Chapter 29 Starfall and the Noob Ethan As soon as the meeting ended, Ethan…
As soon as the meeting ended, Ethan couldn't wait to open a portal and run away. Every second he stayed, the scene he had just been told would replay in his mind, reinforcing his memory over and over again. How embarrassing, how terrifying! He ran away first.
Reina and Turnas, still unable to catch him: "..."
Why do I have to tell him directly during the meeting not to leave after the meeting ends? He runs off so fast as soon as the meeting is over; I've never managed to catch him.
Rena and Turner were unaware of Ethan's social anxiety; they only noticed that Ethan always ran away very quickly, making it impossible for them to stop him to talk to him.
As for Ethan, who left? He returned to the alternate dimension of Starfall, with a calm demeanor that exuded a faint aura of death.
Seeing his dejected state, Xingyun merely raised an eyebrow, stopping Ethan from going back to lie down and simply stating that she wanted to train his physical fitness.
Ethan, exhausted from the meeting (more so than fighting an octopus monster), was a pathetic loser, having used up all his social energy and spirit. Knicks pitifully asked, "Me?"
Starfall, ruthless and merciless, nodded slightly in affirmation, shattering the last shred of hope in Ethan's heart.
Ethan really wanted to go back to bed and lie down. He didn't know if it was just his imagination, but he felt very tired. Besides the physical exertion from fighting monsters, which he replenished later, there was also the mental exhaustion he had just experienced after finishing the meeting.
Suddenly, he felt a bit tired and wanted to lie down, but unfortunately, the person in front of him who said he would train his physical fitness was none other than his city will, Lord Starfall.
Lord Starfall was dissatisfied with his performance in this battle, which is why he came to train him. So, Lord Starfall has something to say about him, right? Ethan suddenly felt an awkward urge, which was hard to describe.
It was a feeling similar to embarrassment, shame, the awkwardness of having your secrets discovered by your parents during adolescence, and having your mind filled with thoughts of why Xingyun hadn't said anything and had been secretly watching the battle.
Wait, I almost forgot again, he's a Guardian. It's perfectly normal for the city's will to test the strength of its Guardians. If it discovers any flaws in its Guardians, it should correct them promptly, rather than ignoring them. In the future, at some point, those flaws might even become fatal weaknesses that kill.
Calm down, Ethan. So what if Lord Starfall watched you fight a monster? It's nothing.
No, he really couldn't stay calm at all. How did he fight monsters back then? It seems like he conjured up weapons and stabbed around randomly, without any tactics whatsoever, and he even made a mess of blood everywhere.
Ethan felt increasingly hopeless and secretly glanced at Starfall.
"Warm yourself up first," Starfall said, looking at him.
Ethan looked at him, and Starfall looked back, as if he had thought of something, and hesitated: "I won't demonstrate the warm-up for you, at most I'll give you some pointers."
That's not what I meant!
Ethan slowly moved all his joints, and Starfall frowned more and more as he watched, unable to resist stopping Ethan's warm-up.
“Your movements are very stiff,” Starfall pointed out the problem she had just discovered in Ethan. “Try doing some more difficult moves to loosen up your body.”
Huh... Him? He's never done it before. Ethan can imagine how painful it must have been.
Ethan tried to stand up and then bend backward, supporting himself with his hands on the ground. Fortunately, it wasn't too difficult. Ethan then tried a split, which hurt so much that he almost jumped up with a scream.
But Ethan didn't jump up. He even gritted his teeth and refused to let out a single cry of pain. The pain traveled from the nerves in his legs to his brain, causing fine beads of sweat to appear on his forehead and his body to tremble slightly.
Starfall gave him a strange look, unable to understand Ethan's reaction. He also tried to do a split, and then stood up smoothly.
Does it hurt? Xingyun tried doing the splits and it didn't hurt at all, but Ethan did? Does it really hurt?
Starfall, whose body is different from ordinary people, cannot empathize with Ethan, who is trying the splits for the first time, because his body is so flexible and strong that he does not feel any discomfort at all and finishes it with ease.
Starfall told Ethan to get up. Ethan thought it was over and breathed a sigh of relief, but when he heard Starfall ask him to jump up and do two somersaults in the air, he realized that he hadn't relaxed enough.
Ethan looked miserable and jumped up and down on the spot.
Starfall: "?"
Ethan: "..."
Ethan started trying to jump, then tumbled in the air, and unsurprisingly fell several times, always landing face down. After falling several times, he was able to barely stand on his feet when he fell.
Starfall: "..." Are you kidding me?
Ethan didn't stop for a moment. After failing more than ten times, he was able to do a somersault in the air. His hair was messy as if it had been blown by a strong wind. Starfall watched him fall into a long silence.
What to do if your child is too incompetent? I don't know. Judging from the way they seem to want to spoil you, what should I do? Their theory is pretty good, but how come their practical skills are so terrible?
Starfall watched as Ethan did dozens of flips, eventually mastering two perfect flips in the air, before stopping and waiting for Starfall's next request.
“…Never mind.” Xingyun couldn’t bear to look at him: “You can learn the warm-up exercises later. You have to learn yoga. Your movements are still very stiff. Let’s do some practice now.”
Huh? He attacked Lord Xingyun? Really?
Although he knew he would be defeated soon, Ethan still assumed a fighting stance, mentally preparing the spell he would quickly cast to see if he could inflict any damage on Starfall.
