Chapter 59 World B: 4 When Ethan woke up the next day...
When Ethan woke up the next day, Tenas was already up and making breakfast in the kitchen. The enticing aroma overpowered his nostrils, constantly tempting him.
Several plates of breakfast were already laid out on the table.
"Good morning, Ethan." Tenas heard footsteps and turned around. He was as enthusiastic as ever today: "I made breakfast, enough for several people, so you can eat as much as you want—but remember not to swallow it."
Because of Ethan's series of feigned crying, pitiful acts, and cute behavior yesterday, Ethan's image of him has been fixed. Seeing him being so considerate, it feels like he can really see the shadow of Turner.
Oh, right, this is the Turner isotope.
That's not important. What's important is—
"Why did you cut your hair?" Ethan asked, somewhat surprised.
That's right, Tenas got a haircut. His long hair, which used to reach his waist, was cut down to almost his collarbone, and there were several band-aids on his neck.
"Oh, this?" Tenas touched the ends of his hair, seemingly unconcerned. "My hair was still wet late last night, so I thought I should get a haircut. This length will allow it to grow for a long time."
"And what about yours?" Ethan asked, pointing to his bandage, "You're injured here?"
Strange, did he go out into battle yesterday? Was he injured again? Why haven't I heard anything about it?
"Oh, this?" Tenas seemed to just remember, peeling off one of the bandages to reveal a red mark, his tone tinged with complaint: "I forgot to close the window last night, and mosquitoes bit me. I got so many bites, look, I have some on my arm too."
As he spoke, he rolled up his long sleeves, revealing his strong arms, and pointed to several bulges that had not yet completely subsided.
"Oh, I see!" Ethan suddenly realized. He had thought Tenas was injured somewhere, but it turned out he had just forgotten to close the window and got bitten by a mosquito, so he had to put on a band-aid.
The aroma was so enticing that Ethan didn't hesitate any longer and buried himself in his food, his mouth glistening with moisture.
To be honest, Tenas made a lot of breakfasts. Even Ethan himself didn't expect that he would eat so much. Although his stomach was empty, he didn't feel so uncomfortable. The taste of bacon lingered in his mouth for a long time.
Tenas sat opposite him with a smile, resting her chin on her hand as she watched him finish resolving everything.
At first, Ethan wanted to give him a few plates, but Tenas said he had already eaten and told Ethan to eat as much as he wanted, as these were just to satisfy his appetite.
After breakfast, the two of them had nothing to do, so Tenas asked him if he wanted to go out and have some fun. After all, there might be differences between the two worlds, and this feeling would be novel.
Ethan, who is still a bit socially awkward, initially thought that staying at home was the best option. However, after hearing Tenas's second half of the sentence, he realized that it made sense. The two timelines might be a little different, so maybe he could go out and take a look.
So for the next few days, Tenas took Ethan on a tour of several nearby cities, and the two of them had a great time, quickly growing closer.
Ethan put those ridiculous glasses with fake noses and mustaches on Tenas. Not to be outdone, Tenas brought over several staff members dressed as mascots to interact with him. Under everyone's gaze, Ethan's face turned bright red. He wanted to run away but was pulled back by the cheerful Tenas. He wanted to find a crack in the ground to crawl into.
In the end, Ethan couldn't take it anymore and begged for mercy. Only then did Tenas take pity on him and let the staff disperse, laughing heartily at the disheveled Ethan.
Time flew by, and it was already the third day since Ethan came into this world. He arrived at around midnight.
In short, Tenas announced at the dinner table that Ehtan could be found, and Ethan just needed to go to the address.
Has Ehtan finally finished his side job and has some free time? Ethan was pleasantly surprised and prepared to head straight to Ehtan's place.
Tenas stopped him, saying that he was not well received by the other party and needed to bring something to let him know that he was seeing him through his channel.
Upon hearing this, Ethan indeed stopped moving and obediently waited for Tenas's things.
“He’ll know once you give him this note.” Tenas gave Ehtan a string of coordinates and handed him a neatly folded note. Tenas then winked at Ehtan, radiating charm at all times: “Don’t open it until you see him, okay? Make sure little Ehtan opens it himself. It’s some things I want to say to him, and when you see him, remember to remind him to remove me from his blacklist.”
Ethan nodded. He wouldn't invade other people's privacy casually. Isn't not invading other people's privacy as simple as breathing? Don't worry, he promised.
Ethan opened a portal, connected to the coordinates Tenas had just given him, and prepared to leave.
"Bye-bye—" Tenas waved behind Ethan, smiling as he watched Ethan step into the portal. The portal closed quickly less than a few seconds after he entered.
Ethan was teleported to a corridor.
The houses here look quite large, and there are quite a few corners. Ethan seems to be a bit lost, wandering around like a headless fly, unable to find the right place.
I feel like I passed this corner about five minutes ago... Wait, why is there a mark he left at the next corner? Oh dear, why does this other corner look so familiar?
"Won't he just keep going in circles?" Ethan thought sadly.
Oh no, how come I never realized I had no sense of direction before? No, that's not my fault, I've never had a bad sense of direction before.
It seems that in this place, all the corridors and corners are set up too similarly, and they are connected to each other by more than one path, allowing him to return to the corridor he initially arrived at. This makes it even more difficult for him to determine his direction.
Moreover, he doesn't know the layout of this place, so it's normal for him to get lost. Therefore, he shouldn't doubt himself; self-doubt is not a good habit.
but……
Ethan walked back to the corner he had marked, and broke down in tears.
