Chapter 157 Awakening

For some reason, she quickly followed him inside. She didn't believe that someone as badly injured as He Chaoyang could wake him up by shouting a couple of times.

Of course, I, Chen Shuning, didn't care about any of that. Once I found out which ward He Chaoyang was in, I quickly ran towards the ward where Dean Zhang was standing.

Chen Shuning hadn't expected so many people to be standing in the ward, so he was stunned for a moment when he entered the room.

Then they saw He Chaoyang lying on the hospital bed, his chest wrapped in thick bandages, his face completely bloodless.

Chen Shuning had no room for anyone else and rushed straight to the hospital bed.

Chen Shuning looked at that familiar, handsome, and resolute face, which was now filled with haggardness.

She gently stroked the back of his hand, feeling his faint pulse, and tears welled up in her eyes.

"Brother He, wake up! I know you're strong, you can pull through, right?"

At this moment, Chen Shuning no longer saw anyone else. She knelt down in front of the hospital bed and tremblingly took He Chaoyang's hand.

She spoke softly, her voice trembling yet firm. "Brother He, do you remember you promised to take me to the movies before you left last time? You said it was a really good movie, but I accidentally forgot the name. Could you tell me again?"

By the way, Brother He, last time you said that the sponge cake I made was even better than the ones sold at the supply and marketing cooperative. I even said I would make it for you next time you come. Wake up, wake up and I'll make it for you, okay?

Brother He, you always take such good care of me and protect me. You said you would always love me and always be by my side; you can't break your promise!

Chen Shuning's voice choked with emotion. She paused for a moment, allowing herself to calm down slightly. Then she continued, "Brother He, do you know? You are the most important person in my life. What would I do without you?"

You can't just lie there and be lazy and ignore me. I still need you to come with me to catch rabbits in the mountains. You said that I would encounter danger every time I went up the mountain, so you told me not to go up the mountain by myself and to wait for you to come and come with me.

Brother He, we have a long future ahead of us, and many things we need to do together. You can't just lie there sleeping like this.

Chen Shuning held He Chaoyang's hand and gently stroked the back of his hand, then said, "Brother He, I know you're in a lot of pain right now. Liu Jian told me on the way that you were shot in the chest."

"It must hurt a lot, such a big, deep wound, it must hurt so much, but you must hang in there. Brother He, you're not alone. I'll always be by your side, helping you through this difficult time. Brother He, you don't want me to be too sad, right?"

Chen Shuning's voice was full of love and determination. She didn't even know what she was saying. All she knew at that moment was that she seemed to have so much to say to him.

I felt that the two of them usually joked around, but they rarely said things like that.

Seeing that once resolute face now so pale as he lay on the hospital bed, these words that he couldn't say before came out so smoothly.

Chen Shuning believed he could hear her words and feel her love. She would stay by his side until he woke up.

Time passed by, and the leaders sitting on the sofa in the ward and the doctor standing beside them all remained silent.

Someone brought Chen Shuning a chair and helped him sit down.

Chen Shuning sat down by He Chaoyang's bedside and gently took his hand.

Feeling that He Chaoyang's hands were a little cold, she used her own warm hands to hold his hands tightly, hoping to give him some warmth and strength.

Looking at He Chaoyang's tightly closed eyes, Chen Shuning kept talking, recounting every little detail of their time together, saying whatever came to mind.

At this moment, Chen Shuning had no idea what to expect. A doctor had just briefly explained He Chaoyang's condition to Chen Shuning, so Chen Shuning knew that He Chaoyang's condition was not good. However, Chen Shuning believed that he would wake up.

There are too many people in the ward right now. When there are no people around, she can try to feed He Chaoyang some spiritual spring water. She believes that as long as she is there, He Chaoyang should be fine.

She sat quietly by He Chaoyang's bedside, softly calling his name over and over again.

Although there were many people in the ward, it was so quiet that only Chen Shuning's voice could be heard.

Chen Shuning didn't know how long he had been talking, or what he had said.

It felt like an eternity had passed before He Chaoyang's eyes finally twitched slightly.

Chen Shuning, who had been watching He Chaoyang closely, excitedly shouted, "Doctor, doctor, come quickly and see, Brother He seems to have woken up."

Chen Shuning's shout excited everyone in the ward and they gathered around.

What we saw was He Chaoyang slowly opening his eyes. Having just regained consciousness, He Chaoyang ignored the doctors and nurses around him.

He turned to look at Chen Shuning, who was holding his hand, and smiled. Although he couldn't speak yet, he could feel Chen Shuning's warmth and love.

Seeing the doctor with a stethoscope approaching to examine He Chaoyang, Chen Shuning quickly stepped aside so the doctor could examine him properly.

Helpless, Chen Shuning was grabbed by He Chaoyang and wouldn't let go. She didn't dare to break free, for fear of aggravating He Chaoyang's wound.

The doctor knew that the person in front of him was highly valued by several leaders, so he didn't make any requests. He smiled at Chen Shuning and said, "No need, no need. You can just sit down. I'm just doing a simple check-up. It's nothing."
