Chapter 1, Part 1: "Let her come up."

Chapter 1, Part 1: "Let her come up."

Ning Wanwan time-traveled.

She was standing on the side of the road, surrounded by silence. The road was pitch black, as if some predatory beasts were lurking in the darkness.

The dim light from the streetlights illuminated a small patch of ground ahead.

[Ding—Congratulations! You've been given another chance!]

[You are now in a male-oriented novel featuring a protagonist who is overpowered by a dragon. Complete the tasks as instructed, and you will be reborn in your original world!]

A flood of information rushed into her mind. After a moment of stunned silence, Ning Wanwan began to organize the plot of the world she was in.

She transmigrated into a male-oriented novel with a high-risk, power-leveling theme. The protagonist, a seemingly ordinary and arrogant man, rose from humble beginnings to become a god, ultimately standing on the throne of a god amidst the upheaval of spiritual energy and the resulting upheaval.

As for Ning Wanwan herself, she was a cannon fodder character who died tragically in the early stages. She had no family background, no connections, no talent, and no ability. She was a minor character whose death wouldn't elicit any sighs from the readers.

Ning Wanwan was aware of her own abilities. Even if she were to transmigrate into this world now, she didn't think she could change her tragic fate.

[Don't worry too much, we're giving you a cheat code gift pack right now! Just click the lottery button to draw your most important cheat code in this world!]

"Draw a prize," Ning Wanwan blinked slowly.

Having just transmigrated, my body still feels a bit weak and unsteady, and my senses are dulled, as if there's a thin film separating me from my surroundings, creating a strange sense of unreality.

[Oh right, it's a lucky draw, and as a welcome bonus for new users, we'll give you an option with increased odds!]

[You can choose your preferred cheat code, and we'll help you increase your chances of winning. Statistics show a success rate as high as 99.99%!]

That's practically 100%! Ning Wanwan's eyes lit up slightly.

The system had already explained everything else to her before, and she had accepted this bizarre time travel.

What interests her most right now is the lottery.

"I'd like to see what kind of cheat codes are available first, is that okay?" Ning Wanwan asked softly.

Of course you can. Remember to carefully choose the cheat codes that increase your chances of getting them, because whichever cheat code you get will be your only asset in this high-risk world.

Ning Wanwan pursed her lips: "I know."

She chose the "get rich overnight" magic formula.

[Have you thought this through? Although things are normal now, once the world undergoes a major upheaval, the usefulness of money will be greatly reduced.]

The system was somewhat taken aback and couldn't help but try to dissuade them.

Ning Wanwan hesitated for a moment, then her eyes gradually hardened: "I've thought it through."

She carefully examined the other cheat codes, but due to their limitations, they were not very reliable and were not as useful as the "get rich overnight" description.

Furthermore, the limited use of money is primarily for those at the very top of the pyramid, such as the main characters and the main villains. However, for ordinary people who haven't yet entered the extraordinary world, money is likely still the most commonly used currency.

Moreover, she had already planned to spend money to buy some extraordinary resources before many people realized what was happening...

[Okay, the odds of winning the "Get Rich Overnight" prize have been increased to 99.99%! Please draw your prize as soon as possible!]

Ning Wanwan's forehead was covered in a fine sweat: "Draw it now."

The floating sensation she felt when she first transmigrated was fading, and her physical sensations were becoming clearer. The original owner hadn't eaten all day, and now her stomach was empty, with an almost painful hunger surging in like a tide.

[Ding—Congratulations! You've won a one-night stand...love at first sight!]

The system's inorganic mechanical sound suddenly rose in pitch, as if it were utterly incredulous.

Ning Wanwan: "What?"

She suddenly had a bad feeling.

You, you've drawn the "love at first sight" cheat code...

Ning Wanwan: "..."

The system awkwardly uttered nonsense that even it didn't believe: "They're all from the 'One' generation, so there shouldn't be much difference..."

Ning Wanwan: "...The agreed probability is 99.99%"

She just happened to run into that 0.01% chance, right?

The system is also going crazy.

[I just checked and this "love at first sight" cheat is completely useless; it only works on people with romantic fantasies. How many people in this novel are even that crazy?!]

[...99.99% probability...and it still went wrong...]

The system muttered its wails and was still not recovered.

My stomach hurts so much, I'm so hungry and uncomfortable... Ning Wanwan clutched her stomach, slowly squatted down, and tried to curl up to relieve the intense hunger.

The incessant chatter of the system in my head was incredibly annoying.

"Can we have some peace and quiet...?"

The system only then noticed the new host's condition and immediately stopped its rambling.

【Host, what's wrong with you?!】

"I'm so hungry..." Ning Wanwan felt weak all over, her legs were trembling, and she took a few steps back when she saw car lights flashing in the distance.

Whether or not to stop the car is another matter. Very few vehicles pass by here, and it has been so long since she encountered this one. She feels like she is starving and has no strength to walk.

But when it came to actually stopping cars for help, Ning Wanwan hesitated.

Because she is... severely socially anxious.

Ning Wanwan remembered something, opened the bag she was carrying, her hands trembling slightly from hunger.

If I have food in my bag, I won't stop the car for now; I'll see if I can walk away on my own.