Still lost, can't find the way... Someone help him! Where are you, my counterpart?
Could you suddenly appear in front of him, learn that he is his counterpart, accept this setting, and then take him away from here?
This isn't meant to deceive him, but some people may not believe in the parallel universe theory.
Suddenly, as they rounded another corner, Ethan's alarm bells went off, and he quickly jumped away from where he stood.
The sound of a heavy object hitting the ground stirred up a cloud of smoke, and only the faint outline of where he had just stood could be seen, revealing a figure standing solemnly.
Hey, hey, hey, you're in the hallway, not outside! Oh wait, this isn't dust from sand, and it's not smoke coming from somewhere. Did someone throw this?
As the smoke gradually dissipated, a tall man stood there, squinting at him.
The man's face was covered with large patches of burn marks, it was hard to tell if they were from scalds or burns. 80% of his face was covered in a terrifying dark red color. His face was covered with gauze, and his neck was wrapped in bandages several times. His lips were tightly pursed.
As if he had seen something unexpected, his eyes widened slightly and then narrowed again, his killing intent almost materializing.
"Damn it..." The man's expression was terrible, and his words were hoarse and harsh: "He actually went this far? I really underestimated his nerves."
He muttered to himself, his hands moving non-stop, pulling out a dagger from somewhere.
A flash of cold light, the sharp dagger reflecting the man's indifferent eyes, the man gripped the dagger tightly and attacked Ethan.
The man's attack was so fast and ruthless that even though Ethan had prepared, he was still shocked by his speed.
Ethan leaned back, dodging the man's attack aimed directly at his most vulnerable spot, his temple.
She sidestepped the man's merciless kick, and because she dodged in time, the man's kick hit the wall, leaving a crack the size of a football.
Ethan broke out in a cold sweat; he couldn't afford to get hurt so easily.
Now that Lord Starfall has disappeared, he can no longer rely on Lord Starfall to repair his body. He can only barely pause and make his injuries less severe, but he cannot be completely healed.
Because his body was maintained by Lord Starfall's alchemy, which was extremely unfortunate, as alchemy was a discipline he could never fully comprehend.
Despite his diligence, he still couldn't match the abilities that Master Xingyun had acquired and learned over the years; it was his worst subject.
So getting killed would be very troublesome, since you don't even know the identity of the werewolf on the other side, even though the other side showed hostility from the beginning.
However, Ethan felt a strange sense of familiarity when he looked at the man.
How strange, where exactly is it?
Ethan easily dodged the man's attacks while deep in thought.
Seeing that he couldn't hurt him for a while, the man's eyes were practically spitting fire, and he wished he could kill him on the spot.
When Ethan met those eyes, he shuddered, his mind went blank, and he was filled with confusion.
So after dodging another attack, he did not immediately change position, but instead allowed the opponent's dagger to be pressed against his vulnerable throat.
Seeing his unusual behavior, the man didn't forcefully stab him through the heart; he just watched him cautiously.
"Ehtan." Ethan's mouth moved, and it took him a long time to squeeze out the awkward name.
The man's expression didn't change, but he moved the dagger slightly, and Ethan could feel a growing pain coming from it as he spoke.
"I am Ethan Nix." Ethan introduced himself with mixed feelings: "I come from another world and am your counterpart. For some reason, the will of all the cities in our world disappeared. For this reason, I and some other guardians began time travel to different worlds to borrow power."
To everyone's surprise, Ehtan, whose face was already pale, looked even worse after hearing this: "You're a Guardian?"
He reached for his neck, but Ethan quickly used magic to restrain his hand. He was even more shocked and incredulous than Ehtan: "You're not a Guardian? But Tenas clearly said..."
“Tenas?” Ehtan stopped trying to pull his hand away from the materialized magic, his eyes burning with fury. “You mean Tenas Winter?”
Ethan nodded frantically, but Ethan sneered.
“Whether you are truly my counterpart as you claim, you seem to have misunderstood something.” Ethan’s smile was utterly sarcastic: “You’ve been misled by him.”
"How could that be?" Ethan recalled the past few days. Although Tenas liked to act cute, cry, and play the victim, he was actually a very warm person. Although he had a slightly wicked sense of humor, he seemed like a nice person. "Aren't you friends?"
“Friends?” Ehtan sneered again. “I don’t have that kind of friend.”
"Is there some misunderstanding?" Ethan recalled the misunderstanding Tenas had mentioned at the beginning, how his relationship with Ehtan had reached a freezing point when he was a teenager. "Maybe we can sit down and talk it over. Perhaps there really is a misunderstanding that neither of you is aware of? Can we sit down and have a proper discussion?"
"It's pointless. There's no need for any talk. What did he say to you?" Ehtan's attitude was firm, and he gave a highly sarcastic smile. "Do you know what he did? I don't need friends who would kill the people around me. Do you know that? He killed Bertha."
Ethan's eyes widened.

Best Friend *Special Limited Edition: Turning Against Each Other*
Morrison was actually mentioned briefly earlier; he was the temperamental healer who never appeared in the story. In this world, there is no longer any temperamental side [his sharp edges have been smoothed out].
Who is that lady I mentioned being close to in the previous chapter? [doge] Who else among the Guardians is on good terms with Tenas? Choose one.
If you don't understand, feel free to ask. I've finally gotten to this point. I've already posted my usual "slacking off" post here.
Ethan, you've been tricked! [crying emoji]
I took photos with my roommates today, but I still haven't reviewed anything.
I felt more satisfied when Tenas's identity was revealed than when Ethan's was revealed in the previous volume [shy].
