crisp "ding-dong" sound.
The car door closed behind her, shutting out the cold and the sound of rain.
There weren't many people on the bus. A few elderly people were sitting in the front with their children, chatting loudly about everyday things.
A man, bundled up tightly, sat in the last row, his hat pulled low and his mask covering most of his face, as if he were sleeping.
The girl found a seat by the window, placed the snack bag on the seat next to her, and then carefully adjusted the position of holding Yun Jin so that Yun Jin could sit on her lap.
Yun Jin looked out the blurry window. The emotionless electronic voice on the radio announced one station after another that she was not familiar with.
She silently calculated in her mind that she still had to pass through more than a dozen stops before she could reach the vicinity of her rented house.
What made her a little uneasy was that the girl holding her was already searching for cat food on her phone. She was humming a song and would occasionally touch Yunjin through the bag, clearly in the mood to "bring a new pet home".
If this girl really wants to take her home, it will be troublesome. Once she enters someone else's home, it will be difficult for her to escape.
Also, will Shen Yi'an come out to look for her?
When this thought involuntarily popped into her head, what kind of expression would Shen Yi'an have after she ran away—would he be anxious, angry, or... disappointed? She thought of his sudden confession and her embarrassing, hasty retreat.
Thinking of this, Yun Jin lowered her head, and her ears drooped listlessly.
Cats think relationships are a very troublesome thing.
Two stops later, a strange smell wafted out, a mixture of sweat and...
She turned around abruptly and saw that the man, who was wrapped up tightly, had silently taken up the seat directly behind them! He was so close that the source of the unpleasant smell was him.
At this moment, he leaned forward slightly, not looking directly at her, but using the blurry reflection in the car window to brazenly peek at the girl playing on her phone.
Yun Jin anxiously tugged at the girl's arm through the plastic bag with her paw.
"Hmm? What's wrong, little kitty?" The girl finally lowered her head, but she completely misunderstood. Instead, she smiled and lowered her phone further, pointing the screen at Yun Jin. "Look how cute this cat bed is! Do you like it?"
On the screen was a fluffy pink cat bed. Yun Jin was extremely anxious. She tried to point behind her with her paws and made rapid "meowing" sounds in her throat.
The girl didn't pay any attention, assuming the cat was interested in its new home, and muttered to herself, "Why don't we buy this? Oh, it even comes with a cat tree, buying them together seems like a better deal..."
She was completely absorbed in the joy of "virtual cat ownership" becoming a reality, oblivious to the danger that was right in front of her.
Yun Jin felt a bit disappointed in her, but then she thought that if she hadn't attracted the girl's attention, the girl might have discovered her intentions.
Well, Yun Jin herself also bears some responsibility.
The man in the back seat carefully pinched the corner of the girl's coat sleeve, which was hanging down on the side of the seat, with two fingers, and gently pulled it towards him through the gap between the seats.
At that moment, Yun Jin heard a very soft sound, like the sound of a zipper being pulled open.
Above the man's mask, his eyes emitted a strange, murky light, filled with a twisted excitement.
Then came a strange hissing sound coming from the man's direction.
Yun Jin understood immediately, and a surge of emotion, a mixture of extreme disgust and anger, welled up within her.
Rubbish!
Yun Jin first extended her claws, silently gathering her strength, and then struck out fiercely.
"ah--"
The man let out a wail and jumped up from his seat as if he had been electrocuted, screaming "Ouch! Ouch!" repeatedly.
The sudden commotion instantly drew the attention of everyone on the bus.
The girl was startled by the screams and commotion behind her. She instinctively pulled her sleeve back and looked down at her cuff.
"I...what the hell!" The girl instantly realized what was happening, her face turning pale with disgust, before erupting in fury, "Are you crazy! You pervert!!"
She reacted incredibly quickly, grabbing the man who was still bent over in pain; her strength was astonishing.
"You shameless bastard! Doing this kind of thing on a bus!"
"Ding-dong—" The familiar station name announcement sounded, and we were already very close to Yun Jin's rented room. The bus door opened with a "whoosh."
"Perfect timing! Get off the bus! To the police station!" The girl angrily grabbed the man who was trying to struggle and argue, and forcefully dragged him off the bus.
Because of his injuries, the man had much less strength to struggle and was half-heartedly pulled down.
Yun Jin immediately sprang into action, quickly emerging from the open plastic bag and snatching up a bag of snacks the girl had forgotten to take.
The rain was still falling outside, and the platform lights were dim.
As soon as the man got out of the car, he seemed to have recovered a little. He said, "I'm sorry, I was wrong. Don't go to the police station." Then, taking advantage of the moment when the girl took out her phone, he suddenly broke free from her hand, covered his genitals, and staggered into the rain to escape!
"Hey! What's the point of running? I'll check the security footage! You pervert!" the girl shouted angrily in the direction he ran.
She was panting as she straightened her clothes, stuffed the stained coat into a plastic bag, her face filled with disgust and lingering fear.
At this moment, Yun Jin was looking down, staring blankly at her trembling paw.
My paws... my paws touched something extremely disgusting and indescribable...
Yun Jin was internally screaming, she knew she couldn't keep this claw.
She even started thinking about whether she should go back and try to rub off this layer of skin...
"Thank you, little kitty." The girl didn't care about Yun Jin's dirty fur and hugged Yun Jin tightly, her voice trembling slightly.
"Meow meow meow meow." Yun Jin gently rubbed her arm with her head.
A person and a cat waited quietly for a while at the bus stop in the rain, with only the sound of raindrops hitting the roof.
"Be my kitten, okay?" After a while, the girl seemed to calm down a bit before she loosened her grip slightly, looked at Yun Jin, and spoke very seriously.
Looking at her sincere yet somewhat impulsive suggestion, Yun Jin broke free from the girl's embrace and lightly jumped onto the wet ground.
Instead of running away immediately, she raised one of her front paws and pointed to a building in the distance.
A hint of disappointment flashed across the girl's face, but she quickly recovered and smiled.
“Okay,” she crouched down, looking Yun Jin in the eye, “Little kitty, my name is Qin An. Uh, although the process was a bit messy, I’m still glad I could give you a ride.”
She paused, then added, "Thank you too... for helping me."
Yun Jin rubbed her hand one last time as a farewell, then turned and ran into the darkness.
I need to get home quickly, ouch!
