Chapter 250 Self-rescue

The two disappeared into the passage a moment ago, and the already fragile passage was immediately filled with rolling rocks.

In the small courtyard, the two people, still lying prone in the narrow passage, were filled with fear.

Chen Shuning carefully observed the situation outside and saw that the place where they were originally outside the space was now completely covered by collapsed floorboards and rubble.

Chen Shuning was filled with gratitude. She was glad that her intuition had saved their lives, and even more glad that she had such a cheating device as her spatial ability.

If she hadn't resolutely followed He Chaoyang here, and if she hadn't possessed the spatial ability to save her life, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

If she doesn't come, their son will lose one of the most important family members right after he was born.

If He Chaoyang were to meet with misfortune, the child would lose his father's companionship and care from a young age.

Thinking of all this, Chen Shuning couldn't help but feel terrified and tears streamed down her face.

However, because He Chaoyang was inside the space, he was unable to observe the true situation outside.

Therefore, he was unaware that the passage they were in had collapsed.

When he saw Chen Shuning suddenly crying, he mistakenly thought she was frightened by the aftershock, so he quickly hugged her tightly and gently comforted her, "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, it was just a small aftershock, there won't be any great danger, don't be afraid, I'm here."

His voice conveyed a sense of firmness and reassurance, attempting to calm Chen Shuning down.

However, upon hearing this, Chen Shuning was filled with anger. She punched He Chaoyang in frustration and said in a slightly choked voice, "What small-scale aftershock! The passage we were in just now has completely collapsed!"

If I hadn't had a premonition that something was going to happen and insisted on coming in with you, you would probably be crushed into a meat patty by now!

"He Chaoyang, I don't care, you have to be discharged from the army after this! Your job is too dangerous. I really don't want to be a widow, and I don't want our son to grow up without a father."

Chen Shuning sat on the grass, tears streaming down her face like a burst dam, muttering to herself, "It's so terrible..." He Chaoyang stood beside her, looking at her blankly, trying to understand what had happened.

"Shuning, I didn't quite hear what you just said. What exactly happened outside? And what about that child? What happened to him?"

He Chaoyang asked anxiously, his forehead even beaded with sweat.

Only then did Chen Shuning realize that she had been so afraid that she had completely forgotten that the purpose of her and He Chaoyang's trip was to rescue the trapped child.

So, she didn't have time to cry and quickly focused her attention to observe the situation outside again.

However, because the flashlights they brought had been pressed down inside the passage, the outside space was completely dark, without any light whatsoever.

The outside world seemed to be swallowed by endless darkness, so dark that one could not see their own hand in front of their face, making it impossible to see the surrounding environment, let alone find a child in the darkness.

Left with no other choice, Chen Shuning closed his eyes, concentrated, and tried his best to listen to the sounds from the outside world.

Time passed second by second, and finally, she faintly heard a very faint cry of a child.

The crying seemed to come from a distant place, sometimes there, sometimes not, intermittent, and it sounded heartbreaking.

Chen Shuning's heart raced instantly. She waited anxiously, afraid of missing any detail.

Once she confirmed that it was indeed a child crying, a huge weight was lifted from her heart.

After all, Chen Shuning is now a mother herself, and she is always particularly concerned and sensitive about issues related to children.

She knew all too well what children meant to parents, and she would feel incredibly guilty if something really happened to that child.

Just now, Chen Shuning's entire attention was focused on the children outside the space, completely ignoring his own predicament.

Upon hearing the child's cries, she finally felt a sense of relief, and her body collapsed weakly onto the grass in the courtyard like a deflated balloon.

Her voice was very soft, as if afraid of disturbing something: "The passage is completely filled with rubble and debris, and I can't see what's going on outside at all, but I think I can vaguely hear a child crying softly. I guess the child is probably okay..."

But then she started to worry again: "How are we going to get out now? The passage is blocked by earth and rocks. We definitely won't be able to get out unless we dig a passage."

The only downside to Chen Shuning's space is that he always has to leave the same place he came from.

But now, the spot where they just came in has collapsed. Now, let alone getting out, even if they could get out, they would die from lack of oxygen because they would be buried in the soil and rocks.

Moreover, if we just wait for the rescuers to dig this place up and then the two of them suddenly pop out of it, that scene would be too difficult to explain!

Therefore, the biggest dilemma facing them now is how to find a way out of their predicament.

Helpless and worried, Chen Shuning looked at He Chaoyang and asked anxiously, "Honey, it seems we can't get out. What should we do now?"

Having experienced countless times entering and exiting the space, He Chaoyang was well aware of Chen Shuning's spatial condition. However, when faced with such a sudden situation, he was clearly much calmer and more composed than Chen Shuning.
