Chapter 191 Injured Again

However, the reality before him made him begin to doubt his faith.

He Chaoyang fell into deep thought.

He knew his wife was a sincere and kind person who wouldn't hurt him, but he couldn't explain what was happening before his eyes.

He began to re-examine his beliefs and values, and to consider whether there really were some inexplicable mysterious forces in the world.

He Chaoyang decided to stop asking his wife about her secrets.

He believed she would tell him at the appropriate time. At the same time, he decided to show her even more care and love, letting her feel his love and support.

He believed that one day his wife would be willing to believe him. Of course, it didn't matter if she never told him her secrets. He loved her, so he was willing to accept it and respect all her decisions.

The car drove into the military compound, and He Chaoyang went to the commander's office, while Chen Shuning was taken to the guesthouse to settle in.

Knowing that He Chaoyang and his team might be leaving soon to carry out a mission, she stopped the young soldier who was about to leave and asked him to wait for her. After entering the room, she checked and found that she was the only one there.

There were no surveillance cameras or similar devices in this era, so Chen Shuning quickly put the several valuable jewelry boxes into his spatial storage and then left.

She asked the young soldier to take her to the office building to wait; she wanted to see He Chaoyang off.

For some reason, she felt uneasy from the moment she learned that He Chaoyang was going on a mission. Even though she brought him the spiritual spring water, she was still very anxious.

Chen Shuning followed the young soldier to the front of the office building, where he saw He Chaoyang, who was fully armed, coming out of the office building.

Her heart was pounding faster than usual, as if it were about to leap out of her throat. She knew their mission was urgent; otherwise, they wouldn't have sent a plane overnight to bring them back.

He Chaoyang was dressed in a green military uniform, wearing a helmet, with a serious expression on his face. His eyes were firm, but Chen Shuning could still see a trace of worry in them. She knew that he was also worried about her.

Chen Shuning ran to He Chaoyang, her breathing rapid and her chest heaving.

She looked up at He Chaoyang, her eyes filled with concern and worry. Without saying anything, she handed the bottle to He Chaoyang and instructed him, "This bottle is the same as yours. Give it to someone you trust. If you get injured and can't open the cap yourself, have him feed you the water inside."

Her voice was low, but full of concern and worry.

He Chaoyang took the bottle, feeling the warmth of Chen Shuning's hand. He glanced at Chen Shuning, a hint of emotion and tenderness flashing in his eyes.

He nodded and said, "I understand. Don't worry, I will definitely come back safely."

Chen Shuning looked at He Chaoyang, her heart filled with reluctance and worry.

She knew that this mission was very dangerous and that He Chaoyang was likely to get injured. She wished she could go with him and share some of the risks with him.

But she knew she couldn't do that. All she could do was stay here and pray silently for him, hoping for his safe return.

He Chaoyang turned around and walked towards the truck that was already parked in the yard.

As Chen Shuning watched his retreating figure, tears welled up in her eyes. She knew she couldn't let him see her tears, otherwise he would worry even more.

So she quickly turned around, hastily wiped away her tears, waved in He Chaoyang's direction, and said, "Goodbye, be sure to come back safely!"

Hearing Chen Shuning's words, He Chaoyang paused for a moment, then turned around, waved in Chen Shuning's direction, and said, "Goodbye, wait for me to come back!"

After saying that, he resolutely got into the truck. As the truck engine roared, Chen Shuning watched the truck slowly disappear into the night, his heart filled with reluctance and worry.

She knew that all she could do now was wait for his return, and she believed that he would come back safely.

For the first time, Chen Shuning felt that each day was an eternity. Every day, apart from eating and sleeping, he would stand at the window of the guesthouse looking towards the military region gate, hoping that the truck that had taken his lover away would return soon.

Five days passed in a daze. Finally, on his way to get food at the canteen, Chen Shuning was stopped by the young soldier who had brought him to the guesthouse that day.

"Sister-in-law, Commander He and the others are back. The commander asked me to pick you up."

Chen Shuning was happy to hear that He Chaoyang had returned, but then she realized something was wrong. If He Chaoyang was busy after completing his mission, why would he take her with him? If he wasn't busy, why didn't he come to find her?

Sensing something was wrong, Chen Shuning quickly grabbed the young soldier's hand and asked anxiously, "What happened to He Chaoyang? Has something happened to him?"

The young soldier, startled by being suddenly grabbed, quickly broke free of Chen Shuning's grasp, his face flushed, and stammered, "I...I don't know either. The commander just told me to come and take you to his office. I don't know the specifics."

After saying that, the young soldier seemed afraid that Chen Shuning would grab him again, and suddenly dodged backward.

Chen Shuning knew he wouldn't get anything out of the young soldier, so he quickly gestured for the soldier to lead the way.

The two arrived at the office building that He Chaoyang had left in a great hurry.

The old commander whom He Chaoyang had seen at the hospital when he was injured stood at the entrance of the building.

Upon seeing Chen Shuning approach, the old commander hurriedly came forward and said apologetically, "Comrade Chen, I'm really sorry. Xiao He was injured last time and he was sent on this mission before he was fully recovered. It's just that he's the most suitable person to go on this mission."
