Chapter 236 I Love It to Death

Xiang Nanzhi placed her phone in her hand, saying, "Your phone is in Jiang Yuxin's hands. She wants to trick you into going into the woods."

Jiang Yao recalled how she had almost stepped into the depths of the woods and felt a chill run down her spine. "I was in such a hurry that I forgot everything. It wasn't until I was walking that I realized something was wrong."

"Come with me to the other side of the woods."

"What are you going to do?"

“Looking for you? I thought you really went into the woods, so I sent Shen Shixun and my second brother with men to look for you.”

Jiang Yao paused for a moment. "Your second brother? Ciyuan?"

"Nonsense, who else do I have a second brother?"

Cao Mingyuan blocked Xiang Nanzhi's way, "I can go in and report to President Xiang, but Miss, you can't go in."

"Cao Mingyuan, how dare you... Ah!!"

Xiang Nanzhi cried out in surprise, but her voice was drowned out by other sounds and could not be heard at all.

Jiang Yao instinctively gripped one of her arms tightly, "What, what happened..."

Cao Mingyuan was a little embarrassed and removed her hand. "Miss Jiang, it's just a power outage."

Such a romantic wedding relies entirely on lighting and decorations; a sudden power outage leaves the place in the middle of nowhere.

"Why did the power go out at the wedding?"

"With so many guests here, a power outage would be quite a joke."

But the power was indeed out, and the surroundings were completely dark. There was no light to be seen, only a hazy moon overhead, obscured by a thin layer of clouds, sometimes visible and sometimes hidden.

It was pitch black. Cao Mingyuan turned on his flashlight, and the other bodyguards did the same in time. The hall was suddenly illuminated by the lights from the guests' cell phones.

The emcee changed to a little honeybee (a type of vibrator), "This is a live singing segment at the wedding. I'll lead everyone in an impromptu song to bless our newlyweds..."

The music started playing soon after. Cao Mingyuan led the way, with Xiang Nanzhi and Jiang Yao following behind. When they arrived, they encountered the security guards from the wedding venue.

"There was a power outage just now. Could you tell me why?"

Xiang Nan asked a question, and the security guard picked up the plug and plugged it back in. "Someone unplugged it, so the power was cut off."

"Who did this?"

"We are still investigating."

"Please return to the venue for the wedding; the power is back on."

"We'll go over there in a bit, just to get some fresh air."

The power came back on, and Xiang Nanzhi and Jiang Yao took turns calling Xiang Ciyuan, but couldn't get through. Cao Mingyuan went in to look for someone without anyone noticing, leaving the others to watch over them.

Half an hour later, Xiang Ciyuan returned with his men and spotted Jiang Yao in the distance.

After all that fuss, Jiang Yao was in a truly disheveled state. Her shoes were covered in mud, her trouser legs were stubbly wet, and the fake nose she had been wearing was sticking up because of all the sweat.

Her fake mustache looked even more ridiculous.

Knowing that Jiang Yao had reacted quickly and hadn't entered the woods, Xiang Ciyuan was genuinely impressed with her. "Shen Shixun, are you alright?"

"fine."

Sizzle—

"Second Brother!"

Xiang Ciyuan reached out and ripped off the beard from Jiang Yao's face, saying, "You're dressed like neither a human nor a ghost."

Xiang Ciyuan frowned and then scolded Xiang Nanzhi, "I thought you came here just to join the fun. If you wanted to see Chairman Li, you should have just said so. You didn't have to go to all this trouble."

Xiang Nanzhi was somewhat embarrassed; she had no idea that she would fail this time.

She had everything planned out. She didn't rely on anyone; she used her own abilities to find people and secure the export contract. She even spent so much time making Buddha statues. Victory was practically in her grasp.

Shen Shixun gently placed his hand on Xiang Nanzhi's shoulder and rubbed her thin shoulder.

Xiang Ciyuan didn't say anything more and turned to leave.

Jiang Yao noticed the blood on the ground and was taken aback. "Ciyuan...you're injured?"

He didn't turn around. Jiang Yao followed for a few more steps. Cao Mingyuan frowned. "Miss Jiang, please wait."

If it weren't for her, would Mr. Xiang have been bitten by a snake?

In the infirmary, Xiang Ciyuan stared at the two small holes on his leg, watching the doctor treat his wounds.

I never expected that such a small snake could cause such a large amount of bleeding from a bite wound.

The snake that bit him wasn't venomous, but snakes live in dark, damp places and are full of bacteria. Even if they aren't venomous, they can still carry all sorts of germs, so Xiang Ciyuan was quite cautious.

We need to treat him for at least half an hour to prevent him from getting infected.

——

After returning to the venue, Jiang Yuxin sat quietly. Liu Wenli and Jiang Yi were busy with social engagements, while she sat alone on one side.

Seeing that Zhai Ying was going to change her clothes, she followed her, saying, "Sister Zhai Ying, let me go too, I'll help you out."

"There's nothing I can help with."

"Sister Zhai Ying!"

Jiang Yuxin and Zhai Ying had a very ordinary relationship. Zhai Ying noticed that Jiang Yuxin seemed to have something to say to her. On this joyous day, she couldn't neglect the guests who came to the wedding.

"Yu Xin, is something the matter?"

Jiang Yuxin nodded. "I have something I want to say to you alone."

The room was very quiet. Zhai Ying took off her earrings and jewelry in front of the mirror. "Go ahead and say it."

"There was a power outage just now, and I was outside touching up my makeup when I accidentally saw a few people acting suspiciously."

"What?"

"I suspect they are involved in the power outage."

Zhai Ying turned around. Everyone else thought the power outage was an accident, but the security guards at the wedding believed that someone had deliberately unplugged the socket. She thought, maybe someone had kicked it while passing by.

“Sister Zhai Ying, I won’t hide it from you anymore, I saw my sister, my sister Jiang Yao, and Xiang Nanzhi…”

These two are Song Ze's ex and ex-ex-ex, so Jiang Yuxin doesn't need to explicitly say what she's about to say.
