Chapter 156 (First Release)...
"Wanwan, are you awake?" It was Ansel's voice from outside the door.
He actually came and knocked on the door too.
Ning Wanwan: "..." Just a second ago she said that no one would come again.
The slap in the face came too fast, like a tornado.
Hey, did you guys plan this all tonight or what? Why did you all come here at once?!
Ning Wanwan glanced at the wardrobe subconsciously. The wardrobe wasn't very big, and it was obvious that it couldn't hide two adult men and a child at the back. As the one who came later, Xiao Zhou's half of his body was exposed, making him very conspicuous.
Ning Wanwan pursed her lips, about to say something, when she saw Xiaozhou nod at her, as if to tell her not to worry.
Ning Wanwan's eyes lit up: Could it be that Xiao Zhou has already realized that everyone doesn't need to hide like this, which is just making things seem obvious?
Then she saw Xiao Zhou, her face expressionless, hide under the bed.
Ning Wanwan: "..."
Ning Wanwan watched as his small body moved and hid herself completely under the bed, and she was even more speechless. She felt that this scene was too outrageous and she could not understand it.
What are you all hiding from?!
Why are they all so consciously posing as if they've been caught in the act?!
"Is Wanwan still asleep?" The knocking on the door stopped, and Ansel's muttering could be faintly heard.
Ning Wanwan really didn't want to open the door.
But after thinking it over, I decided that rather than going through that again later, it would be better to deal with Ansel now.
Moreover, although these guys in the room were acting strangely, they did hide well and didn't come out when others came.
So... there shouldn't be any surprises, right?
Thinking of this, Ning Wanwan still reluctantly opened the door.
Then she saw a blond, purple-eyed boy standing smiling at the door.
"Wanwan, you're awake." Ansel blinked, a little annoyed, and asked, "Did I wake you?"
Ning Wanwan shook her head: "No."
Ansel's smile widened: "That's good."
Ansel didn't seem to have any intention of coming in, which secretly relieved Ning Wanwan.
“Ansel, you came to see me because…” Ning Wanwan looked at Ansel with a hint of doubt.
Ansel: "Ah, look at me, I almost forgot."
He held up the tray in his hands, his jewel-like purple eyes narrowed, and a smile graced his beautiful face: "I brought you this."
Ning Wanwan looked down at the tray in his hand, which was covered with a large lid, making it look very mysterious. You couldn't tell what was inside just by looking at the outside.
Ning Wanwan was even more puzzled: "What's in here?"
Ansel put a finger to his lips: "Anyway, it's something Wanwan really needs."
Ning Wanwan: ""
What she really needs
She doesn't need anything.
"Why don't you open it yourself, Wanwan?" Ansel gently pushed the tray towards Ning Wanwan.
Ning Wanwan had no idea what Ansel was up to, but Ansel's actions piqued her curiosity, so she reached out and lifted the lid of the tray.
Then she saw a cup on the tray.
The cup was filled with clear, colorless water.
I touched the cup with my finger; the temperature was just right, warm enough to drink right away.
Ning Wanwan: ""
What's going on?
Ning Wanwan looked left and right hesitantly, afraid that she might have missed something, but no matter how she looked, all she could see was that there was just an ordinary cup of warm water on the tray in front of her.
Ning Wanwan: "Ansil, is this... water?"
"certainly."
Ning Wanwan: "What I mean is, is this just a glass of water that we usually drink, the kind boiled in a kettle?"
“Of course.” Ansel looked at Ning Wanwan with amusement. “Otherwise, Wanwan, what did you think it was?”
Ning Wanwan: "But..."
But why is it a glass of water?
Ning Wanwan was still somewhat hesitant, but Ansel spoke again.
"Does Wanwan feel that after all this fuss and all this solemnity, all I've given you is a glass of water?"
Ning Wanwan nodded slowly: "Mmm..."
Ansel sighed heavily, a helpless and dissatisfied expression on his face.
"Actually, I mainly wanted to bring Wanwan some water, since she hasn't been drinking much water today."
Ning Wanwan stammered, "Thank you..."
She sensed that Ansel had something else to say.
As expected, Ansel continued.
"However, I do want to remind Wanwan of something."
"Some people seem to do a lot for you on the surface, but in reality, it's just something as trivial as asking you to drink hot water."
"Wanwan, you must not be fooled by such a small, insignificant kindness on the surface."
Ning Wanwan listened with utter confusion as Ansel inexplicably used "hot water literature" as an example to remind her, and then went on to say this in a roundabout way.
She gradually began to have a guess in her mind.
"Anseil, did you see it last night...?"
Otherwise, logically speaking, she wouldn't have been reminded of this by mentioning hot water so abruptly.
Ansel's smile faded slightly, but after a moment, it returned: "Yes, I saw it."
They saw some cunning individuals trying to use these small favors to steal his treasure.
Absolutely unforgivable.
Ning Wanwan pursed her lips, feeling a little uneasy.
Unexpectedly, not only Zhou Yanyao, but also Ansel saw him spending time with Qi Lin last night.
