Chapter 83 Wang Wenfang Gets Beaten

While tickling Chen Shuning's skin, he said relentlessly, "You little rascal, I'll teach you to talk nonsense, I'll teach you to talk nonsense."

Chen Shuning was not one to suffer a loss easily. While dodging Zhong Lingling's attacks, he looked for opportunities to fight back, and continued to tease her relentlessly.

The two girls started laughing and joking together, attracting other people in the courtyard to come and watch.

Upon learning that Zhong Lingling and Wang Wenqi had also obtained their marriage certificate today, whether sincerely or not, everyone stepped forward to congratulate the couple.

Because Liu Shumei's place was rented just today, and Zhong Lingling's place was also decided on the spur of the moment to get their marriage certificate, both places need to be rearranged.

Although both couples wanted to keep their weddings simple due to special circumstances, some essential wedding procedures still had to be followed.

The house in the backyard was to be used as the new house, and the task of decorating it was left to the male educated youth, while the two brides were pulled to the front yard by the female educated youth, who planned to leave from the old house.

Liu Shumei and Dong Weibing's marriage was arranged long ago, so even though they didn't plan on a grand wedding, they still made some simple preparations.

For example, Liu Shumei had prepared the new clothes for the newlyweds well in advance, but since the new house was rented at the last minute, she hadn't had time to prepare any furniture inside.

They simply moved their usual boxes and basins over; thankfully, the house was small, so the lack of belongings prevented it from feeling empty.

As for Zhong Lingling and Wang Wenqi, their house was fully furnished, but they hadn't prepared any new clothes. Zhong Lingling had gone to the supply and marketing cooperative in town, but what good things could they possibly have? Zhong Lingling, who always had high standards, didn't find anything she liked.

Although it's a bit of a shame that I couldn't wear new clothes to my wedding, I'd rather wear my old clothes than wear something old and dowdy.

So as soon as Zhong Lingling got back, she went inside to find some clothes.

In this situation, Chen Shuning couldn't very well ask Aunt Guihua to come and help her pickle sauerkraut. So she turned around and went into the old house to help Liu Shumei pack her things.

Everyone was busy until quite late that day, but they managed to get the two rooms in the backyard, which would be used as their new home, almost done, and it started to feel more like a new house.

Considering that it was their new house after all, and that everyone had spent most of the day tidying up, Wang Wenqi approached Wang Wenfang and said, "Wenfang, it is a new house after all, and the older generation says that it is unlucky for a girl to live in the new house the day before the wedding. So for today and tomorrow, you can stay in the front yard with the old educated youth for a couple of days, and then move back the day after tomorrow."

Wang Wenfang, who was feeling sullen because her brother hadn't even discussed such a big thing as his wedding with her beforehand, thought he was calling to apologize. However, upon hearing these words, she immediately became so angry that her eyes turned red.

She cried with a wronged expression, "This must be Zhong Lingling's idea again. I knew she couldn't tolerate me. She said she would treat me like an older sister, but we just got our marriage certificate. We haven't even had the wedding yet, and I haven't even met her parents, and her true colors have already been revealed."

"It's just a run-down house. If you don't want to live there, you don't have to. I'll move out right now, okay?"

Without giving Wang Wenqi a chance to explain, Wang Wenfang climbed onto the kang (a heated brick bed) without even taking off her shoes and started frantically pulling clothes out of the closet.

Wang Wenqi clearly hadn't expected to stay out for just two days, and because they were building a new house here, even Lingling would be staying out tonight.

He truly couldn't understand when his once well-behaved younger sister had become like this. It seemed Lingling was right; he had really spoiled her rotten.

She's already a seventeen-year-old girl, and she's still so immature. If she continues like this, she'll suffer in her husband's family when she gets married.

Upon hearing this, Wang Wenqi's joy at getting married instantly turned somber. He sternly grabbed Wang Wenfang, who was still acting crazy, and shouted, "What are you doing? Isn't your sister-in-law good enough to you? Think about it yourself. Since you came here, Lingling has always made sure you have the best food and clothes first."

We both work a full day at the same place, but when Lingling comes home, she cooks and cleans the house. I really don't know what you're thinking. You usually help your mother with housework and wash your own clothes. Now that something has happened at home, you, who should be sensible, are becoming less and less like before.

Not only do you not do any housework, but you also have Lingling wash your clothes. We're both seventeen, and you're eating and living at their place. How can you have the nerve to not do any chores?

The siblings' bickering attracted Zhong Lingling. As soon as she entered the room, she heard Wang Wenqi's words. Although she was happy inside, she didn't show it on her face. She stepped forward, pulled Wang Wenqi aside, and gently advised, "Brother Wenqi, what are you doing? Wenfang is still young. Can't you talk things out properly?"

Wang Wenfang, who was still angry, turned her head and saw Zhong Lingling's bright face. Thinking that her brother was treating her like this because of this woman, she immediately turned pale and forcefully shook off Wang Wenqi's hand, saying angrily, "Stop pretending to be a good person here. If it weren't for you, my brother wouldn't have treated me like this. It's all because of you stirring things up behind the scenes."

Now you're pretending to be a good person? How come I never realized you were such a disgusting person before?

With a "slap," Wang Wenqi, unable to bear it any longer, finally raised his hand and slapped Wang Wenfang.

He cursed angrily, "I originally thought you were just upset because of things at home, and that you would get used to it after a while, so I let you have your way and didn't say anything. But I didn't expect you to become even worse, and now you don't even understand the most basic principles."
