Chapter 10 On the Train (Part 1)

Chen Shuning's words froze Yang Wanqiu's already insincere smile on her face. However, being a drama queen, the stiffness only lasted a few seconds before she transformed into a pitiful expression.

Her voice trembled with tears, "Shuning, how could you say that? I... I volunteered to go to the countryside to support rural development. I was just a little scared because it was my first time going out alone. How could you say that to me?"

Because it's the starting station, the train stops for a long time. And since this train is a special train for educated youth, mostly teenagers, many people are still saying goodbye to their loved ones on the platform.

There weren't many people on the bus, but perhaps because Chen Shuning was sitting near the door, all the seats around her were full.

Therefore, after seeing Yang Wanqiu's seemingly innocent performance, many people began to defend her.

"Chen Shuning, how can you say that? It's normal for Wanqiu to be scared since it's everyone's first time going out. As her friend, how can you say that to her?"

Chen Shuning looked up at the boy who had spoken, and saw a single-eyelid boy who was less than 1.7 meters tall standing in the aisle.

Judging from his appearance, the boy had a very popular three-seven parted hairstyle and fair skin. Overall, apart from being short and having small eyes, he didn't have any other flaws. However, in Chen Shuning's eyes, he looked sleazy no matter how she looked at him.

Most importantly, Chen Shuning actually knew this person. His name was Zhou Guoqing, and he was also her and Yang Wanqiu's classmate.

This guy could be considered Yang Wanqiu's loyal sycophant. The two of them caused the original owner no shortage of trouble at school. Chen Shuning naturally wouldn't be polite to such a person, and naturally didn't need to give him any kind looks.

“You’re wrong, classmate. We’re here to support rural development in response to the call of our great leader. We should not be afraid of hardship and overcome difficulties. I believe that many of you here are leaving your families for the first time. If we all cry like this classmate, then we’re not here to support rural development but to cause trouble for our farmers.”

"I think this student is right. We are going to the countryside to build our country. How can we cry and whine before we even set off? I think this student's thinking is really problematic."

"Yes, yes, everyone is leaving home for the first time to go to such a far place. Why is she so spoiled, crying and acting like a capitalist's daughter?"

As more and more people boarded the bus, the voices condemning Yang Wanqiu grew louder after they learned what had happened.

Originally, they were all seventeen or eighteen years old, and most of them were leaving home for the first time, so they were all in a bad mood. Yang Wanqiu's actions made them miss home even before the train had departed. It's human nature to always blame others and think that they themselves are innocent, so they all turned their anger towards Yang Wanqiu and began to criticize her.

Yang Wanqiu, who had intended to use her tears to make things difficult for Chen Shuning, was caught in a dilemma, unsure whether to sit or stand. She harbored resentment in her heart but dared not show it on her face.

At the same time, he was curious about when Chen Shuning, who was originally simple and easy to bully, had become sharp-tongued. He couldn't help but wonder if Chen Shuning had also been reborn like him.

Regardless, this was clearly not the result Yang Wanqiu wanted, since this tactic had always been effective for her.

But she didn't realize that she used this trick on boys at school, and how many of the other female educated youth would fall for it?

As everyone's comments became increasingly outrageous, Yang Wanqiu could no longer keep up the act. She stopped crying and quickly put on a bewildered expression to explain, "Shuning, you know that's not what I meant. I know you're angry with me."

But you have to believe me, I really didn't tell anyone that you like Weiguo. And Weiguo and I are just ordinary neighbors, it's really not what you think. And you probably don't know, Weiguo is currently dating Shen Hongmei.

As Yang Wanqiu spoke, she lowered her head and twisted her clothes as if she were afraid, looking completely at a loss.

Her words successfully shifted everyone's attention from her own thoughts to the emotional entanglements among the group.

Amidst the gossipy gazes around him, Chen Shuning finally learned from the original owner's memories who this Brother Weiguo, whom Yang Wanqiu had mentioned, was.

Dong Weiguo was a classmate of Chen Shuning and Yang Wanqiu in the same school but different classes. Because he was tall and handsome and came from a good family, many girls in the school liked him.

The original owner was just a teenage girl in her adolescence, so naturally she liked the sunny, handsome, and well-off Dong Weiguo.

Moreover, Dong Weiguo's father and Chen's father were colleagues, and their families were old friends. They had a lot of contact with each other, so it's not surprising that the original owner fell in love with Dong Weiguo.

The original owner was naive and innocent, and considered Yang Wanqiu her best friend with whom she could confide everything. Naturally, she told this best friend her little secrets, but she never expected that this little secret between her and Yang Wanqiu would be spread around the school, causing the original owner to be afraid to go to school for a while.

Thinking of this, Chen Shuning's disgust for Yang Wanqiu increased even more. Moreover, at this point, she was naturally not foolish enough to admit that she had once liked that Wei Guo guy. Anyway, it wasn't her who liked that person, so no matter what, she wasn't lying.

Besides, even if she's making things up, she's not necessarily inferior to you, Yang Wanqiu, is she? Anyway, the train has already started moving, and no matter what she says, no one will get off to verify it.

Then Chen Shuning also put on a wronged look, bit her lower lip, and said on the verge of tears: "Wanqiu, you really disappointed me. Which of our classmates doesn't know that you didn't go to the countryside voluntarily? Your stepmother secretly signed you up for the countryside. Many people know that you made a big scene at the educated youth office because of this."