Being tired is okay! But for someone with severe social anxiety like me, it's just too difficult to flag down a car and ask for a ride all by myself!

The bag she was carrying was a small, delicate crossbody bag, designed primarily for its attractive appearance, but it couldn't hold much.

Ning Wanwan rummaged around inside for a long time, only finding some lipsticks, foundations, small mirrors, and cell phones. There wasn't a trace of anything edible.

Oh right, there was also a crumpled mask stuffed in a compartment of the bag, probably something I forgot to throw away.

After struggling and hesitating for a while, Ning Wanwan picked up the mask and put it on, her eyes showing a look of fearlessness.

"We have no choice but to flag down a car."

We have to stop them, or they'll starve to death on this main road.

The mask that covered most of her face at least gave Ning Wanwan some sense of security.

As the car lights drew closer, just as she was about to take a few steps forward, she accidentally stepped on a patch of weeds by the roadside. A small shadow, resembling some kind of flying insect, suddenly flew up and landed on her face.

What is it?

Ning Wanwan subconsciously closed her eyes and waved her arms. Her already weak body became even more dizzy and she staggered.

When she came to her senses, she was already sitting on the ground. The car was parked in front of her, and the bright headlights were so close that she couldn't help but squint. Her mind was a mess.

She... seems to have... staged an accident for someone else.

Assistant Li never expected that simply reporting work to his boss in the car, as usual, would lead to him being targeted by a staged accident scam.

However, if you're trying to extort money, you've picked the wrong person.

"Mr. Jiang, someone is lying in front of our car, but we are certain that we did not hit them."

As expected, the man in the back seat, who was looking down at the documents, didn't even lift his eyelids and said indifferently, "Go and handle it."

"Yes, Mr. Jiang." Assistant Li got out of the car, already having decided how to treat this guy who dared to stage an accident with a cold and ruthless attitude.

He wasn't too worried about the other party harassing him, knowing that the Jiang Group's legal team was no pushover.

"Hello, do you know that extortion involves..."

Then he saw a slender little girl cowering in front of the car, slowly trying to stand up, her hands still rubbing her eyes vigorously.

Seeing the forceful gesture, Assistant Li swallowed his previous cold and ruthless words and couldn't help but ask a question.

What happened to your eyes?

Ning Wanwan lowered her hand. Her face was covered by a mask, revealing only a pair of eyes that were rubbed red.

"Excuse me, I think I got a moth in my eye, so I just fell down there..."

Oh, so he wasn't trying to stage an accident after all. Assistant Li thought to himself.

That's good, there's no need to say those things before, otherwise it would feel like we're bullying a little girl.

“It’s so dark, it’s dangerous for you to stand on the main road.” Assistant Li’s tone softened, he gave a few words of advice, and then tried to get into the car, thinking that the matter was over.

But then they heard the other person ask in a low, nervous voice.

"Excuse me, could you give me a ride if you're going the same way?"

Assistant Li paused for a moment, somewhat embarrassed, since his boss was still in the car, and this was not a decision he could make.

However, seeing how pitiful the little girl looked, and knowing it wasn't safe for her to be alone in such a remote place, the kind-hearted assistant Li decided to try asking the boss.

"I'll go ask the boss. You can wait here for a moment."

"Okay, okay." Ning Wanwan nodded quickly, stood obediently in place, and followed Assistant Li with expectant eyes, thus getting a clear look at the car.

I didn't look closely before, but now I realize that this black luxury car is the kind of car that belongs to a low-key, luxurious CEO.

Ning Wanwan was too embarrassed to look any longer, glancing at him a few times before lowering her gaze again.

Assistant Li returned to the car: "Mr. Jiang, it's all settled. The other party wasn't trying to scam us, but..."

Jiang Yuyuan: "Hmm"

The man's gaze was indifferent, yet it carried an indescribable sense of oppression.

Assistant Li became increasingly cautious in her wording: "The other person is a girl. She probably can't get home this late and wants to hitch a ride."

After thinking for a moment, he added, "They should still be in high school; their school uniform looks like that of A High School."

Jiang Yuyuan's eyes flickered slightly.

Is it A?

But he did not intend to agree.

Just then, the girl waiting outside the car window moved and glanced at him quickly, as if wondering why Assistant Li hadn't come out yet. However, she couldn't see the situation inside the car through the window.

Jiang Yuyuan caught a glimpse of those anxious eyes.

He paused slightly, and the words he was about to utter turned into—

"Let her come up."

A note from the author:

----------------------

A rehabilitation attempt! Sending love to everyone!

Let me preface this by saying that this is an extremely Mary Sue-esque light novel! There's hardly any plot, the female lead is extremely socially awkward and timid, and the progress is basically entirely driven by other characters. It's a melodramatic, Mary Sue, and universally adored light novel. If you don't like this type of story, please don't force yourself to read it!

Let me reiterate here that this article is a work created by a working professional author to satisfy their personal urges by writing for a few hours after get off work each day. The first few tens of thousands of words of free content should give you a sense of the style. You don't need to inform me if you drop the article, and I politely decline any writing advice.

Here's a shout-out to my upcoming novel: "A Salted Fish Becomes a Heartthrob in the Dragon-Slaying Fantasy World." The synopsis is too long to post here, but you can find it at the top of my author page.