Unlike Zhou Yanyao, Ansel didn't even come out at the time. But if you were to say that Ansel didn't care, his current reaction doesn't seem to suggest that.
Ning Wanwan could sense that Ansel wasn't as happy as he appeared on the surface.
Noticing Ning Wanwan's panic, Ansel smiled reassuringly at her: "It's okay, Wanwan, don't worry. I'm just annoyed by some flies that keep bothering us."
"I've been really unhappy lately because of those annoying flies."
As he spoke, his gaze seemed to casually drift towards the wardrobe.
Then, he leaned down and unintentionally moved closer and closer to Ning Wanwan, as if he was about to press his whole body against her.
Someone finally couldn't stand it anymore.
No sooner had he finished speaking than Zhou Yanyao stepped out, frowning, and said, "If you want to criticize Qi Lin, then focus on criticizing him. Why are you dragging us into this?"
Ansel wasn't surprised at all when he saw a man emerge from Ning Wanwan's room, and he gave Zhou Yanyao a cold laugh.
Not only Zhou Yanyao, but Qi Lin also came out.
Compared to Zhou Yanyao's uninhibited display of emotion, Qi Lin was much more reserved, but his dark eyes still glanced at Ansel with a deep and unsettling look.
Then, Qi Lin suddenly curled his lips, but the words were spoken to Zhou Yanyao.
“Ansel is right,” Qi Lin said. “Everyone is thinking the same thing, so what difference does it make whether we bring it or not?”
Zhou Yanyao pursed his lips, chuckled sarcastically, and then said nothing more.
Ansel laughed as well: "At least you have self-awareness."
Qi Lin remained noncommittal: "We certainly have self-awareness; it's you who lacks it."
Ansel raised an eyebrow, seemingly unconcerned: "Oh, it seems you have a problem with that."
Qi Lin simply said, "Do you want to keep her confined to your own territory, so that no one but you can see her?"
Ansel's smile slowly faded, and he stared at him expressionlessly.
The atmosphere was tense, like there was gunpowder in the air, ready to explode at the slightest spark.
Ning Wanwan had been standing there blankly, completely bewildered by this development, her head throbbing. She knew she couldn't just stand by and watch.
But how can we interrupt this conversation?
Ning Wanwan's brain spun for a moment, and then a small light bulb suddenly lit up above her head.
She suddenly grabbed the cup from the tray in Ansel's hand and gulped down the entire cup of water in one go.
It's practically like poisoning yourself.
The girl's actions drew everyone's attention.
After finishing her drink, Ning Wanwan couldn't help but burp.
Oh no, I drank it too fast.
Luckily they probably didn't see it... right?
Then, she slammed the cup back onto the tray with a sharp "smack".
Ning Wanwan raised her hand and wiped the water off her lips haphazardly with the back of her hand, keeping her head down and not looking at anyone.
She said in a muffled voice, "The water is finished, you can leave now."
Zhou Yanyao, Qi Lin, and Ansel: "..."
Ning Wanwan bit her lip, kept her head down and didn't look at anyone, and forcefully pushed the three people who were still blocking the doorway out.
Fortunately, everyone was pushed out the door by her force, and the embarrassing situation of not being able to push Ning Wanwan away no matter how hard she tried did not occur.
"Wanwan, don't be angry...you should get some rest." Zhou Yanyao apologized to Ning Wanwan as he was about to be pushed out the door.
Ning Wanwan paused for a moment, nodded quickly and slightly, and then slammed the door shut.
Looking at the quiet room, she breathed a sigh of relief, lay down on the bed, and covered her head with the blanket.
"Finally some peace and quiet..."
"Ning Wanwan, you'll have trouble breathing like that."
Just as Ning Wanwan was burying her head under the covers and letting her mind wander, a clear, youthful voice rang out from very close by, through the blanket.
Ning Wanwan: "!!"
She was startled, then suddenly threw back the covers and met a pair of familiar, inorganic, silver-gray eyes.
Ning Wanwan: "Little boat... hiss..."
I completely forgot that Xiao Zhou was still in the room!
Previously, Zhou Yanyao and Qi Lin all stopped hiding, only Xiao Zhou was still obediently hiding, and then...
"Ning Wanwan, is the game of hide-and-seek over?" Xiao Zhou tilted his head slightly, watching her.
Ning Wanwan: "Uh... I guess it's over."
Ning Wanwan didn't know what to say. She sighed softly, got up, and wanted to see Xiaozhou out of the room. "They've all left. Aren't you leaving?"
Xiao Zhou paused for a moment, then honestly shook her head, following her heart.
He didn't really want to leave.
Being alone with Ning Wanwan in a space, with no one else around who might be attached to her, was a rare experience for Xiao Zhou, so how could she possibly want to leave?
Ning Wanwan was puzzled: "Why don't you want to leave?"
Xiao Zhou nodded again.
Then, expressionless, he said to Ning Wanwan.
"Ning Wanwan, I'm scared."
