Xiang Nanzhi took the boiled potatoes out of the pot, put them in a bowl to cool, and then mashed them into a puree with a spoon.
She found cooking troublesome and tiring, but when Shen Shixun was in the kitchen, it was quick and effortless...
Thinking that Shen Shixun would definitely praise her when he came back, and that he would probably think he must have accumulated good karma in his past life to be able to marry such a virtuous wife, Xiang Nanzhi was a little carried away and was happy just thinking about it.
After mashing the potatoes, Xiang Nanzhi felt that something was still missing; the white mashed potatoes looked rather dull.
She sprinkled some tomato powder on top, and the white plate of mashed potatoes sprinkled with red tomato powder looked a little more unique.
Xiang Nanzhi added some water to the pot, cut the tomatoes in half and threw them in, cracked an egg into the pot, and then put the lid on.
All that's missing is this soup.
She didn't know what went wrong, but the soup overflowed immediately after boiling, making a mess all over the kitchen. Xiang Nan was at a loss and, when she went to get the pot lid, she didn't notice that the lid had unexpectedly scalded her hand.
"ah!"
She stepped back; the pot was still boiling. Xiang Nanzhi, flustered, quickly turned off the heat.
A spot on her wrist was burned and red, burning with pain. Xiang Nanzhi's eyes welled up with tears. She quickly turned off the heat, poured out the remaining tomato and egg soup, and sprinkled a layer of tomato powder on top.
As she was scattering the saliva, a gust of wind blew in through the kitchen window, and some of it got into her nose, causing her to sneeze.
Is this tomato powder? It doesn't taste quite right.
Xiang Nanzhi looked and realized he'd taken the wrong thing; it was chili powder...
They're all red, so they should be about the same, Xiang Nanzhi reassured herself as she served the soup, but she didn't know what to do about the mess in the kitchen.
A phone call came to Ma Xiaorong, who was shocked to learn that she had burned her hand while cooking.
"I'm not going home, I'm doing hard labor here."
"Shen Shixun actually made you cook?"
"He didn't make me do it; I did it on my own."
"He didn't even try to stop you. Let me tell you, these men just want..."
"Alright, stop talking about him. Go and clean up the kitchen first."
"Let me bandage you up first."
"No need for bandaging. And you mustn't tell my older brother or my dad about this. You can't tell anyone."
Potato peels were everywhere, there was tomato and egg soup all over the floor, and bits of mashed potatoes on the ground. There were a few pieces of braised pork in the corner, which she stepped on. The ground was wet, and the bag of chili powder had probably been blown to the ground by the wind, with most of it spilled out.
Xiang Nanzhi used to cook at home, and it wasn't this bad. Looking back now, she realizes that it was a bunch of cooks at home who were cleaning up her messes...
Xiang Nanzhi's hand was in severe pain. At first, it was just the pain of a burn, but now the pain was getting stronger and stronger. She touched the burn and vaguely felt that a blister was swelling up.
It looks small, but it's slowly festering and getting bigger.
Ma Xiaorong had never done such difficult work in the Xiang family; these things were not her responsibility.
The mess in the kitchen took her almost half an hour to clean up, and she was covered in sweat when she came out.
"I won't keep you for dinner, you can go back now."
"Let me see my hands."
"It's all better now, it was just a slight burn."
Ma Xiaorong sighed, unsure how to comfort her. Xiang Nanzhi took a bite of her apple, pushed her out, and said, "Remember not to talk nonsense when you get back. Goodbye."
When Shen Shixun returned, he saw Xiang Nanzhi waiting for him at the door. He hadn't been in a good mood all day, especially when he went to pick her up from the antique market and learned that she hadn't been there all day.
"You're back. Let's eat. I made it."
Xiang Nanzhi pulled him into the house. Shen Shixun saw several dishes on the table, an unusual combination, but compared to the previous ones, they should be barely edible.
"What good news is there today?"
“I secured the contract, and I managed to meet with Chairman Li Ran. The export of jujubes is now on the horizon.”
"Congratulations."
"The process was a bit troublesome, and I asked a friend for some help."
She didn't say that the friend was Li Luchuan, but Shen Shixun wasn't stupid.
"Braised pork..."
It's already cold. Xiang Nanzhi frowned. "I'll go heat it up."
"I'll go."
Xiang Nanzhi thought that Shen Shixun was working too hard, so she wasn't as happy as she had imagined when he made several dishes.
She was in a pretty good mood today, but when Shen Shixun carried the plate in to heat up the food, she noticed a large bump on her wrist that hurt when touched.
The man worked quickly, boiling the pork thoroughly, then deep-frying it with soy sauce, adding a little spice, and finally sprinkling it with chopped green onions before serving.
I heated the mashed potatoes again with water, then cracked an egg into it. It looked even better in color, but it was still pretty good to eat with rice.
All that was left was tomato and egg soup. He cooked it with some oil, added the soup and brought it to a boil, then added some salt.
They worked so fast that when the dishes were served, Xiang Nanzhi couldn't believe she had made them herself.
"The color looks much better after you heat it up."
"Yeah?"
"yes."
Xiang Nanzhi tasted a piece of braised pork and said, "It's delicious, really delicious."
"Next time I come back, you don't need to cook for yourself."
"Aren't you happy today? I was worried yesterday that I wouldn't be able to close this contract. There's a saying, 'The mountains and rivers seem to block the way, but what's the next line...'"
Shen Shixun shook his head; he really didn't know what the next sentence was.
"Oh, a new vista opens up after a long and winding road."
