Panic
Yun Jin took a deep breath, trying to ignore Qi Qi behind her who was pretending to be innocent but was actually watching the show, as well as the man in front of her with a very strong presence.
She opened the first-aid kit, which contained a few items, but was fairly complete. She took out a bottle of iodine and a pack of sterile cotton swabs.
"It might hurt a little, just bear with it." Yun Jin's voice sounded somewhat unnatural.
Shen Yi'an got too close!
His palm was facing upwards, and there was a small patch of skin broken where it had been pinched by the door, with some redness and swelling around it and some bleeding.
Yun Jin used a cotton swab to apply a small amount of iodine solution to his wound.
The moment the brown liquid touched Shen Yi'an's wound, Yun Jin clearly felt Shen Yi'an's fingers curl slightly.
"Does it hurt?" She immediately stopped what she was doing, subconsciously looked up at him, her eyes filled with guilt.
Next time, she would never slam the door so hard, Yun Jin vowed.
Shen Yi'an met her gaze, his light purple eyes appearing exceptionally deep at that moment. He shook his head, his voice somewhat muffled: "It doesn't hurt, it's alright, you can continue."
Yun Jin lowered her head again and cleaned the area around the wound more carefully.
Her fingertips would occasionally, inevitably and very slightly, touch the skin on the back of his hand. His skin was warm, while her fingers were somewhat cold due to nervousness.
After disinfection, Yun Jin took out a band-aid, peeled it off, and compared it to the location of the wound.
"It might be a little small..." she muttered softly, then applied the tape to the wound, gently smoothing out the ends of the tape before sticking it to the back of his hand.
Through the thin tape, she could feel the clear outline of the knuckles on the back of his hand through her fingertips.
Yun Jin tried to make her movements look natural, but her slightly reddened ears betrayed her.
Throughout the entire process, Shen Yi'an was extremely cooperative, remaining completely still, his gaze focused and gentle.
Finally, it was all pasted on. Yun Jin breathed a sigh of relief, as if she had completed a major task, and then looked up: "Alright, be careful not to get it wet these next couple of days..."
Before she could finish speaking, she was caught off guard and met Shen Yi'an's unblinking eyes.
After staring at each other for a moment, Yun Jin suddenly came to her senses and realized that she had been staring into Shen Yi'an's eyes and lost in thought. She immediately lowered her head in a panic, trying to hide her flushed cheeks and her racing heart.
However, when I looked down, my gaze, unfortunately, fell... down.
Shen Yi'an, dressed in a well-tailored black trench coat, stood casually at the moment. Due to the extremely close distance between the two, Yun Jin's downward angle...
The outline of that... that part... was indeed... unusually obvious under the tight black fabric.
Even the visual shrinking effect of black creates an undeniable...presence.
Yun Jin silently uttered an inappropriate internet meme.
Black makes you look bigger
"Yun Jin, what did you say?" Shen Yi'an tilted his head.
"Oh, it's nothing, you were just too close to me."
Yun Jin was truly caught in a dilemma, wishing she could just disappear on the spot!
Whether you are a human god or a cat god, Yun Jin hereby repents to you. Whether she deliberately turned yellow or not, it is all Shen Yi'an's fault. He seduced her.
"Woof!" Qiqi, who had been ignored for a long time in the corner, barked in dissatisfaction, protesting the cloying atmosphere.
Yun Jin seemed to wake from a dream, went to the door to retrieve Qi Qi's prepared meal, opened it for him to eat, and Qi Qi immediately shed two lines of hot tears.
Finally, it's time to eat, family.
Shen Yi'an said slowly, "Yun Jin, first of all, I want to apologize to you. Before... I was too reckless and scared you."
Yun Jin, who was hurriedly packing her first-aid kit with her head down, paused for a moment. She hadn't expected him to apologize first.
She continued what she was doing, covering the iodine solution, putting the cotton swab back in the box, and responding in a muffled voice, "...It's okay, actually...I also have a lot of things I haven't figured out."
She put the medicine box back in its place, turned her back to Shen Yi'an, and seemed to have mustered a lot of courage before asking the question in a very soft voice.
Why... do you like me?
Yun Jin turned around and looked at him, her eyes filled with confusion.
She felt confused, weak, and carrying a huge burden; she didn't understand what she had to like about herself.
Shen Yi'an seemed to think about the question very seriously, and then his eyes became very gentle, as if he was recalling something beautiful.
"Why?" He repeated her question, then slowly said, "Actually... I haven't thought about it carefully. If I had to give a reason... it might be because you saved me, because you've always been very patient with me, because..."
He paused, seemingly searching for a more accurate word, but in the end, he smiled, a smile tinged with self-deprecation.
"My Chinese isn't very good, so I probably can't say anything particularly romantic or beautiful. Maybe... liking something can be without reason? It's just a feeling, and when I realize it, it's already there."
Yun Jin was somewhat worried about Shen Yi'an's emotional nature.
Yun Jin frowned slightly, trying to analyze it from a more realistic perspective: "From my point of view, this is very strange, Shen Yi'an."
