Chapter 186 Going to Haishi

Now everyone was even more unrestrained, especially Xie Xiangdong, who went all out to get Chen Shuting drunk until she was completely unconscious.

Are you kidding me? Does Xie Xiangdong think the girl he's interested in can be bullied by this kind of scum?

Wang Qingmei, seeing Chen Shuting slumped on the table, had a sudden thought of using Chen Shuting's drunkenness as an excuse to keep her in the new house, but Xie Xiangdong stopped her.

You should know that his purpose in getting Chen Shuting drunk was to avenge Chen Shuning, not to upset her.

Xie Xiangdong squinted at Chen Tiewen and his wife and said, "You're my sister-in-law's uncle and aunt, right? How can you be so inconsiderate? The young couple is getting married today, and you're leaving them to be cared for by a drunkard? Is this how elders behave?"

He then pointed at Chen Shuting, who was lying unconscious on the table, and said with a disdainful look, "Is this your daughter? Please take good care of her when you get back. It's not good for a girl to be so fond of drinking."

"It's only because she ran into us guys, all upright gentlemen. If she'd run into those with bad intentions, she'd be so drunk, she wouldn't even know who to turn to if she got bullied!"

At this point, Xie Xiangdong seemed to remember something, glanced at Chen Shuting who was slumped on the table, and said with a malicious look, "By the way, you just said that you couldn't take care of her because she's so drunk, right? Then why don't you go back first, and we brothers will take care of this girl for you, how about that?"

Xie Xiangdong had been involved in the black market since he was fourteen, so although he grew up in a military compound, he always unconsciously exuded a bit of street smarts.

Coupled with his deliberately malicious demeanor and the unnatural ruthlessness he exuded, Chen Tiewen and his wife were so frightened that they trembled. They dared not entrust their daughter to his care.

The couple didn't dare utter another word. They hurriedly grabbed Chen Shuting and ran away as if a dog were chasing them.

They fled in a panic, not daring to stop and catch their breath until they reached the alleyway where Chen Shuning's house was located.

They were panting heavily from running, and Chen Shuting, who was being carried along, was suffering terribly.

Already feeling nauseous from the alcohol, she had barely managed to calm down by lying on the table. But after the bumpy ride, the moment Chen Tiewen and Wang Qingmei stopped, she couldn't hold it in any longer and vomited.

Unfortunately, she spat it all over Wang Qingmei, leaving the mother and daughter covered in filth.

Wang Qingmei was both angry and anxious, and slapped Chen Shuting on the shoulder several times before she calmed down.

She didn't particularly like this daughter to begin with, so she pushed her directly to Chen Tiewen, saying, "You carry her back yourself! What bad luck! This is a brand new dress I made, and this brat ruined it on the very first day she wore it."

"Useless thing. How come he couldn't even hook up with one of those high-ranking officials' children? And he's drunk as a wreck. He's utterly shameful."

After saying that, Wang Qingmei really left on her own, leaving behind a bewildered Chen Tiewen and a dazed Chen Shuting.

Chen Tiewen wasn't in much better shape either; after being pushed by Wang Qingmei, he was covered in the filth from Chen Shuting's body.

The pungent smell made Chen Tiewen, who was always very clean, reflexively push the person away. Chen Shuting, who couldn't even stand properly, fell to the ground.

And just as luck would have it, she fell right onto the puddle where she had just vomited.

Now look what happened! Originally, only the front of his clothes were dirty, but after this fall, he was covered in vomit from head to toe.

Chen Tiewen felt a wave of nausea upon seeing this and almost vomited as well.

Looking at Chen Shuting, who was covered in dirt, Chen Tiewen suddenly had an urge to do what Wang Qingmei did and just leave her there.

But she was his own daughter after all, and Chen Tiewen, who wasn't completely bad at heart, couldn't bear it in the end and had to endure the disgust and carry her all the way home.

The father and son's appearance certainly attracted a lot of attention along the way, especially on the stretch of road near their home, where many of the people were people they recognized. This made the father and son extremely embarrassed.

For a long time afterward, it became the topic of conversation among the neighbors.

Of course, none of this concerned Chen Shuning. After the wedding, she left the mess in the yard for He Chaoyang's friends to clean up, and the young couple simply packed their bags and went on a trip.

This was also the only request Chen Shuning made regarding the wedding.

It's already heartbreaking enough that she can't wear her wedding dress or the traditional Chinese dress she's been longing for. If she can't even have a honeymoon, then her once-in-a-lifetime wedding will be filled with too many regrets.

Fortunately, He Chaoyang hadn't taken many vacations in previous years, and this time it was for his wedding leave, so the military leaders were quite considerate of this older young man and gave him a long enough time.

The two decided to visit Haishi, since it was an international metropolis before liberation and is now incredibly expensive.

Thinking that he probably wouldn't have many opportunities to travel in the future, Chen Shuning decided to take this opportunity to buy a house there.

Even Chen Shuning herself didn't know why she was so obsessed with the house.

The two, who traveled in sleeper berths, did not suffer much during the journey, and the train arrived in Haishi a few days later.

Having received the news in advance, Chen Jianjun waited outside the train station early in the morning, his heart filled with anticipation and worry.

He looked forward to seeing his sister soon and checking on her, whom he hadn't seen for several years.

But he was also worried, wondering if his sister would remain taciturn and unsociable, and whether she and He Chaoyang were truly a good match. After all, he was a man who radiated charisma wherever he went, and he worried that his sister wouldn't be able to hold onto such a man.