Starfall maintained his usual calm demeanor, emboldening Ethan to attack him with any means necessary.
Ethan went up excitedly, hoping to leave a wound on Starfall.
Two seconds later, Ethan knelt down.
Starfall: "???"
Ethan was dazed: "???" What happened? What happened to him? How did he get beaten up so quickly?
The city's will and the guardian looked at each other, seeing the same bewilderment in each other. Neither of them expected that Ethan was so incompetent.
Ethan was completely bewildered. He had only just run towards Starfall, hadn't even used any magic, and hadn't even gotten within a meter of Starfall when he was somehow knocked down by Starfall. He hadn't even seen what magic Starfall used before he was already on the ground.
Starfall was also confused. Someone approached him and he subconsciously threw a spell. Ethan was hit by the spell, fell against the wall, and sat up while scratching his head.
But did he exert much effort? Not even 0.01% of his strength, right?
Starfall thought Ethan was too weak, possessing only theoretical knowledge. Even with theoretical knowledge, he could only use magic to create weapons to perform acupuncture on monsters; without it, he'd be instantly defeated.
How could that be? If Ethan were to lose his magic for some unforeseen reason, he would be the first Guardian to die—meaning he would be gone forever. The other Guardians possess wisdom, strength, and technology.
So Starfall suppressed his power much more and made Ethan start over, saying that he had already suppressed his power and that he should just throw any killing moves at him.
Ethan believed him and happily rushed over again.
Two seconds later, Ethan knelt down again.
Xingyun: “…”
Ethan: “???”
Starfall, suspicious, suppressed even more power, and Ethan, suspicious, started again.
Ethan rushed toward the meteor shower, constantly changing his position, narrowly dodging the meteor shower's magic twice, before being blasted away by the magic five meters away and crashing into the wall.
Starfall had thoughtfully cast a spell on the wall, preventing it from suffering any major impact. Ethan, questioning his existence, climbed down from the wall.
It wasn't until this time that Ethan realized the meteor shower that had sent him flying was actually magic. Such powerful magic! It felt like Ethan's internal organs were about to shift. He wondered what kind of magic it was and when he could learn it.
Ethan asked whatever came to mind, and Starfall was not stingy in answering his questions; he couldn't wait for Ethan to become powerful overnight.
"Magic?" Starfall answered him in confusion, "You've learned it, right? It's basic magic that can knock people back a bit. It's the kind of magic you learned before you learned teleportation. Don't you know it?"
"This magic is that knockback magic?" Ethan was genuinely stunned. Was he kidding? Was Lord Starfall teasing him? No, Lord Starfall wouldn't tease anyone.
Ethan remembered that when he was learning the knockback magic, the book said that it could knock people back up to five meters away. He thought that he had practiced for so long and that five meters should be his limit. He didn't expect that it was just that everyone's limit was not Starfall's.
Every time Starfall's magic hit Ethan, it sent him flying dozens of meters away. If the distance between the two locations hadn't been less than fifty meters, Ethan would have believed he would have been sent flying fifty meters away.
This is terrifying! Is this the power of Lord Starfall? Ethan could only manage to make the enemy stagger back a few meters, just like everyone else. He couldn't even imagine being sent flying that far.
Ethan was once again awestruck by the power of Starfall. Although he knew that Starfall was powerful, there was a difference between knowing and seeing it with his own eyes. He now had a vague concept of Starfall's power.
Filled with admiration, Ethan rose again and again, charging towards Starfall, still trying to leave a wound on Starfall to prove himself, only to be knocked down time and time again.
After being knocked away time and again, Ethan didn't dwell on doubting himself, because his mind was too numb to entertain any further thoughts. He simply kept getting up, only to be knocked down again, his mind filled with only one thought—at least he could encounter Lord Starfall; leaving wounds was no longer an option.
Ethan grew more and more enthusiastic as he was beaten. If he had initially thought he could tell Starfall he couldn't do it, that was just wishful thinking. Now, he had no intention of giving up and wanted to try to see if he could successfully encounter Starfall.
This was a unique kind of obsession. Starfall didn't notice it; he only saw Ethan being knocked away by his knockback magic time and time again, then getting up again, his eyes flashing with emotions he couldn't understand, excitement mixed with fighting spirit.
Xingyun felt this scene looked familiar, as if he had seen it on Yangyan before. Wait, he couldn't combine the two, that would be too bad. How could Ethan be like that blond bastard Yangyan?
Starfall felt a chill run down his spine at his own association, and as he looked at Ethan, who had been sent flying, he began to doubt his own ability to suppress his strength on multiple occasions.
Starfall no longer doubted Ethan, but instead began to doubt himself.
-----------------------
Author's Note: Even though Xingyun is incredibly strong, he's still very powerful despite suppressing him several times. If he doesn't suppress Xingyun, he'll have to save Ethan again and find materials to make a body.
I still have a headache after cupping therapy, haha, is it going to haunt me for the rest of my life?
During holidays, I just can't help but feel lazy and love to lie down.
Mini-theater:
Ethan passed by Starfall looking at a parenting book, specifically for two or three-year-olds. He thought it was a quirk Starfall had that no one knew about. Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly remembered Starfall's strange behavior in the past and decided to borrow it to take a look. The words looked so familiar, haha.
Ethan watched as Starfall pretended to be nonchalant, and silently changed the book to one about getting along with teenagers.
Can any readers who want to leave a comment say something? Let me see how many people are reading this story [shy]. I'll just type it in the next chapter.