“I am a cat demon,” she stated directly, “and you’re not afraid? Shouldn’t a normal person feel fear or disgust? Besides, we’ve only known each other for a few days? And you…you say you like me? That’s too fast, it feels unreal to me.”
Shen Yi listened quietly without interrupting. Only after she finished speaking did he meet her puzzled gaze, his tone calm yet firm.
“What you are is not important,” he said firmly. “Whether you are a cat, a person, or something else, it’s just a form of your existence.”
He sighed softly, "Aren't people sometimes even more terrifying?"
“But we are different species. What if we lived together?” Yun Jin thought for a moment, “for example…”
She was momentarily stunned, unable to think of what to say.
“For example what?” Shen Yi’an’s eyebrows curved into a smile, clearly not taking Yun Jin’s words to heart.
For example, I won't be able to have children with you in the future.
As soon as she finished speaking, Yun Jin froze. What kind of ridiculous example was that?! What was she even talking about?! This was not a question she should be considering right now!
Yun Jin screamed internally: I just wanted to point out the objective obstacle of reproductive isolation! I wasn't really considering having a child with you!
As expected, Shen Yi'an's eyes widened noticeably upon hearing this, his light purple pupils filled with surprise, but the surprise was quickly replaced by delight and a smile.
He leaned forward, his voice brimming with barely suppressed pleasure: "I didn't expect... that you had already considered things so far ahead."
"As for the issue of children, if you like children, we can adopt one. Actually... I'm not really concerned about whether we have to have children."
"Yun Jin, if you want it, I will support you."
Meanwhile, Qiqi, who had been pretending to nibble on a takeout box, opened her mouth wide and perked up her ears as if she were listening to some juicy gossip, forgetting even to eat.
Yun Jin was filled with shame and indignation by Shen Yi'an's words and Qi Qi's reaction. She couldn't help but rub her forehead, deeply regretting her actions, and tried to bring the off-track conversation back on track.
"That's not what I meant! I was just... just giving an example! An illustration to show that differences will exist between us!" Yun Jin's voice rose slightly with anxiety. "The point is! Reality isn't as smooth as you think! There will be many, many problems!"
To cover her embarrassment and to stop the only "audience" from continuing to watch the show, she suddenly turned to the dumbfounded Qiqi and vented her anger on it, yelling fiercely, "Go eat your food! Shut your ears! Don't listen!"
Qiqi stood up, wagged its tail, and walked to Shen Yi'an's legs. Then it started rubbing its head against his trouser leg, making whimpering noises.
Yun Jin gritted her teeth. This old monster should be given a good thrashing sometime.
“Of course, the differences you mentioned exist,” he said slowly, “but I will try my best to find ways to solve and overcome them, rather than giving up directly.”
“For example, I will try to quit the entertainment industry,” Shen Yi’an said seriously to Yun Jin, his hand unconsciously clenching into a fist.
However, he forgot about the band-aid he had just put on his hand, and with this force, he accidentally poked the wound, causing him to gasp in pain.
"Ouch—that hurts."
"Don't get so agitated!" Seeing this, Yun Jin quickly stepped forward, took his injured hand, and carefully examined the wound.
Seeing how nervous she was for him, Shen Yi'an let her hold his hand and said, "I... had this thought all along. The entertainment industry isn't a place I really want to stay in for a long time."
"So, it's not just because of you, Yun Jin, but now, that reason has become more compelling and urgent."
He paused, then promised, "When I have time, I'll slowly tell you about my situation and these thoughts."
Yun Jin listened to his words, avoiding his gaze. She remained silent for a moment, then looked up at the clock on the wall. The hour hand had stopped at 12 o'clock.
“Okay,” she said softly, her tone much gentler, “I…I understand, it’s getting late.”
She pointed to the clock. "Do you...have work tomorrow? Shouldn't you be going back?"
Upon hearing Yun Jin's words, Shen Yi'an lowered his gaze, his long eyelashes casting a small shadow beneath his eyes.
He paused for a moment, then spoke again, his voice a little hoarse: "Because of Xiao Hua's commotion, filming has basically been temporarily suspended."
But then, as if he suddenly remembered something, his eyes lit up, and he looked up at Yun Jin again, his tone carrying a hint of cautious expectation.
"Oh, right! It seems like the 'Amazing Furry Kids' show is about to start filming." He said, carefully observing Yun Jin's expression. "So... Yun Jin, maybe... we need you to come over to my place for a bit? We need to rehearse the script beforehand..."
Yun Jin immediately felt embarrassed and resistant. She hadn't fully sorted out her thoughts yet and really didn't want to run to Shen Yi'an's house again and continue playing the role of a pet.
She absolutely did not want to go.
However... the contract for the program has already been signed, in black and white, and Yun Jin doesn't want to pay an exorbitant penalty for breach of contract.
After struggling for a few seconds, she finally avoided Shen Yi'an's expectant gaze and uttered two dry words: "...Okay."
