Chapter 191 Injured Again

Chen Jianjun stayed at Lu's house for one night before returning to his unit. In the following days, if it weren't for the fact that his wife had never been to Haishi, He Chaoyang would have preferred to stay home and exercise with his wife.

So basically, during the day, He Chaoyang would accompany Chen Shuning to travel around, and at night, Chen Shuning would accompany this man who had just broken his vows to have sex.

Aside from not being prepared on the first day, Chen Shuning would prepare a cup of spiritual spring water for herself to relieve her fatigue afterward, and she never overslept like she did on the first day.

Besides drinking it himself, Chen Shuning also personally brewed a pot of tea for the two elderly people every day, using spiritual spring water. After a few days, the two elderly people's health improved at a visible speed.

Of course, apart from Chen Shuning herself, everyone else thought that it was because the old man and the old woman were happy to see their granddaughter-in-law that their health improved so quickly.

But good days always pass too quickly. The two of them had just sat down after returning from outside when He Chaoyang received a call from his superiors in the military.

They said there was an urgent mission that required him to personally return and lead the team. They had already contacted the military region in Haishi, and the military region there would send a plane to take him back.

So Chen Shuning faced a choice: either return to Heilongjiang Province early with He Chaoyang, or return to Beijing first and then go back to Heilongjiang Province after his vacation ended.

Normally, since Chen Shuning had finally managed to get leave, she should have gone back to Beijing to celebrate the New Year before returning to Heilongjiang Province.

But for some reason, she felt uneasy ever since she learned that He Chaoyang was going on a mission, as if something bad was going to happen.

Ultimately, trusting her intuition, Chen Shuning decided to return to Heilongjiang Province with He Chaoyang.

So the two quickly packed their things and hurriedly left the Lu family home with the people from Haishi who came to pick them up.

Chen Shuning thought that since there was an airplane available, which was much safer than taking the train, she brought all the wedding gifts she had received.

Anyway, they can put them all into their spatial storage once they get back, which is much safer than He Chaoyang's suggestion to put them in the house they bought in Shanghai.

It could have been left at the Lu family's place, but the old lady's idea was that they should take it with them if possible.

The jade jewelry set that the old lady gave to Chen Shuning was the best set of jewelry in her dowry, and all her daughters-in-law and granddaughters-in-law were eyeing it! The old lady was afraid that someone might have ulterior motives if she left it here.

Especially the sixth cousin's wife from my uncle's family, she started coveting that set of jewelry as soon as she entered the house. The main reason was that the woman's character wasn't very good, and the old lady was worried about her.

Airplanes in this era were not as comfortable as those in later times, and they were traveling in a military plane. Chen Shuning was nauseous during the several hours of flight. Finally, when there was nothing left to vomit, she nestled in He Chaoyang's arms and fell asleep.

The plane arrived in Harbin in the evening, and the military vehicles were already waiting at the airport.

The two went straight to the military region after getting off the plane. They heard that He Chaoyang was going to meet with the military region leaders to understand the mission details before setting off.

As the car drew closer to the military region, Chen Shuning's heart inexplicably raced faster and faster. Her hand groped around and quietly took out a small metal water bottle, about the size of her palm, from her spatial storage.

After much hesitation, she finally decided to hand the bottle over to He Chaoyang.

Chen Shuning filled the bottle with spiritual spring water, and then found a key rope and tied it to the pull ring on the bottle cap.

She placed the bottle in He Chaoyang's hand and whispered, "Brother He, keep this bottle close to your body. In case—I mean, in case you get injured like last time—just unscrew the cap and drink the water inside. Trust me, this water can save your life in a critical moment."

Chen Shuning thought she had been discreet enough, but she didn't realize that He Chaoyang's eyes had already adapted to the darkness. So even though Chen Shuning thought it was very dark in the car, He Chaoyang still saw all of Chen Shuning's little actions.

He Chaoyang didn't say anything. He silently took the bottle and felt Chen Shuning's concern and worry.

He knew that the water in the bottle must be very precious, which was why the usually cautious girl had risked being discovered by him to conjure up the bottle out of thin air.

He felt a surge of emotion, realizing he had never met such a wonderful girl before.

He Chaoyang gripped the bottle tightly, as if he were holding Chen Shuning's hand.

He wanted to say something to Chen Shuning, but he didn't know what to say. He could only whisper, "Thank you, Shuning. I, He Chaoyang, swear that I will never let you down in this life."

Hearing He Chaoyang's words, Chen Shuning felt a warmth in her heart, realizing that her efforts had not been in vain.

She wanted to say something to He Chaoyang, but she felt that nothing was more important than his safe return.

She could only say softly, "No need to thank me, Brother He. I just hope you can come back safely."

Neither of them spoke again, and the car fell into silence, with only the sound of the wheels rolling and their breathing echoing in the darkness.

He Chaoyang knew that his wife had a secret, but he never bothered to investigate it.

He believes that everyone has things they don't want others to know, especially about the woman he loves, and he is more willing to respect her privacy.

He believed that she would naturally tell him when she was willing to share.

However, he was shocked and confused when he discovered that his daughter-in-law could conjure things out of thin air.

He has always been an atheist and skeptical of the supernatural.
